  • Due to the increased leisure time, national income levels, and increasing the desire for new experience, interest causes increasing demand for recent aviation leisure sport. This leads to the need for a competitive foundation of the expansion of aviation leisure sports market potential. In 2014, the MOLIT(Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport) created definition of sport and recreational aviation industry in the Aviation Act. The most significant change in Aviation Act related to sport and recreational aviation, it allows easier access for those wishing to participate in the joy of flight and also creating a sport and recreational aviation business market expansion. Therefore, in this paper, by analyzing the trend of foreign policy trends and domestic policies that sport and recreational aviation has been enabled, it is trying to present the activation policy proposals of sport and recreational aviation that is suitable for Korea.

  • With the flow of globalization, world aviation markets are showing growing trends toward liberalization, deregulation, and privatization. At the same time, also apparent is a strong trend toward regionalism on aviation markets to realize open skies at the regional level. This research examines the recent trend of regionalism in the world aviation market from a political economic perspective, taking a single European aviation market as an example. The results show that the creation of a single European aviation market is the EU's strategic response against the US to enhance the European aviation industry's competitiveness. More specifically, the results show that the European countries are creating a single European aviation market in order to stand against the US' so-called 'divide and nile policy' and 'encirclement strategy' and to make their airliners to have competitive advantages over the US airliners on the lucrative North-Atlantic air routes. Recently, the single European aviation market is expanding by including the Mediterranean and Balkan states to pursue Pan European aviation cooperation and to develop European Common Aviation Area so that it can continuously enhance its negotiating leverage against external markets. The results imply that it is urgent for the Northeast Asian countries to create their own regional aviation bloc to develop their aviation industry and to increase their negotiating power against external countries.

  • For the sake of the safety of aircraft, aviation obstacle lights should be installed on the towers of transmission line in accordance with the Aviation Act. At present, the used solar-cell aviation obstacle lights are composed of LED lamp and a regulator, batteries, solar-cells which are divided into four parts. And, the divided four parts are connected by cable. Also, aviation obstacle lights are consisted of 150 LED lamps. therefore, the scale of sollar-cells, batteries and the power consumption of aviation obstacle light is big. For that reason, this paper would introduce the development of the solar-cell type single body LED aviation obstacle using the high brightness LED in order to make aviation obstacle more lightened and small-sized.

  • This research was conducted to investigate the feasibility of aviation safety technology development. The important subjects of aviation safety technology development, aviation accident prevention and damage reduction technique, aircraft safety certification development, BASA promotion in an aircraft class, were included to investigate the the feasibility of aviation safety technology development. The survey technique using Benefit-Cost Anlysis was performed and the results showed that aviation safety technology development brought scientific technique effect, industrial and economic effect, and the rest effects. Also, the benefits from aviation safety technology development were much greater than the costs.

  • This paper describes commander Cho's achievements, who is not only a founder of naval aviation, but also a pioneer of domestic aviation. He developed a number of seaplanes with components taken from US military aircrafts abandoned during Korean war. He eventually established the naval aviation unit with aircraft developed under his leadership, and devoted his life for coast guard as a first commander. Proudly, ROK navy operated the naval aviation unit based on its own developed aircraft. It was a glorious achievement of ROK navy and a beginning milestone of korean aviation history.

  • Aviation safety is increasingly important to secure the safety of the Republic of Korea Air Force (ROKAF). A critical activity for enhancing aviation safety is to analyze an accident throughly and to identify causes that can explain it reasonably. The results of such a systematic accident investigation can be effectively used for improving information displays, task procedures, and training systems as well as for reorganizing team structure and communication control system. However, the current practice of analyzing aviation accidents in ROKAF is too superficial and simple to diagnose them systematically. Additionally, the current practice does not give a full consideration to human factors that have been identified as main causes of most of the aviation accidents. With this issue in mind, this study aims to suggest a new approach to analyzing aviation accidents related to human factors. The proposed method is developed on the basis of several models and frameworks about system safety, human error, and human-system interaction. Its application to forty-two human factors-related accidents, which have occurred in ROKAF during the last ten years, showed that the proposed method could be a useful tool for analyzing aviation accidents caused by human factors.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop competitiveness evaluation index for global aviation training organizations. Research and studies on relevant documents were conducted to establish the index. With no sufficient study results previously done directly associated with global aviation training organization, relevant and related documents, such as studies on competitiveness evaluation index of higher educational institutions, were reviewed as an alternative. Two rounds of delphi surveys were conducted based on the review and consultation from experts in aviation training and human resource management fields. First round of survey with 62 evaluation indices were carried out, through which a total of 29 were selected, and 19 indices were chosen during the second round of survey. However, factor analysis was conducted in order to justify the survey result, which eliminated 3 more indices, with 16 finally selected. This study will provide implications for aviation training organizations which need to further improve their competitiveness globally.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the face validity of the revised EPTA (English Proficiency Test for Aviation) to see if the tests actually contribute to the enhancement of aviation safety and achieve the purpose of the assessment. In order to reach the above objectives, 103 pilot test takers were surveyed, and nine in-depth interviewees were selected and interviewed. In addition, detailed research results were derived by dividing the participants into the pilot's flight experience (31 captain pilots, 42 first officer pilots, and 30 general commercial pilots). As a result, pilot participants were generally aware that EPTA was more reasonable because the revised EPTA properly implemented the aviation situation and gave participants motivation to learn aviation English. It was also seen that first officer pilots had a higher face validity of EPTA than captain and general commercial pilots. The reason was that first officer pilots considered air traffic control job was more important than other pilots did.
