  • This paper has been studied a new method to update the background image of a visual surveillance system which is not stationary. In order to do this, we use another background model designed with the whole monitored images in a regular time period. By comparing each changed area computed from the two background model images and current monitored image, the areas which will be updated are decided.

  • This study proposes a novel video traffic flow detection method based on machine vision technology. The three-frame difference method, which is one kind of a motion evaluation method, is used to establish initial background image, and then a statistical scoring strategy is chosen to update background image in real time. Finally, the background difference method is used for detecting the moving objects. Meanwhile, a simple but effective shadow elimination method is introduced to improve the accuracy of the detection for moving objects. Furthermore, the study also proposes a vehicle matching and tracking strategy by combining characteristics, such as vehicle's location information, color information and fractal dimension information. Experimental results show that this detection method could quickly and effectively detect various traffic flow parameters, laying a solid foundation for enhancing the degree of automation for traffic management.

  • As the world is trying to establish smart city, unmanned vehicle control systems are being widely used. This paper writes about an unmanned parking control system that uses an adaptive background image modeling method, suggesting the method of updating the background image, modeled with an adaptive Gaussian mixture model, in both global and local way according to the moving object. Specifically, this paper focuses on suggesting two methods; a method of minimizing the influence of a moving object on a background image and a method of accurately updating the background image by quickly removing afterimages of moving objects within the area of interest to be monitored. In this paper, through the implementation of the unmanned vehicle control system, we proved that the proposed system can quickly and accurately distinguish both moving and static objects such as vehicles from the background image.

  • This paper describes a robust visual surveillance algorithm under outdoor environment. One of the difficult problems for outdoor is to obtain effective updating process of background images. Because background images generally contain the shadows of buildings, trees, moving clouds and other objects, they are changed by lapse of time and variation of illumination. They provide the lowering of performance for surveillance system under outdoor. In this paper, a robust algorithm for visual surveillance system under outdoor is proposed, which apply the mixture Gaussian filter and color invariant property on pixel level to update background images. In results, it was showed that the moving objects can be detected on various shadows under outdoor.

  • This paper suggests an efficient method which tracks articulated human body modeled with markov network using disparity map derived from stereo images. The conventional methods which only use color information to calculate likelihood for energy function tend to fail when background has same colors with objects or appearances of object are changed during the movement. In this paper, we present a method evaluating likelihood with both disparity information and color information to find human body parts. Since the human body part are cylinder projected to rectangles in 2D image plane, we use the properties of distribution of disparity of those rectangles that do not have discontinuous distribution. In addition to that we suggest a conditional-messages-update that is able to reduce unnecessary message update of belief propagation. Since the message update has comprised over 80% of the whole computation in belief propagation, the conditional-message-update yields 9~45% of improvements of computational time. Furthermore, we also propose an another speed up method called three dimensional dynamic models assumed the body motion is continuous. The experiment results show that the proposed method reduces the computational time as well as it increases tracking accuracy.

  • In this paper, I propose a reference image updating algorithm for Intruder Detection System using a difference image method that can reliably separate moving objects from noisy background in the image sequence received from a camera at the fixed position. The proposed algorithm consists of four process determines threshold value and quantization, segmentation of a moving object area, generation of adaptive temporary image that removes a moving object area, and updates reference image using median filtering. The test results show that the proposed algorithm can generate reference image very effectively in the noisy environment.

  • With the development of mobile devices and intelligent surveillance system loaded with pan/tilt cameras, object tracking with non-stationary cameras has become a topic with increasing importancy. Since it is difficult to model a background image in a non-stationary camera environment, colors and texture are the most important features in the tracking algorithm. However, colors in the background similar to those in the target arise instability in the tracking. Recently, we proposed a robust color based tracking algorithm that uses an area weighted centroid shift. In this letter, we update the model such that it becomes more stable against background colors. The proposed algorithm also incorporates time filtering by adding an additional energy term to the energy functional.

  • In this paper, we propose a robust clutter pre-thresholding method using background adaptive Threshold Map for the clutter rejection in the complex coastal environment. The proposed algorithm is composed of the use of Threshold Map's and method of its calculation. Additionally we also suggest an automatic decision method of Thresold Map's update. Experimental results on some sets of real infrared image sequence show that the proposed method could remove clutters effectively without any loss of detection rate for the aim target and reduce processing time dramatically.

  • The background subtraction method is mainly used for the real-time extraction and tracking of moving objects from image sequences. In the outdoor environment, there are many changeable environment factors such as gradually changing illumination, swaying trees and suddenly moving objects , which are to be considered for an adaptive processing. Normally, GMM(Gaussian Mixture Model) is used to subtract the background by considering adaptively the various changes in the scenes, and the adaptive GMMs improving the real-time Performance were Proposed and worked. This paper, for on-line background subtraction, employed the improved adaptive GMM, which uses the small constant for learning rate a and is not able to speedily adapt the suddenly movement of objects, So, this paper Proposed and evaluated the dynamic control method of a using the adaptive selection of the number of component distributions and the global variances of pixel values.
