  • The seoul Metropolitan Government has announced a program of the realization of a Korean garden named 'Seoul Park' in Paris 'Jardin d'Acclimatation' in June, 2000. The program for 'Seoul Park' in Paris has double objectives which aims celebrating the 10th anniversary of the establishment of sisterhood relationship between Seoul and paris and to promote the mutual cooperation and the amity between the two metropolitan cities. The purpose of this study is focusing on the issues on the setting procedure of characteristics of the 'Seoul Park', type of the Park, and design realization of expression of Korean identity, and the cultural consolidation between parks in Korean and French. The Seoul Park will be constructed on the shore of a lake of the Jardin d'Acclimatation, and the size of the area is 4,675㎡. In July, a design competition for the preparation of a schematic plan of the Seoul Park was held in Seoul. In this competition, the author won with a scheme which proposed a Korean Garden as expression of "between" two cultures which is fitted into the French environment. Although, the Seoul Park in Paris is a small Korean garden, its significance would be emphasized in terms of that it represents the adaptation of a Korean culture to the French territory. Throughout the winning entry, we could recognized hat the author defines Korean garden as 'time device', and 'Seoul Park' as 'Situation' which is the consolidation of the cultures between korea and France. And also the author pursued Korean garden as a net type of 'sequence of the event'. In this paper, we have discussed the concept and the schematic plan of the winning entry. focusing on following issues: Definition of the garden; Form of the garden; Expression of Korean garden; Representation of the reconciliation between two environments. Since many parts of the garden are under designing, and the discussion on the resetting of the existing trees in the garden is in progress, more specific investigation will be done in the next thesis.

  • This research examines the characteristics of incubating organizations of hi-tech ventures in the information technology industry. In particular, it attempts to investigate incubating conditions under which entrepreneurs obtain their management abilities and market information, locate business partners and prepare the prototypes of their new products. For the empirical test, three incubator organizations, two universities (Seoul National University and Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology ) and a government research institute (ETRI: Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute) are compared in terms of incubating conditions. It is found that two universities are not different in terms of lab members' demographic characteristics and their attitude towards venture creation. However, the entrepreneurial environments of incubator organizations are different between the universities and ETRI. The universities have more favorable environments than ETRI in terms of management know-how or capabilities, while ETRI has more favorable environments than the universities in terms of the information about markets, distribution channels or customers. The results of this study would provide many policy implementations to administrators of incubator organizations as well as government policy-makers in making effective venture-creation policies.

  • WSN is the major component for information transfer in IoT environments. Source Location Privacy (SLP) has attracted attention in WSN environments. Effective SLP can avoid adversaries to backtrack and capture source nodes. This work presents a Two-Level Randomized Sector-based Routing (TLRSR) model to ensure SLP in wireless environments. Sector creation is the initial process, where the nodes in the network are grouped into defined sectors. The first level routing process identifies sector-based route to the destination node, which is performed by Ant Colony Optimization (ACO). The second level performs route extraction, which identifies the actual nodes for transmission. The route extraction is randomized and is performed using Simulated Annealing. This process is distributed between the nodes, hence ensures even charge depletion across the network. Randomized node selection process ensures SLP and also avoids depletion of certain specific nodes, resulting in increased network lifetime. Experiments and comparisons indicate faster route detection and optimal paths by the TLRSR model.

  • All Idiomarina species are isolated from saline environments; microorganisms in such extreme habitats develop metabolic adaptations and can produce compounds such as proteases with an industrial potential. ARDRA and 16S rRNA gene sequencing are established methods for performing phylogenetic analysis and taxonomic identification. However, 16S-23S ITS is more variable than the 16S rRNA gene within a genus, and is therefore, used as a marker to achieve a more precise identification. In this study, ten protease producing Idiomarina strains isolated from the Peruvian salterns were characterized using biochemical and molecular methods to determine their bacterial diversity and industrial potential. In addition, comparison between the length and nucleotide sequences of a 16S-23S ITS region allowed us to assess the inter and intraspecies variability. Based on the 16S rRNA gene, two species of Idiomarina were identified (I. zobellii and I. fontislapidosi). However, biochemical tests revealed that there were differences between the strains of the same species. Moreover, it was found that the ITS contains two tRNA genes, $tRNA^{Ile(GAT)}$ and $tRNA^{Ala(TGC)}$, which are separated by an ISR of a variable size between strains of I. zobellii. In one strain of I. zobellii (PM21), we found nonconserved nucleotides that were previously not reported in the $tRNA^{Ala}$ gene sequences of Idiomarina spp. Thus, based on the biochemical and molecular characteristics, we can conclude that protease producing Idiomarina strains have industrial potential; only two I. zobellii strains (PM48 and PM72) exhibited the same properties. The differences between the other strains could be explained by the presence of subspecies.

  • Distributed programming can be greatly simplified by language support for distributed communication. Many web-browsers now offer some form of active objects and the number and types of them are growing daily in interesting and innovative ways. Java applets are well known as one kind of active object related to web-browser. This paper focuses in distributed active objects which is one kind of active objects that can communicate with other active objects located in different machines across the Internet. Java RMI and CORBA IDL are two major programming environments for distributed active objects which are non compatible with each other. To make discussion concrete, we introduce a single application as implemented on two environments : the HORM, adopting RMI mechanism, and the OrbixWeb2.0.1, adopting CORBA specification, respectively. Binding, inheritance, polymorphism, object passing and callbacks across the machine boundary in distributed programming environments are issued. The results show that some differences in the implementation of distributed active objects can have a significant impact on how distributed applications are structured. The comparison between two implementations on the programming environments will be the basis for building the translation system between HORB to OrbixWeb and vice versa.

  • In this paper, a new noise compensation method based on the eigenvoice framework in feature space is proposed to reduce the mismatch between training and testing environments. The difference between clean and noisy environments is represented by the linear combination of K eigenvectors that represent the variation among environments. In the proposed method, the performance improvement of speech recognition systems is largely affected by how to construct the noisy models and the bias vector set. In this paper, two methods, the one based on MAP adaptation method and the other using stereo DB, are proposed to construct the noisy models. In experiments using Aurora 2 DB, we obtained 44.86% relative improvement with eigen-environment method in comparison with baseline system. Especially, in clean condition training mode, our proposed method yielded 66.74% relative improvement, which is better performance than several methods previously proposed in Aurora project.

  • In this paper, we propose an effective time-of-arrival (TOA)-based localization method with adaptive bias computation in indoor environments. The goal of the localization is to estimate an accurate target's location in wireless localization system. However, in indoor environments, non-line-of-sight (NLOS) errors block the signal propagation between target device and base station. The NLOS errors have significant effects on ranging between two devices for wireless localization. In TOA-based localization, finding the target's location inside the overlapped area in the TOA-circles is difficult. We present an effective localization method using compensated distance with adaptive bias computation. The proposed method is possible for the target's location to estimate an accurate location in the overlapped area using the measured distances with subtracted adaptive bias. Through localization experiments in indoor environments, estimation error is reduced comparing to the conventional localization methods.

  • This study explores to identify the characteristics of the business model by comparing and analyzing the value creation between two cases, and to be successful in business model innovation. In order for the pursuit of purposes, domestic and international firm' business model cases are analyzed. Regarding the business model innovation, huge differences are found between two cases. First, a clear customer value proposal is important. Netflix is constantly monitoring the customer's needs and satisfactions to improve value proposition, while Joycube, domestic firm does not adjust to meet the change of the customer's behaviors. Second, the business model innovation should be taking into account the customer's behaviors in the constant changing market environments. For the growth, firms should consider strategic monitoring the market environments, and find a novelty of the markets, and to create the jump through business model innovation.

  • By this time, a few of previous studies of factors related to separation from their jobs and job satisfaction only have dealt with the separation rate. the cause of separation and related factors that induce job satisfaction and incentive factors, the actualities of morale some suggestions for reduction of the separation rate. This study is attempted to determine factors that have effect on job satisfaction of national hospital nurses. and to proide information and materials for the development of the administration of nursing through the appreciation of factors influencing on job satisfaction between isolated ward nurses and general ward nurses working at national hospitals. 185 nurses of national hospitals responsed th this study, and were divided into two groups. Group 1: 57 nurses working at isolated wards for tuberculosis patients and Group 2 : 128 nurses at general wards. Relevant data were collected from August, 5, 1992 through August 20, 1992. The questionnaire consisted of 8 genalized items and 4 items concerning job satisfaction. The collected data were processed with SPSS, and the relationship among vaviables was analyzed by means of $X^2-test$, Pearson Correlation, Multiple Regression. The results of this study are as follows: 1. There is no significant difference between two groups in terms of generalized items. Age distributions show $44.3\%$ under the category of less than 34. and $55.7\%$ under the category more than 35, $19.3%$ was single and $74.6\%$ was married respectively. 2. $79.4\%$ of the nurses have the desire to have in-service education under the satisfactory physical environments such as welfare system, accommodating structures and facilities, instruments or management systems of the hospital, but under the category of unsatisfactory circumstances, $60.3\%$ have the intention of having in- service education. The concern in terms of in-service education shows statistically significant difference between two groups $(X^2=8.85,\;p<0. 05)$. This result accepts the hypothesis that good physical environments could intensify interests in service education. 3. The extent of satisfaction related to psychological environments is heightend according to good physical environments. In result, the hypothesis that the extent of satisfaction in terms of physical environments could raise satisfaction about psychological environment is accepted. 4. In the light of the extent of satisfaction about physical environments, $33.3\%$ of isolated ward nurses are satisfied with physical environments, but only $11.7\%$ of general ward nurses are satisfied. $(X^2=10.88,\; p<0.01)$. This result shows that the satisfaction degree about phusicalenvironments of isolated war nurses was higher than that of general ward nurses in spite of high physical and psychological risks due to exposure to infection. Consequently. the hypothesis was rejected that the satisfaction degree about physical environments would be lower in isolated ward nurses than in general ward nurses. 5. The fact that $87.7%$ of isolated ward nurses took interest in service education and $53.19\%$ of general ward nurses took interest in service education demonstrats that isolated ward nurse have more interest in service education than gerneral ward nurses. The result shows that the hypothesis is accepted that isolated ward nurses would have mor interests in service education than general ward nurses. 6. In the extent of satisfaction about physical environments such as morale human relationship promotion, there is no significant difference between two groups in terms of statistics. The hypothesis is rejected that satisfaction about psychologic environments would be high in isolated ward nurses than in general ward nurses. In conclusion. factors influencing on job satisfaction are considered to have effect on. another, and also interdisciplinary amelioration of factors accompanied with systematic inter cooperative investigation is necessary.

  • The purpose of the study was to investigate the differences in attitudes toward emergent literacy between mothers and fathers in relation to two types of early educational centers and to explore relationships between the parents' attitudes toward literacy and their home literacy environment. The subjects were 1626 parents (813 mothers, 813 fathers), who had three to five years old children, from 14 kindergartens and 11 daycare centers in Seoul. The questionnaire based on Kwon's instrument of emergent literacy altitude (1999) was used. The data were analyzed by two-way ANOVAS, and correlation. The results were as follows : First, there were significant differences in attitudes toward literacy between the mothers and the fathers in relation to their children's ages. The parents of three-year-old children had more positive altitudes toward literacy than ones of five-year-old. The mothers had more positive altitudes toward literacy than the fathers, excepts in reading instructions and writing development. Second, the fathers with daughters had more positive attitudes toward literacy than ones with sons. Third, the kindergarten parents had more positive attitudes toward literacy than daycare parents. Fourth, there were significantly positive correlations between the parents' attitudes toward emergent literacy for young children and their home literacy environments.
