플라즈마 활성화 표면처리 공정과 나노클레이 분산 적층 코팅을 이용한 표면 기능성 코팅 박막 개발: 수분 및 산소 차단성이 우수한 투명 포장재 (Development of surface functional coating thin film utilizing combined processes of plasma activation surface treatment and nanoclay dispersion: In applications for transparent water vapor and oxygen barrier packaging films)

  • 수분 차단성이 우수한 투명 포장재용 배리어성 필름을 개발하기 위하여, 상온 진공하에서 플라즈마 활성화 표면처리 공정의 전처리 공정을 거친 후에, 나노클레이 분산 적층 코팅층을 형성한다. 접착력 향상을 위한 코팅 공정의 적절한 가교공정과 최적분산공정을 통한 커플링 첨가제를 최적화하는 데 중점을 두었다. 기능성 코팅 박막에 대하여 분석한 결과는 수분 투과도 10 g/m2/24 hrs(ASTM F-1249) 이하, 산소 투과도 30 cc/m2/24 hrs(ASTM D3985) 이하임을 보여주었다. 이는 종래의 무처리 필름의 10배 이상 수분 차단성이 우수한 투명 포장용 표면기능성 코팅박막에 해당됨을 보였다. 아울러, 투명가스 차단 필름의 두께는 0.1 mm 이내이며, 투명가스차단 복합층은 2개의 층으로 구성되었다. PET 박막 계면 특성연구에서, FT-IR의 실험분석에 의하면 R DS 1.125 %에서 반응 활성도가 최적화임을 나타내고 있다.

  • Recently, organic-inorganic nanocomposites have attracted great interest from researchers since they frequently exhibit unexpected hybrid properties synergistically derived from two components[1]. The addition of highly dispersed inorganic nano-sized fillers permits improvement of certain properties of polymers as compared with conventional particulate composites; increase of modulus and strength, improved barrier properties, increase in solvent and heat resistance, and good optical properties[2].   • We report the spectroscopic properties of column-III nitrifies of GaN, GaInN, and AlGaN. The column-III nitride semiconductors are promising materials to realize the current-injection-type blue-and ultraviolet (UV)-light-emitting devices with high performance. To acheive the lasing with low threshold, the devices are must constructed to double heterostructure by succesive epitaxial growth technique, and we must confine the carriers in the potential barrier and optical confinement in wave guide between barrier and active layers has different refractive index. The refractive index of column-III nitride semiconductors, however, are rarely reported. The measured refractive index was 2.9, and the observed characteristic peak near the enrgy gap was analysed using a dielectric function and may due to excitonic contribution.

A Study on the Leakage Current Voltage of Hybrid Type Thin Films Using a Dilute OTS Solution

  • To improve the performance of organic thin film transistor, we investigated the properties of gate insulator's surface according to the leakage current by I-V measurement. The surface was treated by the dilute n-octadecyltrichlorosilane solution. The alkyl group of n-octadecyltrichlorosilane induced the electron tunneling and the electron tunneling current caused the breakdown at high electric field, consequently shifting the breakdown voltage. The 0.5% sample with an electron-rich group was found to have a large leakage current and a low barrier height because of the effect of an energy barrier lowered by, thermionic current, which is called the Schottky contact. The surface properties of the insulator were analyzed by I-V measurement using the effect of Poole-Frankel emission.

  • Perfluoropropene was plasma polymerized in the form of thin film on PET fabrics to give hydrophobic and barrier properties without affecting air permeability. Changes in surface characteristics were detected by application of ESCA, IR, SEM and contact anglemeter. The surface properties was changed markedly to be water and stain repellent although the effect was not much sensitive to the differences of chemical components of the thin films formed at different experimental conditions. The protective barrier characteristics of the thin film was also applicable to suppress the amounts of dyes extracted from fabrics in laundering.

Varification of Phase Defect Correctability of Nano-structured Multilayer for EUV Reflection

  • Ru interfacial layer was inserted into Mo-on-Si interface to enhance the extreme ultra-violet (EUV) reflective multilayer properties. The stacking status and optical properties are analyzed using cross-sectional transmission electron microscope (TEM), and reflectometer. About 1.5% of maximum reflectivity can be acquired as predicted in optical simulation, which is thought to be originated from the diffusion inhibition property. Phase defect correctability of the multilayer can be enhanced by the insertion of Ru barrier layer.

Crystallinity of $Pb(Nb_{0.04}Zr_{0.28}Ti_{0.68})O_{3}$ capacitors on ferroelectric properties

  • Polycrystalline and epitaxial heterostructure films of $La_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}CoO_{3}/Pb(Nb_{0.04}Zr_{0.28}Ti_{0.68})O_{3}/La_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}CoO_{3}$ (LSCO/PNZT/LSCO) capacitors were evaluated in terms of low voltage and high speed operation in high density memory, using TiN/Pt conducting barrier combination. Structural studies for a high density ferroelectric memory process flow, which requires the integration of conducting barrier layers to connect the drain of the pass-gate transistor to the bottom electrode of the ferroelectric stack, indicate complete phase purity (i.e. fully perovskite) in both epitaxial and polycrystalline materials. The polycrystalline capacitors show lower remnant polarization and coercive voltages. However, the retention, and high-speed characteristics are similar, indicating minimal influence of crystalline quality on the ferroelectric properties.

  • We fabricated Au/PI/Pb and Au/PI/1-layer Arachidic acid/Pb structures in order to electron transport properties through the junctions. It was found that 9-layer PI LB films function as a good tunneling barrier from the I-V properties. And several peaks originating in the vibrational modes of the constituent molecules of 1-layer arachidicacid LB films were clearly observed in $d^2V/dI^2-V$ curves.

Laser Ultrasonic Inspection of Environmental Barrier Coatings

  • The mechanical properties of mullite $(3Al_2O_3\;2SiO_2)$ environmental barrier coatings are determined using a laser-based ultrasonic system. The waveforms generated by a laser source in mullite coatings in the $1-20{\mu}m$ thickness range are evaluated theoretically using the integral transform technique. It is shown that the laser source generated the two lowest order SAW modes in these systems. Experimental waveforms are generated using a 600ps pulsed Nd:YAG microchip laser and detected using a stabilized Michelson interferometer. The dispersion curves for the generated modes are extracted from the experimental data and the mechanical properties of the coatings are obtained by minimizing the error between the measured and calculated velocity values. The waveforms generated in mullite coatings agree well with theory and laser-based ultrasonics is shown to provide an effective tool for the nondestructive evaluation of ceramic coatings.

Fluorescence Properties and Photoisomerization Behavior of 1-(9-Anthryl)-2-(2-quinolinyl)ethene

  • The fluorescence properties and photoisomerization behavior of 1-(9-anthryl)-2-(2-quinolinyl)ethene (2-AQE) have been investigated in various solvents. Instead of phenyl ring in 1-(9-anthryl)-2-phenylethene, the intro-duction of quinoline ring reduces not only the fluorescence yield but also the photoisomerization yield, due to competition of efficient radiationless deactivation and an increase in the torsional barrier for twisting in the singlet manifold. The S1 decay parameters were found to be solvent-dependent due to the charge-transfer character of lowest S1 state. Polar solvents reduce the activation barrier to twisting, thus slight enhancing the isomerization of t-2-AQE in the singlet manifold. As solvent polarity is increased, Φf of c-2-AQE is greatly reduced, but Φc →t is practically independent of solvent polarity. Dual fluorescence in t-2-AQE was observed and two fluorescing species could be assigned t-2-AQE and c-2-AQE, where the ratio between two species was dependent on the solvent polarity. Interestingly, in the concentration above 1×10 -4 M, the shapes of the fluorescence excitation spectra of t- and c-2-AQE are significantly altered without spectral changes of their fluorescence and absorption, probably due to the formation of excimer.
