축대칭 고체내부의 단축 응력에 의한 초음파 복굴절 특성 연구 (Study on Ultrasonic Birefringence by Uniaxial Stress in Axisymmetric Solids)

  • 축대칭 단축 응력은 이론적으로는 초음파 응력측정 기술에서 가장 단순한 대상이지만 두 횡파를 이용하는 기존의 초음파 복굴절 응력측정 기술은 축대칭 구조에서 사용되기 어렵다. 또한 선형 음탄성 이론에 근거한 초음파 진행거리 시간 측정방법 역시 적용에 한계가 있는 경우가 많은데 그 이유는 초음파 길이(ultrasonic length)와 재료의 음탄성 특성을 정확히 알아야 한다는 점 때문이다. 본 논문에서는 축대칭 구조의 고체내부에 축 응력이 존재할 때 나타나는 초음파 복굴절 특성을 음탄성 이론을 이용하여 분석하였다. 이를 위해 서로 다른 편광특성을 가지는 두개의 초음파가 축 방향으로 입사될 때 만들어지는 속도 변화를 음탄성 이론식으로부터 결정하고 이를 이용하여 축 응력과 복굴절 특성의 관계를 유도한 후 이 결과를 간단한 인장 실험결과로부터 검증하였다.

비축대칭 제품의 냉간단조 공정설계시스템에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Automated Process Planning System for Cold Forging of Non-axisymmetric Parts)

  • An automated process planning system for cold forging of non-axisymmetric parts of comparatively simple shape was developed in this study. Programs for the system have been written with Visual LISP in the AutoCAD using a personal computer and are composed of four main modules such as input module, shape cognition and shape expression module, material diameter determination module and process planning module. The design rules and knowledges for the system are extracted from the plasticity theories, handbook, relevant reference and empirical knowledge of field experts. Generally, in forging, only front view is needed for expression of axisymmetric parts, but non-axisymmetric parts need front and plane view. At the plane, this system cognizes the external shape of non-axisymmetric, parts - number of sides of regular polygon and radius of a circle circumscribing the polygon of n sides. At the front view, the system perceives diameter of axisymmetric portions and height of primitive geometries such as polygon, cylinder, cone, concave, convex, etc.

  • A study of free vibration of axisymmetric circular plates based on Mindlin theory using a pseudospectral method is presented. The analysis is based on Chebyshev polynomials that are widely used in the fluid mechanics research community. Clamped, simply supported and flee boundary conditions are considered, and numerical results are presented for various thickness-to-radius ratios.

  • An implicit finite element formulation for axisymmetric tube hydroforming is investigated. In order to describe normal anisotropy of the tube, Hill's non-quadratic yield function is employed. The frictional contact between die and tube and frictionless contact between tube and fluid are considered using the mesh-normal vector computed from finite element mesh of the tube. In order to verify the validity of the developed finite element formulation, the axisymmetric tube bulge test is simulated and simulation results are compared with experimental measurements. In the axisymmetric tube hydroforming process, an optimal hydraulic curve is pursued by performing the simulation with various internal pressures and axial forces.

자발광 확산 사각화염 내부 구조의 단층 진단 (Tomographic Reconstruction of a Non-axisymmetric Diffusion Flame)

  • The structure of a non-axisymmetric propane diffusion flame was investigated. Tomographic reconstruction method to convert the line-integrated self-emission data of a fuel-rich diffusion flame with square cross-section was applied to get the spatially reconstructed emission data. Modified Shepp-Logan filter and concentric squares raster were chosen for reconstructing arbitrarily shaped object in this process. Spatially reconstructed emission data were then interpreted to several physical quantities, such as flame edge, FWHM, perimeter and 3-D flame temperature distribution. Necessary assumptions were discussed and the results were interpreted. In comparison with axisymmetric flame, flame edge was developed higher, and sooting region of upstream was broader than in this non-axisymmetric one. At some height, the flame was shrunk very rapidly and finally formed circular cross-section.

  • Prestressing tendons of the nuclear containment building dome are arranged in a non-axisymmetric manner. However, simple axisymmetric modeling of the containment building is often employed to estimate the structural behavior for, e.g. the ultimate pressure, which requires the axisymmetric approximation of the actual tendon arrangements of the dome. A procedure is proposed that can devise the actual 3-dimensional tendon stiffness and prestressing effect into the axisymmetric model. A numerical example of the CANDU type is presented to verify the procedure and to estimate the amount of approximation.

  • It is very important to analyze the dynamic responses of the shell structures from the viewpoint of the design of shell structures with a variety of axisymmetric loadings. In this paper, the computational algorithm for the dynamic response analysis of an cylindrical shell with axisymmetric loading is formulated by the transfer mass coefficient method based on the transfer of mass coefficient. After the computational programs for obtaining the dynamic responses of cylindrical shells with axisymmetric loading are made by the transfer mass coefficient method and the finite element method, the computational results by both methods are compared. From the computational results, we can confirm that the transfer mass coefficient method has the effectiveness in the dynamic response analyses of cylindrical shells with a variety of axisymmetric loadings.

  • A Numerical simulation for the propulsion of axisymmetric body by contractive and dilative motion is carried out. The present analysis shows that a propulsive force can be obtained in highly viscous fluid by a contractive and dilative motion of axisymmetric body. An axisymmetric analysis code is developed with unstructured grid system for the simulation of complicated motion and geometry. The developed code is validated by comparing with the results of stokes approximation with the problem of uniform flow past a sphere in low Reynolds number($R_n=1$). The validated code is applied to the simulation of contractive and dilative motion of body. The simulation is extended to the analysis of waving surface with projecting part for finding out the difference of hydrodynamic performance according to the variation of waving surface configuration. The present study will be the basic research for the development of the propulsor of an axisymmetric micro-hydro-machine.

지하매설 배관의 축대칭 파동 전파 가능성 해석 (Analysis on the Likelihood of Axisymmetric Wave Propagation in Buried Water Pipes)

  • A study of the possible axisymmetric modes that propagate at low frequencies in buried, water-filled pipes is presented. It is well known that for a vacuum-pipe-vacuum system the sole non-torsional axisymmetric mode that exists at low frequencies is the fundamental L(0,1) mode. When a pipe is filled with water and still surrounded by a vacuum it is also known that another mode then appears which at low frequencies is characterized by predominantly axial water-borne displacements. In addition to these modes. this paper explores two other, less well known axisymmetric modes whose exitence depends on the acoustic properties of the outer medium that surrounds a pipe. The predicted characteristics of these modes are presented and the likelihood of them propagating over any significant distance in a buried water pipe is discussed.
