위성 배터리 충전을 위한 전력제어유닛의 알고리즘 설계 (Design on Algorithm of Power Control Unit for Charging Satellite Battery)

  • 식 구간에서 인공위성이 필요로 하는 모든 전력을 공급하는 배터리의 수명은 인공위성의 수명과 직결된다. 배터리의 수명은 배터리 충전 방식에 의해 영향을 받으므로, 배터리 충전을 제어하는 전력제어유닛은 배터리 수명을 고려하여 설계되어야 한다. 배터리 충전은 낮 구간에서 태양전지로부터 생성된 전력을 전력제어유닛의 충전 전류 제어를 통해 이루어진다. 계절마다 다른 식 구간의 빈도를 고려하고 배터리 과충전 방지를 위하여 배터리 충전관련 변수들은 계절에 따라 각각 다르게 설계되어야 한다. 또한 충전 시 과전류 충전과 과전압 충전을 방지하기 위해 배터리 충/방전 상태, 충전전류 양, 배터리 전압, 배터리 용량, 배터리 온도, 배터리 셀 전압 등을 모니터링 하여 충전 전류를 제어한다. 인공위성에서는 각 조건을 반영하여 충전 전류를 제어하는 tapering 방식을 사용한다. 본 논문에서는 tapering 충전 방식을 적용한 인공위성 전력제어유닛의 배터리 충전 알고리즘을 설계한다. 설계된 알고리즘을 위성에 업로드 할 수 있는 코드로 변환하고 구축된 위성환경에서의 시험을 통해 동작을 검증한다.

  • This paper presents battery charging method using 3-phase AC-DC boost converter. General battery charging method is that charging the battery voltage to the reference voltage according to the constant current(CC) control, when it reaches the reference voltage, charging the battery fully according to the constant voltage(CV) control. However, battery chaging time is increased because of the battery impedance, constant current charging section which shoud take the large amount of charge is narrow, and constant voltage charging section which can generate insufficient charge is widen. To improve this problem, we proposes the method to reduce the charging time according to the SOC(State of Charge) estimation using battery impedance.

배터리 충, 방전 및 영전압 제어를 위한 양방향 컨버터 설계 (Design of a Bidirectional Converter for Battery Charging, Discharging and Zero-voltage Control)

  • This study proposes a converter that makes battery charging, discharging, and zero voltage control possible. The proposed topology consists of an LLC converter and a half-bridge inverter, and all power semiconductor devices are applied Si-MOSFETs. The topology is designed with an LLC switching frequency of 100 kHz, a half-bridge inverter switching frequency of 50 kHz, and a battery voltage of 5 V. The advantages of the charging/discharging operation of the 5 V battery voltage and the zero voltage control of the battery are verified. In addition, by using a two-stage topology, the battery can be charged, discharged through current control, and discharged to zero voltage. With the proposed topology, the current can be maintained even when the battery voltage drops to zero.

  • A new contactless Li-ion battery charging system was proposed. The conventional methods for charging Li-ion battery have some weak points. For example, there can be a contact failure, a poor waterproof, and a difficulty to standardize the battery charging systems. The new proposed system can overcome these weak points. The new charging system is composed of power transfer part and data transfer part. This paper focuses on the power transfer part for contactless battery charging. The power stage is mainly composed of PPRC(Push-pull Parallel Resonant Converter) and flyback converter. The new method of chaging Li-ion battery was proposed and PPRC + flyback-boost topology was analyzed. The proposed toplogy was tested under the constant voltage control and the constant current control which are adequate for charging Li-ion battery.

  • It is difficult to analyze the charging characteristics of the lead-acid battery, because of the influences by various non-linear and time-variant parameters. In this study, the charging characteristics of high capacity industrial lead-acid battery 630 Ah was investigated through experiments with respect to the variations of temperature and the aged state of battery during the charging process. The database of those characteristics is established from the results of experiments, and the fuzzy logic charging algorithm is suggested using them. The results of experiment shows that the industrial lead-acid batteries can be always fully charged within the saved charging time by the proposed charging control algorithm adapting to the variations of charging condition. This new charging concept will be useful for developing the advanced battery charger improving the efficiency of storing electricity.

  • In this paper, the proposed charging algorithm is converted from the charging mode to compensate the transient state in the solar battery charging system. The maximum power point tracking (MPPT) control methods and the various charging algorithms for the optimal battery charging are reviewed. The proposed algorithm has excellent transient characteristics compare to the previous algorithm by adding the optimal control method to compensate the transient state when the charging mode switches from the constant current mode to the constant voltage mode based on the conventional constant-current constant-voltage (CC-CV) charging algorithm. The effectiveness of the proposed method has been verified by simulations and experimental results.

  • Electric vehicles (EV) are emerging as the future transportation vehicle reflecting their potential safe environmental advantages. Vehicle to Grid (V2G) system describes the hybrid system in which the EV can communicate with the utility grid and the energy flows with insignificant effect between the utility grid and the EV. The paper presents an optimal power control and energy management strategy for Plug-In Electric Vehicle (PEV) charging stations using Wind-PV-FC-Battery renewable energy sources. The energy management optimization is structured and solved using Multi-Objective Particle Swarm Optimization (MOPSO) to determine and distribute at each time step the charging power among all accessible vehicles. The Model-Based Predictive (MPC) control strategy is used to plan PEV charging energy to increase the utilization of the wind, the FC and solar energy, decrease power taken from the power grid, and fulfil the charging power requirement of all vehicles. Desired features for EV battery chargers such as the near unity power factor with negligible harmonics for the ac source, well-regulated charging current for the battery, maximum output power, high efficiency, and high reliability are fully confirmed by the proposed solution.

과풍속 영역에서의 약계자 제어를 이용한 풍력발전용 3상 PWM 컨버터의 출력제어 (Power Control of Three Phase PWM Converter for Small-scale Wind Power using Flux Weakening Control in Over Wind Speed Region)

  • This paper proposes the battery charging algorithm for small-scale wind power generator using three phase PWM converter. it is impossible to control output power of the converter in over wind speed region since back EMF of PMSG is higer than battery voltage. Therefore, battery charging algorithm is proposed to expand battery charging over wind speed region. The suggested method is using the q-axis current for battery charging in the rated wind speed region. In the over wind speed region after it lower back EMF of PMSG using d-axis current it can control output power of the converter. The validity of the proposed algorithm are verified by experiments.

  • In this paper, battery charging and discharging circuit with a single voltage power supply is proposed. The proposed circuit has the separated current path and charging-monitoring sequence control scheme. In the charging sequence, the proposed 2-level comparator combined with control signal of the micro-processor can control the constant charging current to protect the over current of the battery. Furthermore, the proposed circuit uses a periodic main power switch control to detect the discharging characteristics to estimate the approximated battery life-time. In the experiments, the proposed emergency power supply for emergency call system has 89% efficiency with 98% power factor. And the proposed sequence control scheme is well operated in the designed emergency power system.

  • In this paper, a battery charging system for Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) and Electric Vehicle (EV), and operation algorithm of charging system are introduced. Also, the proposed charging system uses commercial electricity in order to charge the battery of parked PHEV and 48V battery charging system with power factor controllable single phase converter for PHEV is investigated in this paper. This research verifies the power factor control of input and the converter output controlled by the charge control algorithm through simulation and experiment.
