  • The purpose of this study is to provide basic data for the establishment of the management plan of Seoullo 7017 after analyzing the characteristics of immigration plants in addition to those introduced plants. The taxa number of plants appeared as 276 taxa including 82 families, 161 genera, 246 species, 1 subspecies, 22 varieties and 7 forms. Among them, immigration plants appeared 79 classification groups, including 32 families, 65 genera, 77 species and 2 varieties. Invasive alien plants appeared as 22 classification groups in 79 classification groups of immigration plants. The ratio of America origin plants, second period(1932~1960) in introduction time and the wide diffusion species is high. In June, the growth and occurrence time of the immigration plants was the highest by monthly the characteristics of the growth of the immigration plants, the immigration plants appeared mostly. In case of dormancy form among life-form, the therophytes(th), in the propagation form-radicoid form, the R5(monophyte), in the propagation form-disseminule form, the gravity D4(having no special modification for dissemination), and in the growth form, the erect form(e) was high. The various immigration plants appeared in green areas covered by Zoysia japonica and low Hedera helix densities. This study is the first flora study since Seoullo 7017 was opened in 2017. And so continuous flora monitoring is required for Seoullo 7017.

  • Land use is a critical factor that affects the hydrological characteristics of watersheds, thereby determining the biological condition of streams. This study analyzes the effects of land uses in the watersheds on biological indicators of streams across the Han River basin using a linear model (LM) and generalized additive model (GAM). LULC and biological monitoring data of streams were obtained from the Korean Ministry of Environment. The proportions of urban, agricultural, and forest areas in the watersheds were regressed to the three biological indicators, including diatom, benthic macroinvertebrate, and fish of streams. The estimated LM and GAM models for the biological indicators were then compared, using regression determination R2 and AIC values. The results revealed that GAM models performed better than the LM models in explaining the variances of biological indicators of streams, indicating the non-linear relationships between biological indicators and land uses in watersheds. Also, the results suggested that the indicator of macroinvertebrates was the most sensitive indicator to land uses in watersheds. Although non-linear relationships between watershed land uses and biological indicators of streams could vary among biological indicators, it was consistent that streams' biological integrity significantly deteriorated by a relatively low percentage of urban areas. Meanwhile, biological indicators of streams were negatively affected by the relatively high percentage of agricultural areas. The results of this study can be integrated into effective quantitative criteria for the watershed management and land use plans to enhance the biological integrity of streams. In specific, land uses management plans in watersheds may need more close attention to urban land use changes than agricultural land uses to sustain the biological integrity of streams.

  • Fermentation strategies for recombinant protein production in Pichia pastoris have been investigated and are reviewed here. Characteristics of the expression system, such as phenotypes and carbon utilization, are summarized. Recently reported results such as growth model establishment, app58lication of a methanol sensor, optimization of substrate feeding strategy, DOstat controller design, mixed feed technology, and perfusion and continuous culture are discussed in detail.

  • An unrecorded Ceriporiopsis species was collected at Mt. Gariwang, Gangwon Province, in 2008. Based on morphological characteristics, such as a fully resupinate basidiocarp, a reddish white to pinkish poroid hymenophore and a monomitic hyphal system with clamp connections, the species was identified as Ceriporiopsis resinascens. This is the first report of Ceriporiopsis resinascens in Korea. We confirmed the identity of the species as Ceriporiopsis resinascens based on ITS sequence analysis.

  • We describe three feather mites recovered from a wood sandpiper Tringa glareola that was stored in a $-20^{\circ}C$ freezer at the Chungnam Wild Animal Rescue Center. These feather mites are reported for the first time in South Korea: Avenzoaria totani (Canestrini, 1978), Ingrassia veligera Oudemans, 1904 and Montchadskiana glareolae Dabert and Ehrnsberger, 1999. In this study, we provide morphological diagnoses and illustrations. Additionally, we provide partial sequences of the mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I(COI) gene as molecular characteristics of three species.

  • To examine the taxonomic position and affinities of Isopyrum mandshuricum (Ranunculaceae) and related taxa, genetic analysis were carried out on the basis of isozyme patterns and ITS sequences. Molecular data, both isozyme patterns and ITS sequences suggest that I. mandshuricum is closely related to Enemion raddeanum than to Semiaquilegia adoxoides. The estimation of genetic identities by isozyme analysis reveals that I. manshuricum is genetically distant from E. raddeanum. The phylogenetic tree based on molecular data is rather congruent with the phenogram based on quantitative morphological characteristics, but not consistent with one based on qualitative morphological characteristics. Incongruencies between molecular and qualitative morphological data provide clues to re-evaluate several morphological features.

  • This study was aimed to clarify the morphological and ecological characteristics of Dolichomitus cephalotes and Dolichomitus curticornis in order to provide basic data to be used for biological control against Monochamus saltuarius. D. cephalotes and D. curticornis are univioltine in the central region of Korea and overwinters as larval stage inside the cocoon. Both species are ectoparasitoid, and a solitary parasitoid. D. cephalotes adults are emerged from the beginning of April to the middle of May, while D. curticornis adults are emerged from late April to mid-May.

  • Chemical application, one of the most important crop management processes happened to cause spray drift, that would threaten farmers in field as well as dwellers in rural region. Spray drift was affected by micro-meteorological parameters. In Korea, a boom sprayer was introduced but good effects of a boom sprayer was not evaluated. A study to evaluate short distance drift characteristics of a boom sprayer in paddy fields has been undergoing and determining wind characteristics in paddy field was the main purpose of this paper. Micro-meteorological information has been pre-requisite information for evaluating drift in both long and short distances or in both theoretical and experimental ways. Wind velocity, Reynolds stresses, turbulence intensity, skewness, kurtosis etc. were evaluated with height from the ground using a 2-dimensional probe and a hot wire anemometer system.

  • Recent rapid creation of data has resulted in the development of big data technologies. In particular, with the development of wearable devices that measure biological signals, a variety of biological signals are growing exponentially. Thus, storage technologies are required to identify and systematically store characteristics of exponential increase in biological signals. In this paper, we will study the storage design that stores the biometrics by identifying the characteristics of the biometrics and the techniques to collect the biometrics.
