  • We propose a new space-time block coding (STBC) for asynchronous cooperative systems in full-duplex mode. The orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) transmission technique is used to combat the timing errors from the relay nodes. At the relay nodes, only one OFDM time slot is required to delay for a pair-wise symbol swap operation. The decoding complexity is lower for this new STBC than for the traditional quasi-orthogonal STBC. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme achieves excellent performances.

  • We consider channel-coded multi-input multi-output (MIMO) orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) transmission and obtain a condition on its signal for it to attain the maximum diversity and coding gain. As this condition may not be realizable, we propose a suboptimal design that employs an orthogonal transform and a space-frequency interleaver between the channel coder and the multi-antenna OFDM transmitter. We propose a corresponding receiving method based on block turbo equalization. Attention is paid to some detailed design of the transmitter and the receiver to curtail the computational complexity and yet deliver good performance. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed transmission technique can outperform the conventional coded MIMO OFDM and the MIMO block single-carrier transmission with cyclic prefixing.

  • A location-aware algorithm is proposed in this study to optimize the system performance of distributed systems for processing big data with low data reliability and application performance. Compared with previous algorithms, the location-aware data block placement algorithm uses data block placement and node data recovery strategies to improve data application performance and reliability. Simulation and actual cluster tests showed that the location-aware placement algorithm proposed in this study could greatly improve data reliability and shorten the application processing time of I/O interfaces in real-time.

  • PURPOSE. The purpose of this study was to compare the linear sintering behavior of presintered zirconia blocks of various densities. The mechanical properties of the resulting sintered zirconia blocks were then analyzed. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Three experimental groups of dental zirconia blocks, with a different presintering density each, were designed in the present study. Kavo $Everest^{(R)}$ ZS blanks (Kavo, Biberach, Germany) were used as a control group. The experimental group blocks were fabricated from commercial yttria-stabilized tetragonal zirconia powder (KZ-3YF (SD) Type A, KCM. Corporation, Nagoya, Japan). The biaxial flexural strengths, microhardnesses, and microstructures of the sintered blocks were then investigated. The linear sintering shrinkages of blocks were calculated and compared. RESULTS. Despite their different presintered densities, the sintered blocks of the control and experimental groups showed similar mechanical properties. However, the sintered block had different linear sintering shrinkage rate depending on the density of the presintered block. As the density of the presintered block increased, the linear sintering shrinkage decreased. In the experimental blocks, the three sectioned pieces of each block showed the different linear shrinkage depending on the area. The tops of the experimental blocks showed the lowest linear sintering shrinkage, whereas the bottoms of the experimental blocks showed the highest linear sintering shrinkage. CONCLUSION. Within the limitations of this study, the density difference of the presintered zirconia block did not affect the mechanical properties of the sintered zirconia block, but affected the linear sintering shrinkage of the zirconia block.

  • We propose a new bandwidth-efficient technique that achieves high data rates over a wideband wireless channel. This new scheme is targeted for a multiple-input multiple- output orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) system that achieves transmit diversity through a space frequency block code and capacity enhancement through the iterative joint processing of zero-forcing detection and maximum a posteriori (MAP) decoding. Furthermore, the proposed scheme is compared to the coded Bell Labs Layered Space-Time OFDM (BLAST-OFDM) scheme.

  • The addition of dietary proteases (PRO) to weaner diets hydrolyzes soybean-based anti-nutritive factors and improves weaned pig's dietary digestibility and growth performance. Therefore, this study explores the effects of PRO in a lower crude protein (CP) level diet than that in a commercial diet on the growth performance, nutrient digestibility, and intestinal morphology of weaned pigs. A total of 90 weaned pigs were randomly assigned to 3 dietary treatments with 6 pigs per pen and 5 replicated pens per treatment using a randomized complete block design (block = body weight [BW]): 1) a commercial weaner diet as a positive control (PC; phase1 CP = 23.71%; phase2 CP: 22.36%), 2) lower CP diet than PC as a negative control (NC; 0.61% less CP than PC), and 3) an NC diet with 0.02% PRO. Pigs fed PC and PRO had higher (p < 0.05) final BW, average daily gain, and/or gain to feed ratio for the first three weeks and the overall experimental period than NC. The PC and PRO groups had greater (p < 0.05) apparent ileal digestibility of dry matter, CP, and energy than the NC group. Moreover, pigs fed PC and PRO increased (p < 0.05) apparent total tract digestibility of CP compared with those fed NC. In addition, the PRO group had a higher number of goblet cells than the PC and NC groups. However, pig fed PC and PRO increased (p < 0.05) villus height and height to crypt depth ratio in the ileum compared with those fed NC. In conclusion, PRO supplementation in a commercial weaner diet with low CP levels improves growth rate and nutrient digestibility by modulating the intestinal morphology of weaned pigs.

  • Othogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing(OFDM) has been taken notice of 4th generation communication method because it has a merit of high data rate(HDR). To realize HDR communication, The OFDM a s high efficient Fast-Fourier-Transform (FFT)/Inversion FFT (IFFT) processor. Currently OFDM is realized by Digital Signal Processor(DSP) but it consumes a lot of Power. Therefore, current-mode FFT LSI has been proposed for compensation of this demerit. In this paper, we propose IVC for current-mode FFT LSI. From the simulation result, the output value of IVC is more than 3V when the value of FFT Block output is more than $7.35{\mu}A$. The output value of IVC is lower than 0.5V when the value of FFT Block output is lower than $0.97{\mu}A$. Designed IVC Low-power Current mode FFT LSI will contribute to the operation of current-mode FFT LSI and the development of next generation wireless communication systems.

  • For orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), cyclic prefix (CP) should be longer than the length of channel impulse response. In order to prevent a loss of bandwidth efficiency due to the use of a CP, residual intersymbol interference cancellation (RISIC) method has recently been developed. In this paper, we first apply the RISIC algorithm to the space-time block coded (STBC) OFDM and the space-frequency block coded (SFBC) OFDM with insufficient CP. It is shown that in the STBC OFDM, tail cancellation as well as cyclic restoration of the RISIC should be repeated. Second, we propose iterative channel estimation method for the RISIC in the STBC OFDM system with insufficient CP. Based on the expectation-maximization (EM) algorithm, the proposed estimation method exploits the extrinsic probabilities of the channel decoder iteratively. The performance of the proposed method is evaluated by computer simulation in a multipath fading environment.
