  • The aim of this paper is to analyze the development of effective online Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and Project-Based Learning (PjBL). The collaborative PBL/PjBL become one of the hot issues with the rapid growth of online learning in the era of COVID-19. Educators try to get innovative to continue instruction without sacrificing student engagement, thus adopting an instructional model of PBL/PjBL. The PBL process involves clarifying terms, defining complex problems, brainstorming, structuring and hypothesis while PjBL includes project-planning, implementation, communicating the results of a project in a presentation and evaluations with immediate individually tailored feedback within a predetermined period. Despite the differences between online and offline learning, the benefits of learning online or offline are practically the same if enough bidirectional interactions between instructors and students are possible. We argue that online qualifications are just the same as those of offline ones in PBL/PjBL models, therefore, the standards of online/offline learning are identical since education is a two-way communication.

  • We propose a bandwidth prediction approach based on deep learning. The approach is intended to accurately predict the bandwidth of various types of mobile networks. We first use a machine learning technique, namely, the gradient boosting algorithm, to recognize the connected mobile network. Second, we apply a handover detection algorithm based on network recognition to account for vertical handover that causes the bandwidth variance. Third, as the communication performance offered by 3G, 4G, and 5G networks varies, we suggest a bidirectional long short-term memory model with time distribution for bandwidth prediction per network. To increase the prediction accuracy, pretraining and fine-tuning are applied for each type of network. We use a dataset collected at University College Cork for network recognition, handover detection, and bandwidth prediction. The performance evaluation indicates that the handover detection algorithm achieves 88.5% accuracy, and the bandwidth prediction model achieves a high accuracy, with a root-mean-square error of only 2.12%.

  • Both brown and white adipose tissues (BAT/WAT) are innervated by the peripheral nervous system, including efferent sympathetic nerves that communicate from the brain/central nervous system out to the tissue, and afferent sensory nerves that communicate from the tissue back to the brain and locally release neuropeptides to the tissue upon stimulation. This bidirectional neural communication is important for energy balance and metabolic control, as well as maintaining adipose tissue health through processes like browning (development of metabolically healthy brown adipocytes in WAT), thermogenesis, lipolysis, and adipogenesis. Decades of sensory nerve denervation studies have demonstrated the particular importance of adipose sensory nerves for brown adipose tissue and WAT functions, but far less is known about the tissue's sensory innervation compared to the better-studied sympathetic nerves and their neurotransmitter norepinephrine. In this review, we cover what is known and not yet known about sensory nerve activities in adipose, focusing on their effector neuropeptide actions in the tissue.

  • To address the issue of class imbalance in network traffic data, which affects the network intrusion detection performance, a combined framework using transformers is proposed. First, Tomek Links, SMOTE, and WGAN are used to preprocess the data to solve the class-imbalance problem. Second, the transformer is used to encode traffic data to extract the correlation between network traffic. Finally, a hybrid deep learning network model combining a bidirectional gated current unit and deep neural network is proposed, which is used to extract long-dependence features. A DNN is used to extract deep level features, and softmax is used to complete classification. Experiments were conducted on the NSLKDD, UNSWNB15, and CICIDS2017 datasets, and the detection accuracy rates of the proposed model were 99.72%, 84.86%, and 99.89% on three datasets, respectively. Compared with other relatively new deep-learning network models, it effectively improved the intrusion detection performance, thereby improving the communication security of network data.

  • This review explores the complexities of autism spectrum disorder (ASD), primarily focusing on the significant eating challenges faced by children and adolescents with this neurodevelopmental condition. It is common for individuals with ASD to exhibit heightened sensitivity to various sensory aspects of food such as taste, texture, smell, and visual appeal, leading to restricted and less diverse diets. These dietary limitations are believed to contribute to an imbalance in the gut microbiota. This review elaborates on how these eating problems, coupled with the distinctive characteristics of ASD, might be influenced by and, in turn, influence the gut-brain axis, a bidirectional communication system between the gastrointestinal tract and the brain. This discussion aims to shed light on the multifaceted interactions and potential implications of diet, gut health, and neurological development and function in children and adolescents with ASD.

  • Network Coding(NC) is a new paradigm for network communication. In network coding, intermediate nodes create new packets by algebraically combining ingress packets and send it to its neighbor node by broadcast manner. Network Coding has rapidly emerged as a major research area in information theory due to its wide applicability to communication through real networks. Network coding is expected to improve throughput and channel efficiency in the wireless multi-hop network. Prior researches have been carried out to employ network coding to wireless ad-hoc network. In our study, intermediate nodes identify one-hop bidirectional flows for network coding decision. We expect that the proposed scheme shall improve decoding success rate of network coded packet. From the simulation, the proposed network coding scheme achieved better performance in terms of coding gain and packet delivery rate than traditional network coding scheme.

  • Recently, demand for real-time data and multimedia data is rapidly increasing, and it is impossible for mobile Ad Hoc networks with only best effort service to efficiently transfer such data. So, we absolutely need the QoS service which reserves the communication resources in advance. The existing routing protocols, which assume that the links between nodes are bidirectional, provide the convenience for the route discovery and maintenance, but can not support the routing function for the unidirectional links due to the wireless link property easily changing with time under the real wireless environment. In order to solve such problems, in this dissertation we suggested a unidirectional QoS routing a waste of communication resources. The waste of protocol that supports unidirectional links and reduces communication resources is reduced by establishing the shortest route suitable to QoS support, considering in advance the usable communication resources at each node.
