실험 계획법을 사용한 B-Pillar 성형공정에서 블랭크 형상 최적화 (Optimization of blank geometry for the stamping process of B-pillar using design of experiments)

  • The shape of the blank greatly affects the formability and quality of the product after the stamping process. In this study, the geometry of the B-Pillar blank in the stamping process was optimized using design of experiments. The geometry of the blank for the B-pillar was simplified with the two length values and two radius values. The effects of design variables were studied through the Design of experiments. The stamping process of the B-pillar was predicted with the Finite Element Analysis (FEA). The optimized blank geometry was obtained. It results in the reduced maximum equivalent plastic strain. The local necking and the wrinkling did not occurred with the optimized blank geometry.

  • This paper is concerned with the quantitative effect of design parameters on a stamped part of the auto-body. The considered parameters in this paper are the blank holding force, the draw-bead force, the blank size which greatly affect the metal flow during stamping. The indicators of formability selected in this paper are failures such as tearing, wrinkling and the amount of springback. The stamping process of the front side inner member is simulated using the finite element analysis changing the design parameters. The numerical results demonstrate that the blank holding force cannot control the local metal flow during forming although it controls the overall metal flow. The modification of the initial blank size considering the punch opening line ensures the local wrinkling and reduces the amount of springback after forming. The restraining force of draw-bead controls the metal flow in the local area and reduces the amount of excess metal. It is noted that the parametric study of design parameters such as blank holding force, the blank size and the draw-bead are very important in the process design of the complicated member.

  • An optimum blank design technology is required for near-net of net-shape cold forming using sheets. Originally, the backward tracing scheme has been developed for preform design in bulk forming, and applied to several forming processes successfully. Its key concept is to trace backward from the final desirable configuration to an intermediate preform of initial blocker. A program for initial blank design in sheet forming which contains the capabilities of forward loading simulation by the finite element method and backward tracing simulation, has been developed and proved the effectiveness by applying to a square cup stamping process. In the blank design of square cup stamping, the backward tracing program can produce an optimum blank configuration which forms a sound net-shape cup product without machining after forming. Another general application appears in the blank design of a cup stamping with protruding flanges, one of typical automobile components. The blank configurations derived by backward tracing simulation have been confirmed by a series of loading simulations. The approach or decision of an initial blank configuration presented in this study will be a milestone in fields of sheet forming process design.

  • 현재 여백에 대한 연구는 주로 미술학, 건축학 논저에서 찾아볼 수 있으며, 영상 학술 연구 중에서는 비교적 적은편이다. 그러나 여백은 의미를 표현하는 수단으로서 영상 작품에 독특한 예술적 매력을 부여하며, 영화 예술에 있어 여백 형식의 발전은 능동적인 미학적 영향을 미친다. 영상작품 속 여백사상에 대한 깊이 있는 연구를 위해 본문에서는 먼저 '여백'의 정의에 대해서 논의하고 여백이 생겨난 역사와 사회적 기원을 거슬러 올라가서 여백과 도교(道敎)학설의 관계와 중국화 속에서의 응용을 살펴볼 것이다. 다음은 도교에서 말하는 '여백' 사상을 결합하여 영상예술 속에서의 여백의 기능과 예술적 표현, 그리고 사람들의 사상승화에 미친 영향 등을 분석할 것이다. 여백은 하나의 의미표현 수단으로서 미적 가치를 실현함과 동시에 대중의 영화예술 지각능력을 강화한다. 그러하기에 여백이라는 유구한 미학 사상은 새로운 시대, 새로운 영역에서 지속적인 생기를 발산하게 될 것이다.

  • In this study, in order to see effect of the blank holding force on the friction behavior in the sheet metal forming, a sheet metal friction tester is designed and manufactured, which can measure friction forces in various forming conditions, such are lubrication, die roughness, drawing speed, radius of die corner, blank holding force, etc., and performed the friction test in which friction coefficients in various blank holding forces and pulling speeds are calculated using Coulomb's friction law. The friction test reveals that friction coefficient decreases maximum 30% as the blank holding force and the drawing speed are increased to 2.5kN and 1500mm/min, respectively.

  • Automotive manufacturers lay their eyes on the new manufacturing technologies because of the strengthened competition. Among them, a simultaneous forming is one of the innovative forming technologies to be able to reduce production time and cost. Several parts can be simultaneous manufactured by process, while the conventional stamping demands the same number of die sets with the number of parts. In this study, the automotive front side member was manufactured by the simultaneous forming. The position and the size of initial blank were determined by forming analysis and try-outs, and the blank movement during the forming was controlled by introducing the pilot pin.

  • Laser welded tailored blanks(TB) are increasingly used in automotive parts. Among these, TB side panel has forming difficulties in stretch flanging areas such as front and center pillar lower region. To avoid splits in the stretch flanging areas, Proper design of blank shape and drawbeads are essential In this study, the forming simulaton is carried out to investigate the influences of blank shape and drawbeads on stretch flange formability of different thickness TB. And an optimization procedure including the effects of both the blank design and drawbeads is presented. The optimization procedure proposed in this study is expected to be effectively used in blank and die design of TB side panel.

  • Welded blank hydroforming technology is applied to an automotive subframe which has been manufactured by stamping and welding processes. Blank shape and die system is suggested on the basis of finite element analyses. Various defects, especially wrinkling problems in the area of sudden section change, are investigated, analyzed and tried out. The blank shape and the die system are modified to get the sound welded blank hydroformed subframe.
