Red Electrophosphorescence from Poly(BP-alt-BCV) Conjugated Polymer Doped with an Ir-Complex

  • A new blue electroluminescent conjugated polymer, poly(BP-alt-BCV), was prepared by Hornor-Emmons polycondensation and used as a host polymer for the phosphorescent dopant, $(bsn)_2Ir(acac)$. Poly(N-vinylcarbazole) (PVK), known as a blue EL material, was also used for comparison with poly(BP-alt-BCV). Electrophosphorescence of PLEDs with these dopant/host systems was investigated in terms of luminescence, efficiency, emission color, and energy transfer.

  • Blue-emitting $CaAl_2Si_2O_8:Eu^{2+}(CAS:Eu^{2+})$ phosphor, prepared by solid-state reaction, is described in this paper. We researched the effect of boron ion substitution in the host materials. The phase and luminescent properties were investigated using the powder X-ray diffraction(XRD) and photoluminescence(PL) spectra.

Imidazole 유도체들의 합성과 유기 발광 특성 연구 (Synthesis and Electroluminescent Properties of Imidazole Derivatives)

  • We report the photo (PL) and electro luminescence (EL) properties of new conjugated compounds based on imidazole moiety, 4,4' -di(4,5 diphenyl-N-imidazolyl)stilbene(DDPIS) and 4,4'-di(2,4,5-triphenyl-N-imidazolyl)stilbene(DTPIS), as emitting materials. ITO/m-MTDATA/NPB/DDPIS/Alq3/LiF/AI device shows blue EL spectrum at 456 ㎚ and 0.3 cd/ A and turn on voltage at 7 ∼ 8 V. DTPIS shows blue EL spectrum at around λmax=453㎚ and 0.5 cd/A efficiency in ITO/m-MTDATA/NPB/DTPIS/Alq3/LiF/Al device.

High Contrast Red, Green, and Blue Organic Lightemitting Diodes using Inorganic Metal Multi Layers

  • High contrast red, green and blue organic light-emitting diodes were fabricated using inorganic metal multi layer composed of thin Al, KCl and thick Al and then were compared to optical and electrical characteristics with the attached polarizer and conventional OLEDs. Ambient light reflection of OLED using inorganic metal layer, polarizer and conventional metal layer were 29.2, 31.1 and 82.5% respectively. Optical characteristics of OLEDs using inorganic metal layer were max luminescence of 13040 cd/m2 and luminous efficiency of 2.12 cd/A at 8V whereas OLEDs using polarizer has 8456 cd/m2 and 1.43 cd/A at 8V each. OLEDs including inorganic metal multi layers show significant technical advantages in achieving high performance of OLED display with improved contrast ratio of 251:1, specifically in Red OLED.

Effects of metal ions substitution for a potential blue-emitting $RbBaPO_4:Eu^{2+}$ phosphor

  • The luminescence properties of a potential blue-emitting $RbBaPO_4:Eu^{2+}$ phosphor substituted with various metal ions have been investigated. The main emission wavelength of the phosphor samples was red-shifted by the substitution with K and Sr ions. The maximum peak intensity was obtained from the sample $Rb_{0.25}K_{0.75}Ba_{0.99}Eu_{0.01}PO_4$ which showed 144% relative intensity versus that of BAM:$Eu^{2+}$ phosphor under 254 nm excitation.

Synthesis and Properties of Biaxial LC from Dumbbell-shaped Molecules

  • Novel compounds with rod and disc mesogens were synthesized and characterized. The molecular structures were confirmed by FT-IR, $^1H$-NMR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. The optical properties of these molecules were investigated by UV-vis absorption spectroscopy and photo-luminescence spectroscopy. We found that they are a novel series of blue light-emitting molecules. The absorption spectra peaks of these compounds varied from 336 nm-341 nm, while the maximum emissions centered form 410 nm-450 nm in chloroform solution. However, unexpectedly we could not found their biaxiality and mesomorphic properties by POM, conoscopy and DSC method.

Large Band Gap Attenuation of CdS Nanoclusters after H2S Exposure

  • Large band gap attenuation of CdS nanoclusters in hybrid sol gel matrix comprised of 3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl methacrylate (TMSPM), 15 wt. % zirconium, and various amounts of cadmium acetate was observed after $H_2S$ exposure. Hybrid sol gel matrixes were prepared by hydrolysis and condensation reactions. The sol gels contained with various amount of cadmium acetate were spin coated to glass substrates and exposed to $H_2S$ gas. The UV-visible absorption peaks were shifted toward blue with increasing the amount of CdS nanoclusters and were shifted to the red after thermal process. Significant amount of -OH absorption peaks were reduced after thermal process. Strong room temperature photoluminescence (PL) of CdS nanoclusters was observed after exposing to $H_2S$ gas. The PL intensity increased for several minutes and slowly decreased thereafter. The luminescence peaks were continuously shifted toward blue as the time passed. Extraordinary Stokes shift (approximately 160 nm) was observed.

Influence of coating and annealing on the luminescence of Ga2O3 nanowires

  • Ga2O3-core/CdO-shell nanowires were synthesized by a two step process comprising thermal evaporation of GaN powders and sputter-deposition of CdO. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) analyses revealed that the cores and the shells of the annealed coaxial nanowires were single crystal of monoclinic Ga2O3 and FCC CdO, respectively. As-synthesized Ga2O3 nanowires showed a broad emission band at approximately 460 nm in the blue region. The blue emission intensity of the Ga2O3 nanowires was slightly decreased by CdO coating, but it was significantly increased by subsequent thermal annealing in a reducing atmosphere. The major emission peak was also shifted from ~500 nm by annealing in a reducing atmosphere, which is attributed to the increases in the Cd interstitial and O vacancy concentrations in the cores.

KURT 지하수의 천연 유기물질과 6가 우라늄 화학종의 상호작용에 관한 연구 (Study on the Interaction of U(VI) Species With Natural Organic Matters in KURT Groundwater)

  • KURT(KAERI Underground Research Tunnel) 지하수에 존재하는 천연 유기물질과 6가 우라늄(U(VI))화학종의 상호작용을 레이저 분광학 기술을 이용하여 조사하였다. 지하수 시료에 266 nm 파장의 레이저 빛을 입사시켜 자외선 및 파란색 파장 영역에서 방출되는 천연 유기물질의 발광 스펙트럼을 관측하였다. $0.034-0.788mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ 농도 범위의 우라늄이 함유된 지하수에서는 녹색 파장 영역에서 방출되는 U(VI) 화학종의 발광 스펙트럼을 측정하였다. 지하수에 함유된 U(VI) 화학종의 발광 특성(피크 파장 및 발광 수명)이 실험실에서 제조한 표준용액에 함유된 $Ca_2UO_2(CO_3)_3(aq)$의 발광 특성과 매우 유사하다는 것을 확인하였다. 지하수에 존재하는 U(VI) 화학종의 발광 세기는 표준용액에 함유된 같은 농도의 $Ca_2UO_2(CO_3)_3(aq)$의 발광세기에 비해 약하다. 표준용액의 $Ca_2UO_2(CO_3)_3(aq)$를 천연 유기물질이 함유된 지하수에 섞었을 때에도 $Ca_2UO_2(CO_3)_3(aq)$의 발광 세기가 감소한다. 이러한 현상의 원인을 지하수의 천연 유기물질과 Ca-U(VI)-탄산염 화학종의 상호작용으로 인해 비발광성 U(VI) 착물이 형성되기 때문인 것으로 설명하였다.
