  • Geometric mapping technique has been used to find the shape of initial blank for sheet forming. The method was chosen because of its simplicity and numerical efficiency. Error in blank shape were measured along deformation path by FE analysis of forming. Blank shape was modified by volume additionaddition/Subtractiontraction method with taking with taking into account of deformation path. Modified blank shape shows an acceptable result, showing the current method can be an useful tool for predicting blank shape in the practical application. More test will be done to verify the validity of the method.

  • Kendrick plots offer an alternative visualization of mass spectral data which reveals ion series and patterning by turning a mass spectrum into a map, plotting the fractional mass (wrongly called mass defect) as a function of mass-to-charge ratios and ion abundances. Although routinely used for polymer mass spectrometry, two unreported applications of these Kendrick plots are proposed using the program "kendo2": the graphical recalibration of a mass spectrum via the simulation of a theoretical fractional mass and a multi-segment fit; and the rapid evaluation of scan-to-scan variation of accurate mass measurements used as tolerances for the blank subtraction of UPLC-MS data files. Both applications are compatible with any type of high-resolution MS data including LC/GC-MS(/MS).

  • A procedure is proposed for determining the initial thickness distribution in oder to produce a specified final thickness distribution for the axisymmetrical superplastic blow forming processes. Weighted parameter is introduced to improve the simple ad $d_traction method and the initial blank thickness distribution is obtained by optimizing the weighted parameter. This method is applied to superplastic free bulging process with the uniform thickness distribution of final shape to confirm its validity. The optimum initial blank thickness distributions is obtained from arbitrary axisymmetrical superplastic blow forming processes such as dome, cone and cylindrical cup forming with die contact. It is concluded that the ad $d_traction method with weighted parameter is an effective method for an optimum blank thickness distribution design.esign.

  • An improved derivative thermometric titration apparatus designed around operational amplifiers is described which is capable of monitoring the small temperature change and of computing the derivatives for accentuation of the titration end point that is difficult to locate by extrapolation methods. The instrument is constructed of four commercial operational amplifiers. A use of dummy cell provides the subtraction means for compensation of the initial temperature and random temperature fluctuations with a resultant gain in signal-to-noise ratio. The successive differentiation action of the computer has been nearly "perfect," so that the two breaks (blank or starting and end point of the titration curve can be located with the precision of 0.2% by observing two peak points on the second derivative curve. Arrangements useful in obtaining such a good derivative response that is exactly proportional to the input signal are discussed. Plots of the enthalphogram and its derivatives are presented, with the results of several titrations used to evaluate the performance of the apparatus.
