  • The purpose of this study is to estimate the concentrated distribution area of nutria (Myocastor coypus) and potential suitable habitat and to provide useful data for the effective management direction setting. Based on the nationwide distribution data of nutria, the cross-validation value was applied to analyze the distribution density. As a result, the concentrated distribution areas thatrequired preferential elimination is found in 14 administrative areas including Busan Metropolitan City, Daegu Metropolitan City, 11 cities and counties in Gyeongsangnam-do and 1 county in Gyeongsangbuk-do. In the potential suitable habitat estimation using a MaxEnt (Maximum Entropy) model, the possibility of emergency was found in the Nakdong River middle and lower stream area and the Seomjin riverlower stream area and Gahwacheon River area. As for the contribution by variables of a model, it showed DEM, precipitation of driest month, min temperature of coldest month and distance from river had contribution from the highest order. In terms of the relation with the probability of appearance, the probability of emergence was higher than the threshold value in areas with less than 34m of altitude, with $-5.7^{\circ}C{\sim}-0.6^{\circ}C$ of min temperature of the coldest month, with 15-30mm of precipitation of the driest month and with less than 1,373m away from the river. Variables that Altitude, existence of water and wintertemperature affected settlement and expansion of nutria, considering the research results and the physiological and ecological characteristics of nutria. Therefore, it is necessary to reflect them as important variables in the future habitable area detection and expansion estimation modeling. It must be essential to distinguish the concentrated distribution area and the management area of invasive alien species such as nutria and to establish and apply a suitable management strategy to the management site for the permanent control. The results in this study can be used as useful data for a strategic management such as rapid management on the preferential management area and preemptive and preventive management on the possible spreading area.

  • Due to the revision of the River Act and the enactment of the Act on the Investigation, Planning, and Management of Water Resources, a regular bed change survey has become mandatory and a system is being prepared such that local governments can manage water resources in a planned manner. Since the topography of a bed cannot be measured directly, it is indirectly measured via contact-type depth measurements such as level survey or using an echo sounder, which features a low spatial resolution and does not allow continuous surveying owing to constraints in data acquisition. Therefore, a depth measurement method using remote sensing-LiDAR or hyperspectral imaging-has recently been developed, which allows a wider area survey than the contact-type method as it acquires hyperspectral images from a lightweight hyperspectral sensor mounted on a frequently operating drone and by applying the optimal bandwidth ratio search algorithm to estimate the depth. In the existing hyperspectral remote sensing technique, specific physical quantities are analyzed after matching the hyperspectral image acquired by the drone's path to the image of a surface unit. Previous studies focus primarily on the application of this technology to measure the bathymetry of sandy rivers, whereas bed materials are rarely evaluated. In this study, the existing hyperspectral image-based water depth estimation technique is applied to rivers with vegetation, whereas spatio-temporal hyperspectral imaging and cross-sectional hyperspectral imaging are performed for two cases in the same area before and after vegetation is removed. The result shows that the water depth estimation in the absence of vegetation is more accurate, and in the presence of vegetation, the water depth is estimated by recognizing the height of vegetation as the bottom. In addition, highly accurate water depth estimation is achieved not only in conventional cross-sectional hyperspectral imaging, but also in spatio-temporal hyperspectral imaging. As such, the possibility of monitoring bed fluctuations (water depth fluctuation) using spatio-temporal hyperspectral imaging is confirmed.

  • An underwater acoustic (UWA) communication in shallow water is strongly affected by the water surface and the seabed acoustical properties. Every reflected signal to receiver experiences a time-variant scattering in sea surface roughness and a grazing-angle-dependent reflection loss in bottom. Consequently, the performance of UWA communication systems is degraded, and high-speed digital communication is disrupted. If there is a dominant signal path such as a direct path, the received signal is modeled statistically as Rice fading but if not, it is modeled as Rayleigh fading. However, it has been known to be very difficult to reproduce the statistical estimation by real experimental evaluation in the sea. To give an insight for this scattering and grazing-angle-dependent bottom reflection loss effect in UWA communication, authors conduct experiments to quantify these effects. The image is transmitted using binary frequency shift keying (BFSK) modulation. The quality of the received image is shown to be affected by water surface scattering and grazing-angle-dependent bottom reflection loss. The analysis is based on the transmitter to receiver range and the receiver depth dependent image quality and bit error rate (BER). The results show that the received image quality is highly dependent on the transmitter-receiver range and receiver depth which characterizes the channel coherence bandwidth.

  • It is important to use the comb type pilot allocation for the continuous channel and efficient processing. And DFT-spreading OFDM is used a lot to solve high PAPR problem of OFDM system. However, PAPR is increased again when comb type pilot is used to estimate channel characteristics. So, in this paper, we employ a new SLM method to DFT-spreading OFDM system to reduce increased high PAPR. And we suggest an effective method to transmit side information without additional bandwidth. Pilot and side information must be preserved from jamming or intentional interferences since those are very important in DFT spread OFDM system using SLM. So, in this paper, we like to analyze and simulate the performance of DFT spread OFDM system based on SLM against jamming signal. To remedy the vulnerable shortcomings of DFT spread OFDM about jamming or intentional interferences, we employ FH(Frequency Hopping) method and analyze system performance under the several jamming conditions such as MTJ(Multi Tone Jamming) and PBJ(Partial Band Jamming).

  • In WATM networks, in order to perform dynamic slot allocation required slots of mobile terminals are estimated based on DP (Dynamic Parameter) reflecting characteristics of traffic. In VBR (Variable Bit Rate) traffic, slot allocation is done at MT considering both time-dependent characteristics and QoS (Quality of Service) requirements. In this paper, DPs-buffer state information and buffer state change-are transmitted through in-band signaling. BS (Base Station) performs dynamic slot allocation considering traffic characteristics of each MT (Mobile Terminal), in other words, buffer state information informs the potentiality of 'buffer full state'to BS if MT buffer is over the specific threshold value and buffer state change notifies change in buffer state of incoming cells to MT. If buffer state information is equal to 'low (more than threshold)' and 'abrupt increase' it generates 'buffer full' state cell transmission delay or cell loss might occur. At this time BS should assign additional slots to MT, and then MT consumes cells in its buffer. In simulation, the proposed scheme shows better performance in cell delay and loss than EPSA (Estimation-Prorated Slot Assignment) in-band scheme.

  • The existing QoS mechanisms for video streaming are short of the consideration for various user environments and the characteristic of streaming applying programs. In order to overwhelm this problem, studies on the video streaming protocols exploiting scalable video coding (SVC), which provide spatial, temporal, and qualitative scalability in video coding, are progressing actively. However, these protocols also have the problem to deepen network congestion situation, and to lower fairness between other traffics, as they are not equipped with congestion control mechanisms. SVC based streaming protocols also have the problem to overlook the property of videos encoded in SVC, as the protocols transmit the streaming simply by extracting the bitstream which has the maximum bit rate within available bandwidth of a network. To solve these problems, this study suggests TCP-friendly network adaptive SVC streaming(T-NASS) protocol which considers both network status and SVC bitstream property. T-NASS protocol extracts the optimal SVC bitstream by calculating TCP-friendly transmission rate, and by perceiving the network status on the basis of packet loss rate and explicit congestion notification(ECN). Through the performance estimation using an ns-2 network simulator, this study identified T-NASS protocol extracts the optimal bitstream as it uses TCP-friendly transmission property and perceives the network status, and also identified the video image quality transmitted through T-NASS protocol is improved.

  • As the number of multispectral satellites increases, it is expected that it will be possible to acquire and use images for periodically. However, there is a problem of data discrepancy due to different overpass time, period and spatial resolution. In particular, the difference in band bandwidths became different reflectance even for images taken at the same time and affect uncertainty in the analysis of vegetation activity such as vegetation index. The purpose of this study is to estimate the band adjustment factor according to the difference of bandwidth with other multispectral satellites for the application of KOMPSAT-3 satellite in agriculture field. The Spectral band adjustment factor (SBAF) were calculated using the hyperspectral satellite images acquired in the desert area. As a result of applying SBAF to the main crop area, the vegetation index showed a high agreement rate of relative percentage difference within 3% except for the Hapcheon area where the zenith angle was 25. For the estimation of SBAF, this study used only one set of images, which did not consider season and solar zenith angle of SBAF variation. Therefore, long-term analysis is necessary to solve SBAF uncertainty in the future.

  • In this Paper a split bandwidth wideband speech coder and its highband coding method are Proposed. The coder uses a split-band approach. where the wideband input speech signal is split into two equal frequency bands from 0-4kHz and 4-8kHz. The lowband and the highband are coded respectively by the 11.8kb/s G.729 Annex E and the proposed coding method. After the LPC analysis, the highband is divided by two modes according to the properties of signals. In stationary mode. the highband signals are compressed by the mixture excitation model; CELP algorithm and W (Matching Pursuit) algorithm. The others are coded by the only CELP algorithm. We compare the performance of the new wideband speech coder with that of G.722 48kbps SB-ADPCM and G.722.2 12.85kbps in a subjective method. The simulation results show that the Performance of the proposed wideband speech coder has better than that of 48kbps G.722 and no better than that of 12.85kbps G.722.2.
