The heat generation at the start-up period of an autogeneous single screw extruder was determined with various feed materials, die structure and operational conditions. The highest heat generation rate was observed with defatted soybean meal, while the lowest value was obtained with rice flour, and wheat and barley flour showed the intermediate rate. As the moisture content of the flour decreased and the screw speed increased, the electric power requirement and heat generation rate increased. The temperature at compression section increased with the decrease in the particle size. The same effect was also observed as breaker plate was installed. The optimum operation was established as the temperature profile was maintained in decreasing order of metering section, die and compression section.
To develop the high quality gluten-free rice products with health functionality and desirable texture with moistness, the physicochemical properties of extruded rice flours prepared from the mixture of germinated brown and white rices were investigated. The domestic organic Samgwangbyeo was used to make white and germinated brown rices. White rice (WR) was dried after soaked for 6 h at $15{\pm}3^{\circ}C$ and mixed with germinated brown rice (GBR) with different mixing ratios (100:0, 75:25, 50:50, 25:75, 0:100). The operating conditions of twin screw extruder were 250 rpm of screw speed, $120^{\circ}C$ of barrel temperature, and 25% moisture content of rice flour. The ash, crude protein and crude lipid contents were significantly different (p<0.05) and those of extruded GBR were the highest values, but those of extruded WR were the lowest. The color difference of extruded WR based on white plate showed the lowest among them. The water binding capacity (334.16%), swelling power (8.83 g/g), solubility (33.13%), and total starch (79.50%) were the lowest in extruded GBR. The viscosities of all extruded rice flours by RVA were maintained during heating. The peak and total setback viscosities of extruded rice flours ranged 127-352 and 58.0-85.5 cP, respectively. The novel food biomaterial from germinated brown rice as well as white rice was developed by twin screw extruder. The extruded rice flours control the moistness to improve the texture and also have functional materials, dietary fiber, GABA, and ferulic acid, etc to increase quality of gluten free rice products.

This study proposed an auto focusing method for a multi-focus image in assembling lens modules in digital camera phones. A camera module in a camera phone is composed of a lens barrel, an IR glass, a lens mount, a PCB board and aspheric lenses. Alignment among the components is one of the important factors in product quality. Auto-focus is essential to adjust image quality of an IR glass in a lens holder, but there are two focal points in the captured image due to thickness of IR glass. So, sharpness, probability and a scale factor are defined to find desired focus from a multi-focus image. The sharpness is defined as clarity of an image. Probability and a scale factors are calculated using pattern matching with a registered image. The presented algorithm was applied to a lens assembly machine which has 5 axes, two vacuum chucks and an inspection system. The desired focus can be determined on the local maximum of the sharpness, the probability and the scale factor in the experiment.

A supersonic rocket plum flowfield of kerosene/liquid-oxygen based propulsion system has been analysed using the Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations coupled with a 9-species 14-reaction finite-chemistry model. The result were compared with chemically frozen flow solution to investigate the effect of finite-rate chemistry on the plume flowfield. The computations were performed using a commercial CFD software, FLUENT 5. The finite-rate chemistry solution exhibited higher temperature caused by the reactions within the nozzle. All the chemical reactions within the plum were dominated only in the shear layer and behind the barrel shock reflection region where the temperatures are high and the effect of finite-rate chemical reactions on the flowfield was found to be insignificant. However, the present plume computation including the finite-rate chemical reaction within the plume has revealed major reactions occurring in the plum and their reaction mechanisms.

To find out the possible inefficiencies of artificial inseminators at rectovaginal insemination in cows, inseminators' skill were evaluated by controlling the semen thawing procedure adopted and by using the technique of dye deposition in the genital tract of slaughtered cows. This was followed by refreshment training for the inseminators. Thirty seven artificial insemination technicians regularly working in the government, cooperative and NGO (Non Government Organization) artificial insemination programmes at different places of Bangladesh were included in the study. Individual technicians were asked to thaw a semen straw and deposit dye in the genital tract of slaughtered cows following the procedures they would have adopted in their actual practices of insemination. The time and water temperature adopted by technicians were recorded and genital tract after sham artificial insemination was dissected to determine the site of dye deposition. Then, the inseminators took part in a three days intensive training program. The training program was ended up with the same tests for thawing frozen semen straw and dye deposition in the genital tract of slaughtered cows. At pre training evaluation, only $25\%\;and\;72\%\;(n=36)$ inseminators adopted co..ect thawing time and temperature, respectively. At post training evaluation, all inseminators thawed semen straws for proper time and temperature. At pretraining evaluation, $21(57\%),\;11 (30\%)\;and\;3(8\%)$ inseminators deposited dye at the body of uterus, in the vagina or in cervix, and into the horn of uterus, respectively. In $2(5\%)$ cases dye did not pass into the genital tract, instead back flowed through the space between the barrel of insemination gun and sheath. At post training evaluation, all inseminators successfully deposited dye in the body of uterus. Frequent evaluation of inseminators' skill and subsequent training would help improvement of the artificial insemination technicians' skill.
The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of processing parameters of co-rotating twin screw extruder and dry methods on the level of resistant starch (RS) and the properties of extrudate prepared from normal maize starch. The processing parameters were used 90, 110, 130$^{\circ}C$ in temperature, 25.0~30.0% in moisture content, 150, 200, 250 rpm in screw speed and hot and cool air drying and drying after refrigerating in drying methods. The barrel temperature and drying methods had affected the level of resistant starch of extrudate. RS levels of extrudates were ranged from 2.4 to 15.5% by AOAC method. The extrudates, extruded at 110$^{\circ}C$ and then stored at 4$^{\circ}C$, showed the highest level of RS level (15.5%). Water absorption index increased with increasing moisture content and peak temperatures and viscosities of extudates decreased compare to that of raw starch from 94$^{\circ}C$ to 50~65$^{\circ}C$ and from 220 to 46~98 RVU, respectively. Extudates treated in 90$^{\circ}C$ and 110$^{\circ}C$ showed strong peak at $2{\theta}=6.7{\sim}17.0^{\circ}$ by X-ray diffractometry and had ~150$^{\circ}C$ endotherm like as that of RS3 starch by differential scanning calorimetry. In case of 130$^{\circ}C$, extrudates showed strong peak at $2{\theta}=20.0^{\circ}$ and had 106$^{\circ}C$ endotherm.
In this research, I compared and analyzed the 'factors of style' that expresses and visualizes the 'characteristics of characters' and the characters from three movies each that was filmed with Kang Ho Song and Keong Ku Seol who acted in many movies both. As the result, for the factors for actors' makeup design, since they have limited choices of textures, colors, and the range of changes, changing the tone of skin to light to dark implied the images of characteristics. Somewhat dark skin tone that was like tanned skin expressed the life style of the character who works for an active profession not for an intellectual position. For the factors of hair style, medium sized wavy hair that goes straight down forehead expressed the character's familiar and informal personality while short cut sized all back style hair expressed confidence, sociality, and logical personality of the character. The actors' costume was important to express the characteristics of characters such as changes of their mind, especially the costumes delivered symbolic meanings of the role of their social class, profession, and their financial state. In addition, there were common factors to create and design a character in terms of the changes of the actors' body shape; when the actor acted the character who has conflicts inside and sarcastic personality, they lost weight on purpose while they gained weight and made a barrel shaped body to act the character who is positive in every occasion and does not realize the real world or who is greed.

The aim of this work is to simulate the thermohydraulic consequences of a main steam line break and to compare the obtained results with Rossendorf Coolant Mixing Model (ROCOM) 1.1 experimental results. The objective is to utilize data from steady-state mixing experiments and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) calculations to determine the flow distribution and the effect of thermal mixing phenomena in the primary loops for the improvement of normal operation conditions and structural integrity assessment of pressurized water reactors. The numerical model of ROCOM was developed using the FLUENT code. The positions of the inlet and outlet boundary conditions and the distribution of detailed velocity/turbulence parameters were determined by preliminary calculations. The temperature fields of transient calculation were averaged in time and compared with time-averaged experimental data. The perforated barrel under the core inlet homogenizes the flow, and therefore, a uniform temperature distribution is formed in the pressure vessel bottom. The calculated and measured values of lowest temperature were equal. The inlet temperature is an essential parameter for safety assessment. The calculation predicts precisely the experimental results at the core inlet central region. CFD results showed a good agreement (both qualitatively and quantitatively) with experimental results.
Polypropylene (PP)-layered silicate nanocomposites were developed using a new processing method involving a supercritical carbon dioxide ($scCO_2$)-assisted co-rotating twin-screw extrusion process. The nanocomposites were prepared through two step extrusion processes. In the first step, the PP/clay mixture was extruded with $CO_2$ injected into the barrel of the extruder and the resulting foamed extrudate was cooled and pelletized. In the second step, the foamed extrudate was extruded with venting to produce the final PP/clay nanocomposites without $CO_2$. In this study, organophilic-clay and polypropylene matrix were used. Maleic anhydride grafted polypropylene (PP-g-MA) was used as a compatibilizer. This study focused on the effect of $scCO_2$ on the dispersion characteristics of the clays into a PP matrix and the rheological properties of the layered silicate based PP nanocomposites. The dispersion properties of clays in the nanocomposites as well as the rheological properties of the nanocomposites were examined as a function of the PP-g-MA concentration. The degree of dispersion of the clays in the nanocomposites was analyzed by X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscope. Various rheological properties of the nanocomposites were measured using a rotational rheometer. In the experimental results, the $scCO_2$ assisted continuous manufacturing extrusion system was used to successfully produce the organophilic-clay filled PP nanocomposites. It was found that $scCO_2$ had a measurable effect on the clay dispersion in the polymer matrix and the melt intercalation of a polymer into clay layers.
Recoil system for 40mm automatic gun is a device developed to absorb the shock of explosion. It is impossible to conduct pinpoint strike due to recoil if very high explosive shock, which is generated when an automatic gun fires shells, can't be absorbed. This study covers development and verification of analysis model for recoil system by utilizing a multi-domain software. The research process is as in the following. First, an analysis model is developed to verify damping characteristics through understanding of design intention. Second, environment which is identical to a field test is set up on analysis tool after putting explosive force that is measured through the test into the analysis model. Finally, the analysis model for recoil system using the multi-domain software is verified if it has effectiveness with a comparison between internal pressure of the recoil system along with displacement of gun barrel and the field test result.
