  • The purpose of this study was to investigate body cathexis and clothing involvement by demographic characteristics and to indentify the relationship between body cathexis and clothing involvment. Five aspects of body cathexis(lower body, head/upper body, height, weight, torso) were assessed with 17 Likert type questionnaires adapted from the previous researches, and 24 items of clothing involvement were measured. The questionnaire was administered to 430 women in Taegu, Korea. The data were analyzed using percentage, frequency, factor analysis, ANOVA, Sceffe test, t-test, and Pearson's Correlation Analysis. The results of the study were as follows; 1. The body cathexis showed head/upper body, height, torso, lower body, weight in order of satisfaction level. Especially lower body and weight part were shown as the most unsatisfactory body parts. Age of 20s' showed the lowest body cathexis, and those who had the higher educational background and family income were more satisfied with their bodies. 2. Five dimensions of clothing involvement were derived by factor analysis such as fashion, interest, pleasure, symbolism, and perceived buying risk. 3. There were significant relationships between clothing involvement dimensions and demographic characteristics such as age, educational background and family income level. Those who were younger showed positive relationship partially among fashion, interest and pleasure of clothing dimensions but showed negative relationship in total clothing involvement. Those who had higher educational background and family income showed positive clothing involvement than married women and empolyed showed higher clothing involvement with symbolism and perceived buying risk than unemployed women partially but not in total clothing involvement with symbolism and perceived buying risk than unemployed women partially but not in total clothing involvement. 4. There were significant relationships between body cathexis and interest, perceived buying risk of clothing involvement partially. However, the correlation between body cathexis and total clothing involvement was relatively low.

  • Wind turbines produce aerodynamic noise which fluctuate periodically at a blade passing frequency. This sound characteristic is called amplitude modulation, or swishing sound. Several previous studies claimed that this amplitude modulation has a possibility to increase noise annoyance. Thus, this study performed a listening test to find the relationship between the amplitude modulation in wind turbine noise on noise annoyance. The stimuli for the listening test was recorded from a 1.5MW wind turbine in Jeju island. The result of the listening test shows that the amplitude modulation in wind turbine noise significantly increase noise annoyance. Moreover, this study analytically examined the effect of amplitude modulation on noise perception. The result indicates that amplitude modulated sound can be easily perceived even though the background noise level is higher than the sound level of the signal.

  • A coast down test mothod has been used to determine the resistance forces on running vehicle due to the aerodynamic drag, rolling resistance and driveline resistance. Most of the tests, however, are based on the Velocity-Time measurements, which require a sophisticated velocity measuring device and contain much error by nature. In the present study a coast down test method based on Distance-Time measurements is introduced, which contains the original idea of Russian scientist Prof. Petrushov along with the suggestions for improvement of the accuracy.

  • For the economical and reasonable operation of electric power system according to continual increase of electric power demand and decrease of load factor, the potential application of superconducting magnertic energy storage [SMES] with high efficiency and fast response in the electric utility is receiving attractive attension. In the light of this background, to confirm the basic principle of SMES, theoretical study, design technique and fabrication procedure for superconducting coil, current lead, cryostat, measuring and protection system of SMES are described in detail. Especially, a new design technique for superconducting coil and current lead is porposed and it was proved experimentally by the performance test of SMES which is developed for the first time in our country. At the peak operating current 200A, the maximum magnetic field amd stored energy of the coil are 3.52T and 2500J, espectively. The thermal and mechanical stability of 2500J SMES is also confirmed experimetally by its characteristics test, AC loss, protection system, charge and discharge test. The experimetal results show good characteristics of energy storage system.

  • By researching the situation of family ethics and practice that is being conducted in Christical family of Korea we will see what Korean church can do for the Korean family and forming family ethics of Korea. For this purpose survey was conducted from 9th to 21 st of September(1998) 670 people(male and female who are Christian) who have one or more child from 10 churches of Seuol area and 8 churches of Kyunggi province ; frequency percentage mean t-test f-test {{{{ CHI ^2 }} }}-test Scheffe's multiple range test factor analysis. The major findings of this study are as follows; The practicing of christian's family ehics for testees was also cery good. Especially it was prominent in wedding family ethics for testees was also very good. Especially it was prominent in wedding ethics and in education of ethics to children. Among the socio-demographic variables religious background of family and education are prominent variables for the practicing of christian's family ethics.

  • Background: This study was to investigate effects of falls prevention exercise on functional fitness in elderly. Methods: A total of 45 healthy over 65years old adults (men=15, women=30) who were participated in this study. Exercise were involved in the period of 12 week complex physical training for around 50 minutes a day, three times per week. We measured subjects' physical activity levels by short physical performance battery(SPPB) test, timed up & go(TUG) test, one leg standing test(OLST) with closed eyes and maximal step length (MSL) test. Results: After falls prevention exercise, there were statically significant differences in SPPB, TUG, OLST and MSL test (P<.01) between pre and post test. There were statically significant differences in SPPB, TUG, OLST, MSL between pre and post test in men and women. There were statically significant differences between men and women in SPPB, TUG, OLST and MSL test. Conclusion: Falls prevention exercise had significant effects on physical fitness level in elderly, with a result increase muscle strength, balance ability and it might prevent falls.

  • Test anxiety has been defined as a situational-specific personality trait, with cognitive worry and affective emotionality components. Various treatments differ in the extent to which they attempt to modify the emotional and cognitive components of test anxiety, and can thus be placed along a cognitive-emotional continum on the basis of the intended locus of impact of the therapeutic techniques. Various treatments along a cognitive-emotional continum and study habits, test-taking skills and modeling in the treatment of test anxiety were reviewed. On the basis of a recent review of a number of test-anxiety treatment studies, most cognitively-focused treatments tend to be more effective in reducing test anxiety and its worry and emotionality components.

  • The purpose of this paper is to investigate whether high-level(level 6) essay-writing questions in Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK) have been presented appropriately so as to enable foreign test-takers to display their Korean writing ability properly, and to provide some suggestions on how those questions need to be changed. To accomplish this purpose, all the essay-writing questions were collected from the 33 TOPIK tests, from the 2nd in 1998 to the 35thin 2014, and analyzed from the perspectives of their topics and formats. The results are that high-level TOPIK essay-writing questions showed a strong tendency to take as their topics Korean sociocultural structures and phenomena, or current issues in Korea, and that they frequently employed guided writing formats by providing preset ideas or/and contexts for test-takers to write in a guided way; such tendencies were analyzed to shed a negative influence on test-takers displaying their writing ability and creativity, because those topics and preset ideas or contexts provided do not allow them to express their own opinions or positions freely. It is suggested that TOPIK essay-writing questions should be changed to deal with objective and general topics which enable test-takers to write freely and logically in Korean based on their experience, because TOPIK is not a test to check whether they have enough background knowledge about the Korean society and culture, but a test to assess their Korean proficiency.
