마이크로 채널 내부의 Micro-LIF 측정을 위한 마이크로 레이저 평면빔과 혼합용매의 적용 (Application of Micro-Thin Laser sheet and Mixed Solvent for Micro-LIF Measurement in a Microchannel)

  • One most feasible way to measure the concentration field in the micro-channel is using micro-LIF(Laser Induced Fluorescence) method. However, an accurate concentration field at a given cross plane in a micro-channel has not been successfully achieved so far due to various limitations in the light illumination and fluorescence signal detection. The present study demonstrates a novel method to provide an ultra thin laser sheet beam having five(5) microns thickness by use of a micro focus laser line generator. The laser sheet beam illuminates an exact plane of concentration measurement field to increase the signal to noise ratio and considerably reduce the depth uncertainty. Nile Blue A was used as fluorescent dye for the present LIF measurement. The enhancement of the fluorescent intensity signals was performed by a solvent mixture of water $(95\%)$ and ethanol (EtOH)/methanol (MeOH) $(5\%)$ mixture. To reduce the rms errors resulted from the CCD electronic noise and other sources, an expansion of grid size was attempted from $1\times1$ to 3(3 or 5(5 pixel data windows and the pertinent signal-to-noise level has been noticeably increased accordingly.

  • This paper presents the technology of selective emitter for high efficiency crystalline silicon solar cell. The effect of selective emitter is analyzed by using the simulation program for solar cell, PC1D. The selective emitter shows better spectral response in short wavelength regions compared to homogeneous emitter. Therefore, the efficiency of solar cell with selective emitter can be improved by changing the sheet resistance from 60 $\Omega/\square$ to 120 $\Omega/\square$. In addition, the power loss of solar cell can be minimized by optimizing width and gap of the finger electrodes on the selective emitter.

Characteristics of the Warm Deep Drawability of a Transformation-Induced Plasticity Steel Sheet

  • Warm deep drawability in a square cup drawing was investigated using a newly developed high-strength steel sheet with retained austenite that was transformed into martensite during formation. For this investigation, six different temperatures between room temperature and 250℃, and five different drawing ratios ranging from 2.2 to 2.6 were considered. The results showed that the maximum drawing force and the drawing depth were affected by the change in temperature, and a more stable thickness strain distribution was observed at elevated temperatures. However, blue shortness occurred at over 200℃. FEM analysis using the LS-DYNA code was used to compare the experimental results with the numerical results for the thickness strain distribution.

  • A simple and convenient method of detecting N, N-dimethy laniline (D.M.A.) residues in ampicillin trihydrate (A.T.) was established. D.M.A. was extracted by chloroform from the chloroform presaturated N/10-ammonia water solution of A.T. and chromatographed on silica gel G thin layer. Blue spot appeared in 15minutes after spray of 2, 6-dichloroquinonechlorimide solution was compared with the blue spot of reference concomitantly processed. The developing solvent was prepared by mixing equal volume of cyclohexane and chloroform. To quantitate the amount of D.M.A. in A.T., T.L.C. was performed with the Eastmann Chromatogram sheet, then color density was measured by Cosmo Superclick densitometer. The developing solvent at this time was cyclohexane-chlorofonn (3+7) mixture. The peak areas obtained with the amount of D.M.A ranging from 0.05 to 2.0 .mu.g were linear to color density. Better sensitive results would be available with the densitometer equipped with monochromator.

고농도의 Mg가 도핑된 GaN층을 이용한 GaN계 청자색 레이저다이오드의 동작 전압 감소 (Reduction of Operating Voltage of GaN-based Blue-violet Laser Diode by using Highly Mg Doped GaN Layer)

  • In order to reduce operating voltage of the GaN based blue-violet laser diodes, the effect of highly Mg doped GaN layer, which was grown below ohmic contact metals, on contact resistivity as well as operating voltage has been investigated. The addition of the highly Mg doped GaN layer greatly reduced contact resistivity of Pd/Pt/Au ohmic contacts from $5.2 \times {10}^-2 \Omegaㆍ$\textrm{cm}^2$ to 7.5 \times {10}^-4 \Omegaㆍ$\textrm{cm}^2$$. In addition, it also decreased device voltage at 20 mA by more than 3 V. Temperature- dependent sheet resistivity of the highly Mg doped GaN layer suggested that the reduction of the contact resistivity could be attributed to predominant current flow at the interface between the Pd/Pt/Au contacts and p-GaN through a deep level defect band, rather than the valence band.

  • To improve the blue responses of screen-printed single crystalline silicon solar cells, we investigated an emitter etch-back technique to obtain high emitter sheet resistances, where the defective dead layer on the emitter surface was etched and became thinner as the etch-back time increased, resulting in the monotonous increase of short circuit current and open circuit voltage. We found that an optimal etch-back time should be determined to achieve the maximal performance enhancement because of fill factor decrease due to a series resistance increment mainly affected by contact and lateral resistance in this case. To elucidate the reason for the fill factor decrease, we studied the resistance analysis by potential mapping to determine the contact and the lateral series resistance. As a result, we found that the fill factor decrease was attributed to the relatively fast increase of contact resistance due to the dead layer thinning down with the lowest contact resistivity when the emitter was contacted with screen-printed silver electrode.

나일론 시트와 염료를 이용한 고감도 색변환 포름알데히드 가스 센서 (Highly Sensitive Colorimetric Formaldehyde Gas Sensors using Nylon Sheet and Dye)

  • A colorimetric sensor was investigated to achieve a low-cost warning device for harmful gaseous formaldehyde (HCHO). The sensor is based on selective reactions between hydroxylamine sulfate and HCHO, leading to the production of sulfuric acid. The produced acid results in color-changing response through the acid-base reaction with dye molecules impregnated on a solid membrane substrate. For attaining this purpose, sensors were fabricated by drop-casting a dye solution prepared using different pH indicators on various commercially available polymer sheets, and their colorimetric responses were evaluated in terms of sensitivity and reliability. The colorimetric sensor using bromophenol blue (BPB) and nylon sheet was found to exhibit the best performance in HCHO detection. An initial bluish green of a sensor was changed to yellow when exposed to gaseous formaldehyde. The color change was recorded using an office scanner and further analyzed in term of RGB distance for quantifying sensor's response at different HCHO(g) concentrations. It exhibited a recognizable colorimetric response even at 50 ppb, being lower than WHO's standard of 80 ppb. In addition, the sensor was found to have quite good selectivity in HCHO detection under the presence of common volatile organic compounds such as ethanol, toluene, and hexane.

Some Physical and Chemical Properties of Carbonized Wood Wastes(II)

  • A total of forty five-ply, 30- by 30-cm lauan and larch plywood sheets were manufactured in the laboratory using commercial urea and phenol resin adhesives; half of these sheets were treated with fresh concrete. Each sheet was carbonized for 2, 4, and 6hours at $400^{\circ}C$, $600^{\circ}C$, and $750^{\circ}C$, respectively, and their physical properties were measured. The yie1d of charcoal decreased as carbonization temperature and time increased. Charcoal yield was greater in plywood than in veneer, and slightly greater in plywood treated with concrete compared to untreated plywood. Plywood manufactured with phenol resin adhesive had higher pH, higher equilibrium moisture content (EMC), and greater adsorption of methylene-blue dye compared to plywood manufactured with urea resin. For concrete-treated plywood, pH was greater than 10 even when the sheets were carbonized for 2hours at $400^{\circ}C$. Although the EMC of the phenol resin plywood was higher than that of the urea resin plywood, EMC of the phenol resin was lower than that of the urea resin. The larch phenol resin plywood that was carbonized for 6 hours at $750^{\circ}C$ adsorbed more methylene-blue than did the commercia1 wood-based activated charcoal as a result of total pore volume and surface area.

MODIS 영상을 이용한 빙하의 정규청빙지수(NDBI) 개발 및 변화요인 분석 (Development of Normalized Difference Blue-ice Index (NDBI) of Glaciers and Analysis of Its Variational Factors by using MODIS Images)

  • 빙상이나 빙하, 빙붕에서 푸른색의 얼음이 지표에 노출되어 있는 지역을 청빙지대라 한다. 이는 빙하 표면에 쌓인 눈이 바람에 의해 침식되거나 기온과 일사량에 따른 승화로 인해 대부분 제거되기 때문이다. 청빙지대는 운석이 농집되기 쉽고 빙체의 질량균형에 매우 큰 영향을 미치기 때문에, 청빙의 노출도 및 밀집도에 대한 정량적 지표의 개발이 요구되고 있다. 이 연구에서는 2007~2012년에 동남극 맥머도 드라이벨리를 촬영한 MODIS 영상을 이용하여 청빙과 눈, 구름의 분광반사특성을 분석하고, 청빙의 노출도 및 밀집도를 정량화 할 수 있는 정규청빙지수(Normalized Difference Blue-ice Index, NDBI) 알고리즘을 고안하였다. 눈과 구름은 가시광선과 근적외선 파장대역에서 매우 높은 반사율을 나타낸다. 청빙은 청색 파장대역에서 높은 반사율을 보이는 반면에, 근적외선 파장대역에서 낮은 반사율을 보인다. NDBI 알고리즘은 청색과 근적외선 파장대역에서의 반사율 차이를 두 반사율의 합으로 나누는 것으로 표현된다[NDBI = (Blue - NIR)/(Blue + NIR)]. 청빙의 NDBI는 노출도와 밀집도에 따라 0.2~0.5의 값을 가지며, 0.2 이하의 값을 가지는 눈과 구름이나 음수의 값을 나타내는 암석으로부터 명확히 구분되었다. 청빙의 NDBI가 시간에 따라 변화하는 현상은 맥머도 드라이벨리의 기상관측소에서 측정된 풍속($R^2=0.012$)이나 기온($R^2=0.278$) 보다는 적설두께와 가장 높은 상관성($R^2=0.699$)을 나타냈다. 적설두께가 증가할수록 NDBI 값은 감소하였는데, 이는 청빙지대의 NDBI 값으로부터 적설량의 추정이 가능함을 의미한다. 이 연구에서 개발된 NDBI 알고리즘은 운석탐사, 빙체의 질량균형 분석, 적설량 추정 등 다양한 극지연구 분야에서 매우 유용하게 사용될 것으로 전망된다.
