CoMSIA 3D-QSAR Analysis of 3,4-Dihydroquinazoline Derivatives Against Human Colon Cancer HT-29 Cells

  • A series of 3,4-dihydroquinazoline derivatives with anti-cancer activities against human colon cancer HT-29 cell were subjected to three-dimensional quantitative structure-activity relationship (3D-QSAR) studies using the comparative molecular similarity indices analysis (CoMSIA) approaches. The most potent compound, BK10001 was used to align the molecules. As a result, the best prediction was obtained with CoMSIA combined electrostatic, hydrophobic, and hydrogen-bond acceptor fields ($q^2=0.648$, $r^2=0.882$). This model was validated by an external test set of six compounds giving satisfactory predictive $r^2$ values of 0.879. This model would guide the design of potent 3,4-dihydroquinazoline derivatives as anti-cancer agent for the treatment of human colon cancer.

  • Silicone rubber-based sodium-selective membranes are developed for solid-state ion sensors. It was shown that the potetiometric performance of SR-based membranes are greatly dependent on the type of neutral carriers employed; among the three ionophores, N,N,N',N'-tetracyclohexyl-1,2-phenylenedioxydiacetamide (ETH 2120), bis[(12-crown-4)methyl]dodecylmethylmalonate (D12C4DMM) and monensin methyl ester (MME), examined, only ETH 2120 was compatible with the SR-based matrix. Addition of about 20 wt% plasticizer to the SR-based matrix provided the resulting membranes with potentiometric properties essentially equivalent to those of the corresponding PVC-based membranes. Owing to the strong adhesive strength of SR-based membranes, the CWEs coated \vith those membranes exhibited long lifetime with conventional electrode-like performance. Blending of PU into the SR matrix increased the lifetime of CWEs from two weeks to one month.

Formation of fine pitch solder bump with high uniformity by the tilted electrode ring (경사진 전극링을 이용한 고균일도의 미세 솔더범프 형성)

  • The bubble flow from the wafer surface during plating process was studied in this paper. The plating shape in the opening of photoresist becomes gradated shape in the fountain plating system, because bubbles from the wafer surface are difficult to escape from the deep openings, vias. So, we designed the tilted electrode ring contact to get uniform bump height on all over the wafer and evaluated the film uniformity by SEM and ${\alpha}-step$. In ${\alpha}-step$ measurement, film uniformities in the fountain plating system and the tilted electrode ring contact system were ${\pm}16.6%,\;{\pm}4%$ respectively.

  • Characterization of the various chemical aspects of composite polymers is important for quality control of manufactured polymers. In this study, we compared three suitable matrices (α cyano-4-hydroxycinnamic acid [CHCA], 2,5 dihydroxy benzoic acid [2,5-DHB], and dithranol), to characterize various synthetic polymers by matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry. Although the spectra obtained with the CHCA and 2,5-DHB matrices were generally good, in certain samples ghost peaks disappeared only when dithranol was used as the matrix. Furthermore, we examined the use of sodium trifluoroacetate (NaTFA) as an additive to reduce interference by metals and copolymers in the spectra. In conclusion, appropriate selection of a matrix, according to the characteristics of the polymer, and the use of additives to improve sensitivity are important considerations for polymer analysis and development.

  • 본 연구는 이미지 필터링 효과를 적용한 이미지들을 3D tomogram으로 만들었을 때 어느 정도의 효과적인 복원이 가능하고 또 어떤 해상도의 필터를 사용했을 때 더 나은 결과를 얻어 낼 수 있는 지 확인하기 위해 진행하였다. 전자현미경으로 2D tilted image들을 찍는 과정에는 고전압의 사용으로 인한 다소의 오류들이 발생한다. 따라서 이러한 오류를 상쇄시키고 3D tomogram의 질적 향상을 위하여 Gaussian low-pass filtering을 사용하였다. 또한 Gaussian low-pass filtering 내에서도 어떤 해상도 값의 필터링을 사용해야 더 나은 결과를 얻을 수 있는 지 확인하였다.

Genomic Analysis of the Extremely Halophilic Archaeon Halobacterium noricense CBA1132 Isolated from Solar Salt That Is an Essential Material for Fermented Foods

  • The extremely halophilic archaeon Halobacterium noricense is a member of the genus Halobacterium. Strain CBA1132 (= KCCM 43183, JCM 31150) was isolated from solar salt. The genome of strain CBA1132 assembled with 4 contigs, including three rRNA genes, 44 tRNA genes, and 3,208 open reading frames. Strain CBA1132 had nine putative CRISPRs and the genome contained genes encoding metal resistance determinants: copper-translocating P-type ATPase (CtpA), arsenical pump-driving ATPase (ArsA), arsenate reductase (ArsC), and arsenical resistance operon repressor (ArsR). Strain CBA1132 was related to Halobacterium noricense, with 99.2% 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity. Based on the comparative genomic analysis, strain CBA1132 has distinctly evolved; moreover, essential genes related to nitrogen metabolism were only detected in the genome of strain CBA1132 among the reported genomes in the genus Halobacterium. This genome sequence of Halobacterium noricense CBA1132 may be of use in future molecular biological studies.
