  • lnorganic polymers, which are composed of metal (Ⅱ) ions and Schiff's Base of quinizarin-ethylenediamine, have been prepared. In order to find out proper conditions for the reaction, some investigations have been carried out to test the effect of pH, kind of solvent and the state of reagent. As a result, the highest yield occurred near pH 7 and it was found that there were not great difference in the kind of solvent and the state of reagent we had used. Most of the polymers are seemed not to be those we have attempted to prepare. They are found to be coordination polymers which have rather low molecular weight.

EFFECT OF SURFACE TREATMENTS ON THE BOND STRENGTH OF DENTURE BASE RESINS TO DENTAL ALLOY (표면 처리법에 따른 치과용 합금과 열중합형 레진 간의 결합 강도에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to compare tensile bond strength between Cr-Co alloy and three denture base resins after surface treatment. Following the manufacturer's instructions, 180 bonded specimens were made from three denture base resins (Lucitone 199. Paladent 20. POSS resin) and three surface treatment methods (sandblasting. metal primer. silicoating) 20 samples were made in each group and a half was ther-mocycled 1000 times between $5^{\circ}C$ and $55^{\circ}C$. The tensile bond strength was measured using an Instron with 5mm/min crosshead speed. Data was analyzed with one-way ANOVA, T-test and Duncan test. The results were as follows : 1. Samples with metal primer coating had significantly high tensile bond strength than the other surface treated groups (p<.05). Significantly low tensile bond strength was shown in sand blasted groups (p<.05). 2. No significant difference was observed in metal primer coating groups before and after ther-mocycling (p>.05) 3. Tensile bond strength was decreased in silicoated samples after thermocycling (p<.05). 4. Of the surface treated groups with metal primer, Lucitone 199 had the greatest bond strength and POSS resin and Paladent 20 were followed (p<.05). 5. Of the surface treated groups with silicoating, POSS resin and Lucitone 199 had greater bond strength than Paladent 20 (p<.05).

Friction Welding and AE Characteristics of Magnesium Alloy for Lightweight Ocean Vehicle (해양차량 경량화용 마그네슘합금의 마찰용접 및 AE 특성)

  • In this paper, friction welded joints were constructed to investigate the mechanical properties of welded 15-mm diameter solid bars of Mg alloy (AZ31B). The main friction welding parameters were selected to endure reliable quality welds on the basis of visual examination, tensile tests, impact energy test, Vickers hardness surveys of the bonds in the area and heat affected zone (HAZ), and macrostructure investigations. The study reached the following conclusions. The tensile strength of the friction welded materials (271 MPa) was increased to about 100% of the AZ31B base metal (274 MPa) under the condition of a heating time of 1 s. The metal loss increased lineally with an increase in the heating time. The following optimal friction welding conditions were determined: rotating speed (n) = 2000 rpm, heating pressure (HP) = 35 MPa, upsetting pressure (UP) = 70 MPa, heating time (HT) = 1 s, and upsetting time (UT) = 5 s, for a metal loss (Mo) of 10.2 mm. The hardness distribution of the base metal (BM) showed HV55. All of the BM parts showed levels of hardness that were approximately similar to friction welded materials. The weld interface of the friction welded parts was strongly mixed, which showed a well-combined structure of macro-particles without particle growth or any defects. In addition, an acoustic emission (AE) technique was applied to derive the optimum condition for friction welding the Mg alloy nondestructively. The AE count and energy parameters were useful for evaluating the relationship between the tensile strength and AE parameters based on the friction welding conditions.

Mechanical Properties Evaluation of Gas Tungsten Arc Welding for INCONEL 718 alloy apply to Cryogenic Condition (극저온 환경에 적용되는 INCONEL 718합금의 Gas Tungsten Arc Welding 기계적 특성 평가)

  • Inconel 718 alloy has excellent mechanical properties at room temperature, high temperature and cryogenic conditions. UTS of base metal is about 900MPa at room temperature; this is increased up to 1300MPa after heat treatment & aging-hardening. Mechanical properties of Inconel 718 Alloy were similar to those shown in the the results for tensile test; mechanical properties of Inconel 718 alloy's GTAW were similar to those of base metal's properties at room temperature. Mechanical properties at cryogenic conditions were better than those at room temperature. Heat-treated Inconel 718, non- filler metal GTAW on Inconel 718 and GTAW used filler metal on Inconel 718's UTS was 1400MPa at cryogenic condition. As a result, the excellent mechanical properties of Inconel 718 alloy under cryogenic conditions was proved through tensile tests under cryogenic conditions. In addition, weldability of Inconel 718 alloy under cryogenic conditions was superior to that of its base-metal. In this case, UTS of hybrid joint (IS-G) at -100$^{\circ}C$ was 900MPa. Consequently, UTS of Inconel 718 alloy is estimated to increase from -100$^{\circ}C$ to a specific temperature below -100$^{\circ}C$. Therefore, Inconel 718 alloy is considered a pertinent material for the production of Lox Pipe under cryogenic conditions.

  • The effect of fluid flow on corrosion and erosion-corrosion of metal is a well-recognized phenomenon in pipelines and machinery equipment, and so on. Not only are fluid hydrodynamics important, but also the corrosiveness of the process or production stream affects the corrosion system. Recent research demonstrates that it is possible to erosion-corrosion(E/C) phenomena in terms of hydrodynamics, electrochemical corrosion kinetics and film growth/removal phenomena. Stress corrosion cracking behavior under cavitation erosion-corrosion of mild steel(SS41) was investigated of base metal and weldment under loaded stress. Main result obtained are as follows : 1) The cavitation erosion sensitivity of base metal affected weight loss is more susceptive than heat affected zone, 2) The corrosion sensitivity affected weight loss of welding heat cycle is less susceptive on stress corrosion under cavitation erosion-corrosion than stress corrosion.

  • We compared the fatigue characteristics of weld metal with those of base metal, and not heat-treated with heat-treated. Also, we examined the influence of bead in a viewpoint of fatigue life. From the experimental results, it has been seen that the fatigue characteristics of welded specimens grinded the toe of bead are slightly better than not grinded. We have seen that the fatigue life is affected more by the stress concentration on the profile change in the weld toe rather than by residual stress influence, because heat-treated or not had almost no influence on the fatigue characteristics.

  • In order to investigate characteristics of surface fatigue crack propagation from a pit shaped surface defect which frequently exists near weld joints, SS400 steel with thickness of 12mm, which generally used for structure members, was submerged-arc welded with butt type and machined for both surface. The weld joints were devided into 5 regions, weld metal, boundary between heat affected zone (HAZ), HAZ, boundary between HAZ and base metal, and base metal. Specimens from each region were machined for a pit shaped initial surface defect with aspect ratio of 2. characteristics of surface fatigue crack por pagation from the defect under the same loading condition were compared and discussed.

  • The purpose of this investigation was to evaluate scanning electron micrographs of repeatedly cast base metal alloy. For this study two Ni-Cr-Be alloys were used; Rexillium III and Verabond. They were repeatedly cast without addition o new alloy melting with an electric resistant furnace (Castron 8, Yoshida dental equipment Mfg.Co.). They were etched with 10% H₂SO₄ Sol. at 300mA/㎠ for 3 minutes with the use of metal etching unit Oxyetch (OXY dental product Inc.), and ultrasonic cleaning in 18% HC1 Sol. was done. Etched surfaces were examined under a SEM at x 200 and x 750. The surfaces are shown in legends.

Effect of Bonding Condition on High Temperature Mechanical Properties of TLP Bonded Joints of FE-35Ni-26Cr Alloy (Fe-35Ni-26Cr 주강 액상확산접합부의 고온기계적 특성에 미치는 접합조건의 영향)

  • This study investigated the effects of bonding temperature and bonding atmosphere on high temperature mechanical properties of transient liquid phase(TLP) bonded joints of heat resistant alloy using MBF-50 insert metal. Specimens were bonded at 1,423~1,468K for 600s. Microconstituents of {TEX}$Cr_{7}(C,B)_{3}${/TEX}were formed in the bonded region when the bonding temperature was low. The amount of microcostituents in the bonded layer decreased with increasing the bonding temperature, and the microconstituents in the bonded layer disappeared at the bonding temperature above 1,468K. The tensile strength of the joints at elevated temperatures increased with the increase the bonding temperature and was the same level as one of the base metal in the bonding temperature over 1,453K. Microstructure and alloying element distributions of the bonded region bonded in Ar and $N_2$atmosphere were similar to those of the bonded in vacuum. The creep rupture strength and rupture lives of joints were almost identical to those of base metal.

오스테나이트계 스테인레스강의 육성 용접부에서 고온균열 감수성에 미치는 용접입열의 영향

  • The effect of heat input on the content of residual .delta.-ferrite and the hot cracking susceptibility in the austenitic stainless steel overlaid on the carbon steel was studied in the range of heat input from 7.5 to 15.1 KJ/cm. Present study shows that residual .delta.-ferrite content in the overlay is mainly determined by the dilution of the base metal (carbon steel) which is in turn affected by heat input, i.e. the amount of dilution decreases as heat input increase. Accordingly, higher heat input results in a substantial increase in Cr equivalent but a little increase in Ni equivalent due to the less dilution of carbon from base metal. This fact can explain the result obtained in this study, i, e, the higher content of .delta.-ferrite in the weld deposit made with higher heat input. This in turn causes more resistant overlaying weld metal to hot cracking.
