Background: Underground mines have several hazards that could lead to serious consequences if they come into effect. Acquiring, evaluating, and using the real-time data from the atmospheric monitoring system and miner's positional information is crucial in deciding the best course of action. Methods: A graphical user interface-based software is developed that uses an AutoCAD-based mine map, real-time atmospheric monitoring system, and miners' positional information to guide on the shortest route to mine exit and other locations within the mine, including the refuge chamber. Several algorithms are implemented to enhance the visualization of the program and guide the miners through the shortest routes. The information relayed by the sensors and communicated by other personnel are collected, evaluated, and used by the program in proposing the best course of action. Results: The program was evaluated using two case studies involving rescue relating to elevated carbon monoxide levels and increased temperature simulating fire scenarios. The program proposed the shortest path from the miner's current location to the exit of the mine, nearest refuge chamber, and the phone location. The real-time sensor information relayed by all the sensors was collected in a comma-separated value file. Conclusion: This program presents an important tool that aggregates information relayed by sensors to propose the best rescue strategy. The visualization capability of the program allows the operator to observe all the information on a screen and monitor the rescue in real time. This program permits the incorporation of additional sensors and algorithms to further customize the tool.
Uncertainty is one of the key issues of the water quality management. Uncertainty occurs in the course of all water quality management stages including monitoring, modeling, and regulation enforcement. To reduce uncertainties of water quality monitoring, manualized monitoring methodology should be developed and implemented. In addition, long-term monitoring is essential for acquiring reliable water quality data which enables best water quality management. For the water quality management in the watershed scale, fate of pollutant including its generation, transport and impact should be considered while regarding each stage of water quality management as an unit process. Uncertainties of each stage of water quality management should be treated properly to prevent error propagation transferred to the next stage of management for successful achievement of water quality conservation.

In competitive society, performance management is an essential element of business success. Despite the importance of performance management, it has not been widely implemented in construction companies. In the recent years, construction companies have become more aware of its need to identify, implement, and sustain performance improvements more systematically. Thus, the objective of this paper is to develop performance management system (PMS) for construction companies. The roles of performance management system is not only measuring performance but also offering guidance to improve performance. Therefore, PMS needs benchmarking process that provides Best Practice and new knowledge. This paper investigates the case of PMSs in UK, USA, Brazil, and Chile and discusses the lessons learned. To overcome the limitations of existing PMSs, new performance measurement framework, in form of 'Construction' BSC, is proposed. Based on the 'Construction' BSC, key performance indicators are derived and methodology of performance management is suggested. This paper concludes by developing PMS for benchmarking in construction companies and recommending some further directions on this research topic.
Vehicle emissions from highway landuse include different pollutants such as heavy metals, oil and grease and particulates from fuels, brake pad wear and tire wear. Since highways are impervious and have high pollutant mass emissions from vehicular activity, it is considered as stormwater intensive landuses. Therefore this research was performed to understand the magnitude of first flush and to suggest the criteria of first flush for storm runoff management in highways. The fractions of washed-off mass are very high in first 30% of runoff volume, which suggests a definition of first flush. The washed-off mass stabilizes after 30% of the runoff volume and it is apparent that treatment capacity in the early part of a storm is more valuable than treatment capacity in the later part of the storm. Using the criteria of "high" first flush and "medium" first flush, as 50% of the mass in the first 30% of the volume, and 30 to 50% in the first 30% volume, respectively, more than 30% of the storms showed high first flush. A "first flush friendly" best management practice(BMP), meaning a BMP that can treat a high percentage or all of the initial flow, would be advantageous up to 80% of the events.
Nowadays, lots of software that have similar functions is being produced. Hence it is getting more important to select the best and suitable software for each individual or company. Moreover, there are few trustworthy materials regarding to the objective procedure and criteria for the best evaluation of the software quality. To overcome these problems, benchmarking has been carried out. However, benchmarking is also confronting the limit of quality evaluation verification due to the difficult of the objectification of the major test items. To solve these problems, some others try to evaluate the quality of software using objective criteria of evaluation based on ISO/IEC standards. Nevertheless, this method using these defined evaluation items and criteria may result in not very reliable outcome. Therefore, this paper offers the evaluation items reflected in the characteristics of each software in order to prove the validity of the proposed method. Moreover, the objective and quantitative criterion which analyzes and reflects the organization characteristics using AHP methodology is applied to the experiment and performance evaluation. Hence we expect that the proposed method provides the needs of the re-establishment of software quality evaluation criteria and the improvement of process in terms of management.

This empirical research aims to modeling and improving the forecasting accuracy of the volatility pattern by employing the Saudi Arabia stock market (Tadawul)by studying daily closed price index data from October 2011 to December 2019 with a number of observations being 2048. In order to achieve significant results, this study employs many mathematical functions which are non-linear spectral model Maximum overlapping Discrete Wavelet Transform (MODWT) based on the best localized function (Bl14), autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA) model and generalized autoregressive conditional heteroskedasticity (GARCH) models. Therefore, the major findings of this study show that all the previous events during the mentioned period of time will be explained and a new forecasting model will be suggested by combining the best MODWT function (Bl14 function) and the fitted GARCH model. Therefore, the results show that the ability of MODWT in decomposition the stock market data, highlighting the significant events which have the most highly volatile data and improving the forecasting accuracy will be showed based on some mathematical criteria such as Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE), Mean Absolute Scaled Error (MASE), Root Means Squared Error (RMSE), Akaike information criterion. These results will be implemented using MATLAB software and R- software.
This study was to investigate the quality characteristics of white pan bread with added Nurungji, scorched rice. Nurungji powder at the level of 5% (N5), 10% (N10), 15% (N15), 20% (N20) was mixed with flour to make the bread. The overall effects of nurungji powder in pan bread were examined by investigating fermentation rates, volume change, farinograph and TPA analysis, color and preference evaluation. A control showed the highest fermentation rate by 60 min, but there was no significant difference between all samples. Farinograph analysis showed that the water absorption rate was the lowest in control and increased with the addition of nurungji powder. In contrast, in dough development time, control was the shortest and the N20 was the longest. Dough stability showed the best with control, N20 showed the lowest value, and Dough weakness increased significantly as the amount of rice powder was increased. According to TPA analysis it had shown significant differences in hardness and chewiness in the bread with Nurungi. Volume and specific volume tended to decrease as the amount of rice powder added increased. Sensory evaluation showed that the texture of bread had the highest with control, and the overall preference such as color, taste, and flavor showed the best with N15.
Software-defined networking (SDN) acts as a centralized management unit, especially in a network with devices that operate under the transport layer of the OSI model. However, when a network with layer 7 middleboxes (MBs) is considered, current SDNs exhibit limitations. As such, to achieve a real-centralized management unit, a new architecture is required that decouples the data and control planes of all network devices. In this report, we propose such a complementary architecture to the current SDN in which SDN-enabled MBs are included along with contemporary SDN-enabled switches. The management unit of this architecture improves network performance and reduces routing cost by considering the status of the MBs during flow forwarding. This unit consists of the following two parts: an SDN controller (SDNC) and a middlebox controller (MBC). The latter selects the best MBs for each flow and the former determines the best path according to its routing algorithm and provides information via the MBC. The results show that the proposed architecture improved performance because the utilization of all network devices including MBs is manageable.
The objective of this study is to investigate whether the daily rainfall depth derived from daily data represents the event rainfall depth derived from hourly data. For analysis, the 85th, 90th, and 95th percentile daily rainfall depths were first computed using daily rainfall data (1986~2015) collected at 63 weather stations. In addition, the storm event was separated by the interevent time definition (IETD) of 6, 12, 18, and 24 hr using hourly rainfall data. Based on the separated storm events, the 85th, 90th, and 95th percentile event rainfall depths were calculated and compared with the using hourly rainfall data with the 85th, 90th, and 95th percentile daily rainfall depths. The event rainfall depths computed using the IETD were greater than the daily rainfall depths. The difference between the event rainfall depth and the daily rainfall depth affects the design and size of the facility for controlling the stormwater. Therefore, the designer and policy decision-maker in designing the stormwater best management practices need to take into account the difference generated by the difference of the used rainfall data and the selected IETD.
