선체곡판의 압축최종강도 설계식의 개발 (The Development of Ultimate Compressive Strength for Ship Curved Plates)

  • Ship structures is thin-walled structures and she has lots of curved platings. In these days, lots different kinds of closed-formulas are development for ultimate strength of flat plate but for curved panels, there are not enough study or papers for this field. In this study, the ultimate strength characteristics for ship curved plates are studied. The ship plating is generally subjected to combined in-plane and lateral pressure loads. In-plane loads included biaxial compression/tension and edge shear. This is first report about the developing of ultimate compressive strength for ship curved plating. A closed-form formula for predicting the ultimate compressive strength of curved plates are empirically derived by curve fitting based on the computed results. The results and insights developed in the present study will be useful for damage tolerant design of curved plated structures.

Numerical method for the strength of two-dimensional concrete struts

  • For the reliable strut-and-tie model (STM) design of disturbed regions of concrete members, structural designers must accurately determine the strength of concrete struts to check the strength conditions of a selected STM el and the anchorage of reinforcing bars in nodal zones. In this study, the author proposed a consistent numerical method for strut strength, applicable to all two-dimensional STMs. The proposed method includes the effects of a biaxial stress state associated with tensile strains in reinforcing bars crossing a strut, deviation angle between strut orientation and compressive principal stress flow, and degree of confinement provided by reinforcement. The author examined the method's validity through the STM prediction of the ultimate strengths of 517 reinforced concrete (RC) deep beams, 24 RC panels, and 258 RC corbels, all tested to failure.

Y-TZP zirconia의 기계적 표면처리가 파절저항과 접착계면 실패에 미치는 영향 (Effect of mechanical surface treatment on the fracture resistance and interfacial bonding failure of Y-TZP zirconia)

  • 목적: 본 연구의 목적은 air-blasting particle size를 달리하고 분사 압력과 시간을 통상보다 크게 증가시켜 표면에 큰 손상을 유발한 군을 상대적으로 작은 손상을 유발한 군과 비교하여 파절 저항과 접착 강도 차이를 보이는지 평가하는 데 있다. 연구 재료 및 방법: 지르코니아($LAVA^{TM}$) 디스크 표면에 각각 $30{\mu}m$- particle size (Cojet) 2.8 bar 15초, $110{\mu}m$- (Rocatec) 2.8 bar 15초, $110{\mu}m$- (Rocatec) 3.8 bar 30초로 조건을 달리하여 표면처리 후 각각 이축 굽힘하중 강도 실험과 접착 파절 하중 실험을 실행하였다. 접착은 상아질 유사 베이스에 $200{\mu}m$ 두께의 레진시멘트로 시행하여 인장력을 극대화하였으며 음향방출(AE) 센서로 실패하중을 검출하였다. 결과: 이축 굽힘하중 강도, 접착 파절하중은 세 군간 서로 유의성 있는 차이를 보이지 않았다(P > 0.05). 접착 시편의 균열은 대부분 radial crack이었다. 결론: 정하중 평가의 한계 내에서, air-blasting particle size와 압력에 의한 표면 손상은 크지 않았으며, 접착 파절하중 평가는 표면 손상과 접착 강도를 동시에 평가할 수 있는 방법이라 여겨진다.

Empress 2 도재의 두께에 따른 파절강도에 관한 연구 (INFLUENCE OF THICKNESS OF EMPRESS 2 CERAMIC ON FRACTURE STRENGTH)

  • All-ceramic restorations have had a more limited life expectancy than metal ceramic crowns be-cause of their lower strength. The relatively lower strength has limited the use of all-ceramic crowns to the areas where occlusal loads are lower Therefore many researches have been done to increase the strength of all-ceramic crowns. IPS Empress 2 is a new type of lithium disilicate glass-ceramic with enhanced physical characteristics which has been in use clinically since 1998. Previous researches reported that the flexural strength of all-ceramic material was greater than 300 MPa, and all-ceramic crowns can be used in staining or layering technique. The objective of this study was to investigate the influence of the thickness of IPS Empress 2 ceramic on fracture strength. Both staining technique and layering technique was investigated. Vita VMK was used as control. For all three groups, five specimens each of 0.8mm, 1.0mm, 1.4mm, 1.8mm, and 2.2mm thick-ness (a total of 75 specimens) were prepared. Control group : Vita VMK Porcelain specimens were prepared with dentine ceramic and liquid glazing was done. Group I : IPS Empress 2 were prepared with staining technique and stained twice and glazed once. Group II : IPS Empress 2 were prepared with layering technique and glazed after wash firing. The thickness and diameter of the specimen were measured and controlled after specimen preparation. Biaxial Flexure Test (ASTM Standard F394-78) was adopted as this test method produces results least affected by the edge condition of the specimens. Fracture strength was measured with Instron Universal Testing Machine. Conclusions are as follow : 1. The fracture strength was increase in order of control group, test group I, test group II. 2. Fracture strength of the group I (Empress 2 Staining) was 65.54 N in 0.8mm, 155.2 N in 1.0mm, 233.5 N in 1.4mm, 434.5 N in 1.8mm, and 600.1 N in 2.2mm. 3. Fracture strength of the group II (Empress 2 Layering) was 190.0 N in 0.8mm, 283.5 N in 1.0mm. 437.2 N in 1.4mm, 732.0 N in 1.8mm, and 1115.0 N in 2.2mm. 4. No statistical difference was found in flexural strengths according to thickness in a specified group(p>0.05).

도시철도 차량 차륜재의 다축 피로강도 평가 (Evaluation of Multiaxial Fatigue Strength of a Urban Railway Wheel Steel)

  • Uniaxial and biaxial torsional fatigue tests were conducted on the samples extracted from urban railway wheel steel. Ultimate and yield strengths of the steel were 1027.7 MPa and 626 MPa, respectively. The uniaxial fatigue limit was 422.5 MPa, corresponding 67% of the ultimate tensile strength. The ratio of ${\tau}_e/{\sigma}_e$ was 0.63. Fatigue strength coefficient and exponent were 1319.5 MPa and 0.339, respectively. Maximum principal and equivalent strain were found to be adequate parameter to predict fatigue lifetime of the steel under multiaixal fatigue condition.

  • The mechanical characteristics of three types of core with two-dimensional isotropic patterns-triangular, hexagonal and starcell-were studied in applications to sandwich structures. The Young's modulus and shear modulus were calculated for the three core types in the direction normal to the faces. The compressive buckling strength and shear buckling strength were calculated by modeling each cell wall of the core as a plate under compressive or shear load. To verify this model, tests were conducted on scaled specimens to measures the compressive buckling strength of each core. The bending flexibilities of the three cores were also studied. Compliances for the three cores were measured using biaxial flexural tests. The three isotropic core patterns exhibited distinct characteristics. In the direction normal to the faces, all three cores had the same stiffness. However, the starcell core exhibited high flexibility compared to the other cores, indicating potential for application to curved sandwich structures.

선박 이중판의 보강법 연구 (A Study on the Reinforced Method of Doubler Plate in Ship Hull Structure)

  • A study of the structural strength evaluation on the doubler plate, considering various load cases that were subjected to in-plane and out of plane combined load, has been performed through the systematic evaluation process. In order to estimate the proper static strength of doubler plate for various load cases, elasto-plastic large deflection analysis is introduced, including the contact effect between main plate and doubler. The characteristics of stiffness and strength variation are discussed, based on the results. In order to compare the doubler structure with the original strength of main plate, without doubler, simple formulas for the evaluation of the equivalent flat plate thickness are derived for each load case, respectively, based on the additional series of analysis of flat plate structure. Using these derived equations, the thickness change of an equivalent flat plate is analyzed according to the variation of various design parameters of doubler platesome design guides are suggested in order to maintain the original strength of main plate without doubler reinforcement. Finally, correlation between derived equivalent flat plate formula and the developed buckling strength formulas are discovered, and these relations are formulated for the future development of simple strength evaluation formula of general doubler plate structure.

Translucent zirconia의 layer 간 비교 및 추가적인 소성이 굽힘강도, 투과도에 미치는 영향 (The comparisons of layers and the effect of additional firings on flexural strength and translucency of 5Y-ZP)

  • 목적: 5Y-ZP의 세가지 층 간 굽힘강도, 투과도를 비교하고 추가적인 소성이 미치는 영향을 연구하고자 하였다. 연구 재료 및 방법: 소결한 지르코니아 블록을 세가지 층에 따라 분리한 후 원형 디스크 시편을 제작하였다. 시편의 직경은 15.0 mm이며, 2축굽힘강도와 투과도를 측정하기 위한 시편의 두께는 각각 1.2 mm와 1.0 mm이다. 시편들을 추가적인 소성 횟수(0, 1, 3번)에 따라 세 군으로 분류한 후 추가적인 소성은 900℃ 이하의 온도에서 퍼니스를 사용하여 소성 횟수에 따라 시행하였다. 만능재료시험기와 자외선-가시광선 분광광도계를 사용하여 2축굽힘강도와 투과도를 측정하였다. 상의 변화를 관찰하기 위해 X선 회절 분석을 시행하였다. 측정값은 One-way ANOVA, Tukey HSD test를 통하여 분석하였다(α = 0.05). 결과: 층 간 2축굽힘강도는 유의한 차이가 없었지만(P > 0.05) 투과도는 유의한 차이가 있었다(P < 0.05). 절단 및 전이층은 1번의 추가적인 소성 후 굽힘강도가 유의하게 감소하였으며, 3번의 추가적인 소성 후에는 모든 층의 굽힘강도가 소성 전과 비교하여 유의하게 감소하였다. 몸체 층을 제외한 나머지 층들은 추가적인 소성 후에 투과도가 유의하게 감소하였다. 모든 그룹의 X선 회절 분석 결과는 유사하였다. 결론: 5Y-ZP의 세 층은 투과도의 차이만 존재하였다. 추가적인 소성은 각 층의 굽힘강도와 투과도에 다른 영향을 미쳤으나 상전이는 발견되지 않았다.

  • Numerical studies were carried out to investigate the long-term behavior of late plates in basement, subjected to combined in-plane compressive and transverse loads. For the numerical studies, a computer program of nonlinear finite element analysis was modified by adding function of creep and shrinkage analysis. This numerical method was verified by comparison with the existing experiments. Parametric studies were performed to investigate the strength variations of flat plates with three parameters; 1) loading sequence of floor load, compression and time 2) uniaxial an biaxial compression and 3) the ratio of dead to live load.
