There is a concern in the aviation community that pilot schedules can lead to fatigue and increased chance of an aviation accident. Yet despite this concern, there is little empirical studies showing the relationship between pilot fatigue and commercial aviation accidents. At this point of view, countering fatigue is a challenging proposition in complex aviation operations. However, with appropriate planning, many strategies can contribute to pilot alertness and flight safety. With proper education program, sustaining a physiological fit, a right knowledge about pilot fatigue can design a safety operations. On this study, I inquire into the ways of enhancing pilot's efficiency from fatigue.
The Technical Standard Order articles are the parts and appliances for which the civil aviation authority designates as it is necessary to standardize for the expedited certification process and aviation safety. TSO articles were used on the type certified aircraft as replacement parts in the early days of TSO authorization system, but those articles are widely used on the newly developed aircraft as well in these days. In this paper, we compared the differences of the TSO authorization systems between FAA and EASA, and proposed the rulemaking items to improve Korean TSO authorization system and to contribute to growth of aviation industry.

Many organizations apply reactive safety management to prevent the same or similar types of accidents by through investigation and analysis of the accident cases. Although research on investigation techniques has contributed a lot to the objective results of safety accidents and the preparation of countermeasures, many accident investigation techniques currently in use treat accidents from a linear perspective, revealing limitations in reflecting current systems dominated by complexity and uncertainty. In order to overcome these limitations, this study will review recent studies and concepts from a system safety perspective and predict future research trends through a case analysis of aviation accident. The models used in the analysis are STAMP, HFACS, and FRAM, and the characteristics of each technique are presented so that analysts who perform related tasks in the field can refer to them.
Composite materials used in aircraft must be certified using approved materials to ensure the the airworthiness of the aircraft. Certification is carried out by verifying the physical properties and processes of the materials, and producing material and process specifications. The composite material certification system in ROK(Republic of Korea) has been established through the MOLIT(Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport) pilot certification project for aircraft composite materials. Currently, the KIAST(Korea Institute of Aviation Safety Technology) operates and manages the certification and shared data system. This study identifies realm for improvement in the established certification system for aircraft composite materials based on empirical evidence and aims to propose measures for the certification and industrial promotion of domestically produced aircraft composite materials.
Structured Checklist of System Aviation Safety Oversight had been categorized by HFACS. In this Study, Findings of Aviation Safety oversight, have been categorized by HFACS. Thus, those two categorized results have difference in incongruity clause that can be concluded that Structured Checklist has lack of elements. Therefore, we are able to identify validity and suitability of checklist that need to be restructured and redeveloped by performing test analysis through this study.
Recently, the Machine Learning based Artificial Intelligence has introduced in aviation field. In most cases, safety assurance of aviation software is achieved by applying RTCA DO-178C or DO-278A or similar standards. These standards were developed for and are well-suited to software that has inherent deterministic properties and explainability. Considering the characteristics of AI software based on ML, it is not feasible to assure the integrity of those new aviation systems using traditional software assurance standards mentioned above. In this paper, we research the certification framework that is newly suggested by EASA to deal with the aviation system including ML AI functions, and discuss what should the Korean authority and related industries prepare to cope with this issue.

Despite the development of the aviation industry, aircraft accidents caused by human errors by flight crews continue to occur. In order to reduce such human error accidents, it is important to strengthen flight-related regulations and establish a safety culture in which pilots themselves seek to ensure flight safety, rather than requiring flight crew members to follow them. In this study, the sub-concept of safety culture was classified into three latent variables (safety management, safety atmosphere, and process culture) and eight measured variables to investigate the safety culture awareness of domestic flight crew. The survey results were analyzed by type of airline and flight crew. The purpose of this study is to present a plan to improve the performance of revitalizing the safety culture of domestic flight crew through an empirical comparative analysis according to the number of flight hours and years of service at the airline.

The Japanese and U.S. governments has signed a Bilateral Aviation Safety Agrement and associated implementation procedures for airworthiness on April 27, 2009 to mutually accept the airworthiness approvals for aircraft and parts that the other country issue. This bilateral agreements do not relieve the Civil Aviation Authority(CAA) of its statutory responsibilities for certification. However, they provide an alternative means for the CAA to make its findings, recognizing the competency of another authority to conduct certification functions in a manner comparable to, and on behalf of, the CAA. In this way, the bilateral agreements contribute to ensuring aviation safety as well as reducing the burden imposed on the aviation industries without compromising safety. This paper is to discuss recent status of Bilateral Aviation Safety Agreement and associated Japanese Aircraft Certification System.

Aviation safety issues have drawn much attention from the international community due to the growing demand for air travel. Although it is a widely accepted fact that human-related factors are closely linked to aviation safety, there is lack of understanding what roles those factors play in aviation, in the field of air traffic control in particular. It has been reported that the role of air traffic controllers significantly affects air safety. This review will discuss cognitive aspects of expertise in air traffic control including time perception, working memory, reasoning, perception, attention, scanning/vigilance, decision making, and planning with examples of how each aspect can be dealt with in performing air traffic control duties. The relevant studies in psychology have also been briefly reviewed in the interest of enhancing understanding of characteristics of air traffic control tasks and the related human factors. This review concludes with a call for more in-depth research into cognitive factors in air traffic control.
Purpose: To attain advanced performance certification, safety aspects along with functionality and performance are essential. Hence, this study suggests radiation leakage assessment methods for aviation security equipment during its performance certification. Methods: Detection technology guided the choice of radiation leakage assessment targets. We then detailed measurement and evaluation methods based on equipment type and operation mode. Equipment was categorized as container or box types for establishing measurement procedures. Results: We've developed specific radiation leakage assessment procedures for different types of aviation security equipment, crucial for ensuring airport safety. Using these procedures allows efficient evaluation of compliance with radiation leakage standards. Conclusion: The suggested radiation leakage assessment method aims to enhance aviation security and reliability. Future research will focus on identifying risks in novel aviation security equipment detection technologies and establishing safety standards.
