Microstructures and Mechanical Properties of Pressureless and Spark Plasma Sintered ZrO2(3 mol%Y2O3) Bodies

  • The microstructures and mechanical properties of Tetragonal Zirconia Polycrystals (TZP) sintered bodies, which made by pressureless and spark plasma sintering techniques, were investigated using XRD, SEM, and TEM techniques. In the spark plasma sintered samples, the TZP grains were equiaxed type including many sub-grain boundaries regardless of sintering conditions. The biaxial strength of TZP having an average of 80 nm grains in diameter was high in value with 1025 MPa, but fracture toughness showed a low value due to the absence of a fracture toughening mechanism such as transformation toughening. In the Pressureless Sintered (PLSed) samples, the grain size of TZP was strongly dependent on the sintering temperature; i.e., it gradually increased as the sintering temperature increased. The value of fracture toughness increased as the grain size increased by the stress-induced phase transformation and Borne crack deflection.

  • In recent years, there has been a considerable interest in the application of super plastic forming in the aircraft and automotive industries. This requires a detailed design of the technological process in order to exploit its peculiar potentialities better. Nowadays, the finite element method is used to plan the sheet metal forming processes whose simulation requires determination of material constants for super plastic materials. The present work is aimed to show a simple method to characterize super plastic materials duplex stainless steel which was formed by a constant gaspressure to hemispheres with and without back pressure. The forming operation was performed using an in-house designed and built biaxial forming apparatus. The temporal change of dome heights of hemispheres were measured for applying the pressures. The flow stresses and strain rates developed at the top of the dome during the forming step were shown to follow closely the flow stress - strain rate relationship obtained from the strain rate change tests performed at the same temperature.

  • 본연구에서는 이상화구조요소법(理想化構造要素法)을 적용하여 선체구조(船體構造)의 최종(最終) 종강도(縱强度)를 효율적으로 해석할 수 있는 방법을 개발하였다. 이를 위해 2축방향 축력을 받는 판요소(板要素)에 대한 이상화판요소(理想化板要素)를 초기처짐과 잔류응력의 영향 및 국부구조와 전체구조간의 상관효과를 고려하여 정식화하였다. 본 해석법을 이중선각구조(二重船殼構造)로 된 4만톤급 정유운반선(精油運搬船)에 적용하여 초기처짐, 잔류응력 및 재료의 항복응력의 변화에 따른 선각(船殼)거어더의 최종(最終) 종강도(縱强度)를 해석하고, 이들 결과를 바탕으로 종강도(縱强度)측면에서의 잉여강도계수(剩餘强度係數) 및 신뢰성지표(信賴性指標)를 평가하였다.

  • 그로멧은 자동차의 고무부품들 중의 하나로 에틸렌 프로필렌 고무로 구성되어 있으며, 고무의 비선형 초탄성 성질은 고무제품의 거동을 예측하는데 중요하다. 본 논문에서는, 일축인장시험과 이축인장시험을 통하여 안정된 응력-변형률 관계를 구하고 그로멧에 대한 유한요소해석을 수행하였고, 수명예측을 위한 노화시험을 소개하였다.

Al Doped ZnO 박막의 열처리에 따른 태양전지용 투명전도막 특성 (Properties of TCO Fabricated with Annealing Temperature of Al Doped ZnO Film for Solar Cell Application)

  • The annealing temperature effect of transparent conducting oxide film grown on glass substrate for solar cell application was studied in this paper. Using pulsed DC magnetron sputtering with 1 at% Al-doped ZnO target, TCO films were deposited on coming 7059 glass at room temperature. Al:ZnO thin films were annealed at 200, 400, Al $600^{\circ}C$ for 10 min and annealing resulted in lower biaxial compressive stress of about 1GPa and increased average crystallite size in all films. The as-grown film shows the resistivity of $1{\times}10^{-2}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$ and transmittance under 80%, whereas the electrical and optical properties of film annealed at $400^{\circ}C$ are enhanced up to $5{\times}10^{-4}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$ and 85%, respectively.

Buckling analysis in hybrid cross-ply composite laminates on elastic foundation using the two variable refined plate theory

  • This paper presents the effect of hybridization material on variation of critical buckling load with different cross-ply laminates plate resting on elastic foundations of Winkler and Pasternak types subjected to combine uniaxial and biaxial loading by using two variable refined plate theories. Governing equations are derived from the principle of virtual displacement; the formulation is based on a new trigonometric shape function of displacement taking into account transverse shear deformation effects vary parabolically across the thickness satisfying shear stress free surface conditions. These equations are solved analytically using the Navier solution of a simply supported. The influence of the various parameters geometric and material, the thickness ratio, and the number of layers symmetric and antisymmetric hybrid laminates material has been investigated to find the critical buckling loads. The numerical results obtained through the present study with several examples are presented to verify and compared with other models with the ones available in the literature.

  • 고무부품의 신뢰성을 확보하기 위해서 고무재료의 물성파악과 수명평가는 매우 중요하다 하겠다. 본 연구에서는 냉장고 콤프레샤 모터에서 발생되는 소음 및 진동 제어 목적으로 고무마운트에 사용되는 고무재료인 NBR과 EPDM에 대해 상온과 $70^{\circ}C,\;85^{\circ}C,\;100^{\circ}C$에서 75일 동안 노화시킨 상태에서 단축 인장과 이축 인장으로 물성시험을 수행하여 가교밀도, 100% 모듈러스 변화와 응력-변형률 관계를 파악하였다. 또한, 고무소재의 노화수명을 예측하기 위해 가속열 노화시험을 수행하여 시간-온도 환산식인 아레니우스 관계식을 구하였다.

A novel refined shear deformation theory for the buckling analysis of thick isotropic plates

  • In present study, a novel refined hyperbolic shear deformation theory is proposed for the buckling analysis of thick isotropic plates. The new displacement field is constructed with only two unknowns, as against three or more in other higher order shear deformation theories. However, the hyperbolic sine function is assigned according to the shearing stress distribution across the plate thickness, and satisfies the zero traction boundary conditions on the top and bottom surfaces of the plate without using any shear correction factors. The equations of motion associated with the present theory are obtained using the principle of virtual work. The analytical solution of the buckling of simply supported plates subjected to uniaxial and biaxial loading conditions was obtained using the Navier method. The critical buckling load results for thick isotropic square plates are compared with various available results in the literature given by other theories. From the present analysis, it can be concluded that the proposed theory is accurate and efficient in predicting the buckling response of isotropic plates.

Buckling behavior of cold-formed steel lipped channel beam-column members under monotonic and cyclic loadings

  • The use of cold-formed steel members is increasing day by day, especially in regions where earthquake effects are intensively experienced. Among cold-formed steel members (CFS), "channel" members are used more than other crosssectional members, especially in buildings or industrial structures. In recent years, several studies have been carried out on the axial load and flexural performance of these members under monotonic loading. In this study, CFS beam-column members were cyclically and monotonically loaded under combined axial load and biaxial bending moments, and their buckling behavior, load bearing capacity, stiffness, ductility, and energy absorption capacity were determined. For this purpose, monotonic and cyclic loading experiments were carried out on 30 CFS channel members at 15 different eccentricities. Then, material properties were determined by axial monotonic tensile and very low cycle fatigue tests for use in numerical studies. From the experimental results, the buckling modes, bearing capacities, ductility, stiffness, and energy absorption capacities of the members were obtained. The characteristics of the members were compared according to the stress state of the lips. According to the data obtained from the displacement transducer placed on the lips and on the back of the web, information about the buckling mode and curvature of the members was obtained. Finally, monotonic, and cyclic loading results were compared to determine the differences in the buckling behavior of the members.

구속응력을 받는 콘크리트 구조물 해석을 위한 콘크리트 구성모델 (A Concrete Model for Analysis of Concrete Structure with Confinement)

  • 본 연구에서는 단조하중, 반복하중, 비례하중, 비례하지 않는 하중을 받는 콘크리트 구조물의 3차원 유한요소해석을 위한 비선형 아소성 콘크리트 모델을 개발하였다. 이 구성모델은 등가일축변형률 개념을 기초로 하여 3차원 구성관계를 세 개의 서로 독립된 등가일축 구성관계로 바꾸고 이들 통하여 콘크리트의 거동을 예측하도록 모델되었다. 일축 구성관계는 Willam-Warnke의 파괴면을 이용하여 주응력공간에서 구해진 최대 압축응력으로부터 결정되었다. 특히 중수압축을 따라 재하되는 하중에 대한 콘크리트의 비선형 특성을 예측하기 위하여 파괴면에 캡면을 도입하였다. 일축 구성관계는 Popovis와 Saenz의 모델을 근거로 하여 구속응력이 증가함에 따라 취성에서 연성으로 변화하는 현상을 묘사할 수 있도록 새롭게 유도하였다. 개발된 모델을 모델의 성능을 평가하기 위하여 여러 실험결과와의 비교를 시도하였다. 먼저 일정한 구속응력과 단조하중을 받는 실험결과와 비교하였고, 이축압축실험과 비례하지 않는 하중과 반복하중을 받는 삼축압축 실험결과와 비교하였다.
