  • As optical network technology advances and high bandwidth Internet is demanded for the exponential growth of internet traffic volumes, the Dense-Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) networks have been widely accepted as a promising approach to the Next Generation Optical Internet (NGOI) backbone networks for nation wide or global coverage. Important issues in the NGOI based on DWDM networks are the Routing and Wavelength Assignment(RWA) problem and survivability. Especially, fault/attack detection, localization and recovery schemes in All Optical Transport Network(AOTN) is one of the most important issues because a short service disruption in DWDM networks carrying extremely high data rates causes loss of vast traffic volumes. In this paper, we suggest a fault/attack management model for NGOI through analyzing fault/attack vulnerability of various optical backbone network devices and propose fault/attack recovery procedure considering Extended-LMP(Link Management Protocol) and RSVP-TE+(Resource Reservation Protocol-Traffic Engineering) as control protocols in IP/GMPLS over DWDM.

Dominating set has been used extensively as core or virtual backbone in WSNs for the purposes like routing and message broadcast. To ensure network performance, a good dominating set construction protocols should be simple and avoid introducing extra message. In addition, the resulting dominating set should be small, connected, and take into account the energy level at each node. This paper studies efficient and simple virtual backbone construction protocol using defer time in IEEE 802.15.4- based WSNs (e.g. Zigbee). The efficiency of our proposed protocol is confirmed through simulation results.

  • In this Paper, we W a Hovel global traffic control architecture to isolate malicious network attacks and protect network infrastructure in Internet backbone networks. Unlike existing methods based on individual packets or flows, since the proposed detection and control methods are operated on the aggregate traffic level, the computational complexity can k significantly reduced, and they are applicable to develop a global defense architecture against network attack. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme can detect the network attack symptoms very exactly and quickly and protect the network resources as well as the normal traffic flows very efficiently.

  • Over for the past 10 years, the increase in geometric progression for the internet traffic, has allowed the IP protocol framework to be the most important network technology. In addition, the internet service is being developed as a service mode differentiated, aiming to support the new-mode real-time multimedia services such as internet phone, video conference, cyber reality, and internet game, focusing on offering a latest service. These days, aiming to solve the need for broad bandwidth along with guaranteeing QoS, the WDM technology of offering multiple gigabit wavelengths is emerging as the core technology of next-generation optical internet backbone network. In the next-generation optical internet backbone network based on WDM, the QoS framework is one of fore subjects aiming to offer a service of guaranteeing QoS This study analyzes the requirements of performance related to QoS framework in IP Subnet and in WDM optical backbone network, and suggests optical QoS service framework differentiated. in order to guarantee end-to-end QoS through the next-generation optical internet backbone network, using GMPLS control protocol.

  • In the shipbuilding industry, due to the global trends where the number of IT (Information Technology) devices of a smart ship have been increased rapidly, the need to develop a new shipboard backbone network has recently emerged for integrating and managing the IT devices of a smart ship efficiently. A shipboard backbone network requires high survivability because it is constructed in automatic and unmanned smart ships where a failure of the backbone network can cause critical problems. The purpose of this paper thus is to study SAN (Ship Area Network) as a efficient shipboard backbone network, considering particularity of shipboard environment and requirement of high survivability. In order to do so, we designed a dual network topology that all network nodes, including the IT devices installed in a smart ship, are connected each other through dual paths, and reuding tht IT devices pnstalles supporices network survivability as well as t Iffic efficiency for the dual network topology. And then, we verified the performance of the suggested SAN by theoretical and practical analysis including the graph theory, the probability theory, implemental specifications, and computer simulations.

  • The recent explosion in the Internet applications, Internet. host number and the traffic in the IP backbone network is posing new challenges for transport network. This requires a high-speed IP backbone network that has a substantially higher bandwidth than the one offered by current networks, which prompts the development of all-optical network. To obtain optical network utilization gains, we need a software which establishs logical topology to make possible the efficient use or physical topology, and control the optical network in combination with the IP layer routing protocols. Finally, the logical topology is required higher efficient than physical topology. For this an efficient algorithm for the routing and wavelength assignment(RWA) in the WDM all-optical network is necessary. In this paper, two kinds of heuristic algorithms to establish logical topology for WDM networks and arc applied to the design of logical topology of domestic backbone network. These algorithms are found to work quite well and they arc compared with each other in terms of blocking rate, etc.

  • Wireless mesh network (WMN) is a type of mobile ad-hoc network consists of wireless router, mobile clients and gateway which connects the network with the Internet. To provide security in the network it is required to encrypt the message sent among the communicating nodes in such way so that only legitimate user can retrieve the original data. Several security mechanisms have been proposed so far to enhance the security of WMN. However, there still exists a need for a comprehensive mechanism to prevent attacks in data communication. Considering the characteristic of mesh network, in this paper we proposed a public key cryptography based security architecture to establish a secure key agreement among communicating nodes in mesh network. The proposed security architecture consists of two major sections: client data protection and network data protection. Client data protection deals with the mutual authentication between the client and the access router and provide client to access router encryption for data confidentiality using standard IEEE 802.11i protocol. On the other hand, network data protection ensures encrypted routing and data transfer in the multi hop backbone network. For the network data protection, we used the pre-distributed public key to form a secure backbone infrastructure.

  • e-VLBI was invented to enhance the efficiency of VLBI (Very-Long-Baseline Interferometry) system by transmitting the data via high speed network. Korean VLBI Network (KVN) has a plan to construct e-VLBI system named e-KVN. High speed backbone network and efficient network model are essential to implement successful e-VLBI system. This paper introduces a network model based on PC cluster technology. The present status of high speed backbone network in Korea is overviewed. We suggest that the network link via Korea Advanced Research Network (KOREN) is one of feasible way for e-KVN. We also describe the principles of e-VLBI and protocol for network transmission such as VSI-E (VLBI Standard Interface - Electronic), RTP (Real-Time Transport Protocol) and RTCP (Real-Time Transport Control protocol).

  • In this paper, we propose MPLO(Multi-Path routing with Local Optimization) for load balancing in the tactical backbone network. The MPLO manages global metric and local metric separately. The global metric is propagated to other routers via a routing protocol and is used for configuring loop-free multi-path. The local metric reflecting link utilization is used to find an alternate path when congestion occurs. We verified MPLO could effectively distribute user traffic among available routers by simulation.

  • Acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC) is an excellent candidate for antibiotics drug target, which mediates malonyl-CoA synthesis from acetyl-CoA through acetylation process. It is also involved in the committed step of fatty acid synthesis which is essential for living organisms. We have determined the three dimensional structure of C terminal domain of HP0371, biotin-carboxyl carrier protein of H. pyroli, in solution state using heteronuclear multi-dimensional NMR spectroscopy. The structure of HP0371 shows a flatten b-sheet fold which is similar with that of E. coli. However, the sequence and structure of protruding thumb are different with that of E. coli and the thumb shows different basis of structural rigidity based on backbone dynamics data.
