  • Many factors playa role in designing the interface for bibliographic data entry system in response to the various needs. Among the major variables to be considered are planning, record format, screen design, automatic generation of access points, error checking, download from bibliographic databases, character codes, card catalog production, and use of authority data. This paper described with examples how these design considerations can be implemented in empirical system.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify how users react with the search options and bibliographic information during search reformulation on the online catalog. Two online catalogs(N0TIS system and Dynix system) were selected and undergraduate students were recruited as the participants for this study. The study shows that the search options and bibliographic information affected the type of the query reformulation and the re-choice of the search options during search.

  • A user who retrieved relevant documents from the existing commercial databases may be not always satisfied with the results of the traditional bibliographic searches using the subject index terms. On the assumption that the user wants more relevant documents in such instances, this thesis presents an expanded search strategy by carrying out an experiment using bibliographic citations as another content indicator in addition to index terms.

  • This study intends to investigate the processing of the bibliographic relationships in the MARC formats based on the analysis to the related cataloging rules. In the traditional cataloging rules, many methods are used to process the bibliographic relationships(vertical, horizontal, and chronological), including analytics, references, notes, and independent entry. Linking entry fields in the MARC formats have been introduced mainly to process the chronological relationship in the serials, but later expanded, as a chronological in MARC format, to include other relationships applied to all other materials. Comparative analysis on the linking entry suggests that there are rare differences between UNIMARC and USMARC formats except the terminology and display constants, and that it is desirable in the KORMARC and JAPAN MARC to introduce the linking entry more comprehensively.

  • The Bavarian town of Regensburg was a library travel destination during the European Enlightenment. With at least 26 collections, the number and variety of its private, governmental, school, and religious libraries rivaled that of much larger cities and figured in the bibliographic travel accounts of Johann Keyssler, Christoph Nicolai, Carl Oelrichs, Filippo Argellati, Georg Zapf, Friedrich Hirsching, Adalbert Blumenschein, and many others. The first-hand descriptions of these repositories are unique primary sources for the study of library history. Having been accessible to researchers largely in published forms, many were designed to serve as bibliographic aids for informing scholars about the locations of specialized subject collections and some individual works. The journals, letters, guidebooks, and texts also reflected the evolving scholarly and scientific nature of their cultural period. Overall, this case study of Regensburg’s libraries illustrates the particular value of contemporary travel literature.

  • The convergence of machine learning and smart farm is becoming more and more important. The purpose of this research is to quantitatively analyze machine learning and smart farm with bibliographic data from 2013 to 2023. This study analyzed the 251 articles, filtered from the Web of Science, with regard to the article publication trend, the article citation trend, the top 10 research area, and the top 10 keywords representing the articles. The quantitative analysis results reveal the four points: First, the number of article publications in machine learning and smart farm continued growing from 2016. Second, the article citations in machine learning and smart farm drastically increased since 2018. Third, Computer Science, Engineering, Agriculture, Telecommunications, Chemistry, Environmental Sciences Ecology, Material Science, Instruments Instrumentation, Science Technology Other Topics, and Physics are top 10 research areas. Fourth, it is 'machine learning', 'smart farming', 'internet of things', 'precision agriculture', 'deep learning', 'agriculture', 'big data', 'machine', 'smart' and 'smart agriculture' that are the top 10 keywords composing authors' keywords in the articles in machine learning and smart farm from 2013 to 2023.

  • Recently, many researches habe been done to organize and analyze various complex relationships in real world, represented in the form of graphs. In particular, the computer field literature data system, such as DBLP, is a representative graph data in which can be composed of papers, their authors, and citation among papers. Becasue graph data is very complex in storage structure and expression, it is very difficult task to search, analysis, and visualize a large size of bibliographic big data. In this paper, we develop a graphic user interface tool, called EEUM, which visualizes bibliographic big data in the form of graphs. EEUM provides the features to browse bibliographic big data according to the connected graph structure by visually displaying graph data, and implements search, management and analysis of the bibliographc big data. It also shows that EEUM can be conveniently used to search, explore, and analyze by applying EEUM to the bibliographic graph big data provided by DBLP. Through EEUM, you can easily find influential authors or papers in every research fields, and conveniently use it as a search and analysis tool for complex bibliographc big data, such as giving you a glimpse of all the relationships between several authors and papers.

  • According to database and information technology development, many interests of database quality control have being increase. The purpose of database quality control is improvement quality of data itself as well as database system to satisfy user's need. As this paper was especially written about quality control of bibliographic database, to embody complete bibliographic database, it was invested numerous errors and its case by analyzing MARC records. In addition, it was presented that high degree's cataloging education, introduction of su n.0, pporting systems, and development of intelligent quality control system for quality improvement.

  • In this study, we constructed a hypertext-based bibliographic information retrieval system, which is very usell tool to browse and retrieve structured data. We minimized the problem of the use; s disorientation with the keyword retrieval technique. We also presented the potential advantages of this system which could be obtained by implementing it on WWW.

  • The Creation of bibliographic records for conference publication is difficult for catalogers and the records are difficult for patrons to use. We have found many difficulties in cataloging conference publications, because of the insufficiency and ambiguity of the cataloging rule. This study deals with the characteristics, type and data elements of conference publications, and the problems of the choice of heading and the creation of bibliographic records in the USMARC and KORMARC.
