  • A new model utilizing a transfer function was proposed in the previous paper for analizing motion errors of hydrostatic tables. Validity of the proposed method was theoretically verified as the calculated motion errors were compared with the results by conventional multi pad method. In this paper, relationship between form error of rail and motion errors of hydrostatic table is analized theoretically in order to comprehand so-called 'averaging effect of oil film'. Experiments on the motion errors of hydrostatic table is conducted with 3 different rails, and the results are compared with the results calculated by Transfer Function Method. The results show good agreement. From the results, it is verified that TFM is very effective to analize the motion errors of hydrostatic table.

  • To extract time-varying evoked potential (EP), segement latency corrected average method is presented. This method is composed of three steps. First, adaptive filtering for reducing the effect of artifacts and removing background noise is performed. Next, validated intervals of individual segments are aligned, and latency components are detected by cross-correlation between the previously obtained and measured EPs within the intervals. Finally, after the detected latency component, responses of segments are groupe and averaged, the shole corrected EP signal is obtained. In the experiments, the resutls of the conventional methods including simple averaging, Woody's method, and peak component latency corrected averaging are obtained, the results compared with the present method for evaluating performance. Therefore, the presented method confirms that it reflects the latency variations of fundamental peaks and gets the improved EP.

  • There have been continuous efforts for automation of joint tracking system. This automation process is mainly used to do in root pass of gas metal arc welding in the field of heavy industry and shipbuilding etc. For automation, it is important using of vision sensor. Welding robot with vision sensor is used for weld seam tracking on welding fabrication. Recently, it is used to on post-weld inspection for weld quality evaluation. For real time seam tracking, it is very important role in vision process technique. Vision process is included in filtering and thinning, segmentation processing, feature extraction and recognition. In this paper, it has shown performance comparison results of seam tracking for real time root pass on gas metal arc welding. It can be concluded better segment splitting method than iterative averaging technique in the performance results of seam tracking.

  • Experimental study was conducted to reveal the flow mechanism under rotating stall in an axial flow fan. For this study unsteady pressure was measured using high frequency pressure transducers mounted on the casing wall of rotor passage and total pressure fields were measured at the rotor upstream and downstream. The measured pressure signal was analyzed by Wavelet Transform and Double Phase Locked Averaging Technique. From the result of unsteady pressure field of the casing wall, one period of rotating stall was divided into three zones and the flow characteristics on each zone were described in detail. The pressure field was also analyzed in terms of the pressure distribution along pressure side and suction side of blade tip. From the result of total pressure fields at inlet and outlet of the rotor, the useful information on the characteristics of the stall cell in radial direction was provided.

  • Related to the error dynamics of an adaptive system, averaging theorems are developed for coupled differential equations which consist of ordinary differential equations and a parabolic partial differential equation. The results are then applied to the convergence analysis of the parameter estimate errors in the model reference adaptive control of a nonautonomous parabolic partial differential equation with lowly time-varying parameters.

  • This paper introduces a newly designed pendulum system that enables the more accurate boservation of dynamic behaviour arising from both horizontal and vertical(i.e. two dimension) excitation. First, experiments were carried out to examine the frequency responses of the devised pendulum system. Interestingly, experimental results for the three excitation angles of 22, 32 and 48 degree show 'new' jump phenomena. For the further understanding of these phenomena, experimental investigationhas been made to identify the equation of motion of the pendulum system from experimental data. This attempt has revealed that the viscous, coulomb and aerodynamic damping factors are involved in the equation of motion. By applying the Ritz averaging method to the equation, it becomes apparent that the jumping phenomena of the pendulum system in this work is more theoretically understood.

  • In this study an implicit algorithm for modeling of propagation of macrocracks in 3D concrete structures suffering from alkali-silica reaction has been developed and implemented. The formulation of the problem prior to the onset of localized deformation is based on a chemo-elasticity approach. The localized deformation mode, involving the formation of macrocracks, is described using a simplified form of the strong discontinuity approach (SDA) that employs a volume averaging technique enhanced by a numerical procedure for tracing the propagation path in 3D space. The latter incorporates a non-local smoothening algorithm. The formulation is illustrated by a number of numerical examples that examine the crack propagation pattern in both plain and reinforced concrete under different loading scenarios.

  • In current paper, nonlocal (NLT), nonlocal strain gradient (NSGT) and Gurtin-Murdoch surface/interface (GMSIT) theories with classical theory (CT) are utilized to investigate vibration and stability analysis of Double Walled Piezoelectric Nanosensor (DWPENS) based on cylindrical nanoshell. DWPENS simultaneously subjected to direct electrostatic voltage DC and harmonic excitations, structural damping, two piezoelectric layers and also nonlinear van der Waals force. For this purpose, Hamilton's principle, Galerkin technique, complex averaging and with arc-length continuation methods are used to analyze nonlinear behavior of DWPENS. For this work, three nonclassical theories compared with classical theory CT to investigate Dimensionless Natural Frequency (DNF), pull-in voltage, nonlinear frequency response and stability analysis of the DWPENS considering the nonlocal, material length scale, surface/interface (S/I) effects, electrostatic and harmonic excitation.

  • In this paper chaotic mothions of a straight pipe conveying oscillatory flow and being subjected to external forces such as earthquake are theoretically investigated. The nonlinear partial differential equation of motion is derived by Newton's method. In this equation, the nonlinear curvature of the pipe and the thermal expansion effects are contained. The nonlinear ordinary differential equation transformed from that partial differential equation is a type of Hill's equations, which have the parametric and external exciation term. This original system is transfered to the averaged system by the averaging theory. Bifurcation curves of chaotic motion of the piping system are obtained in the general case of the frequency ratio, n by applying Melnikov's method. Numerical simulations are performed to demonstrate theorectical results and show strange attactors of the chaotic motion.

  • In order to achieve systematical method for improving motion accuracy of hydrostatic table, an algorithm using finite element method is proposed in this paper. Quantification of averaging effect of oil film on motion error is performed theoretically by analysis on the relationship between spacial frequency of rail form error and motion error of table. Influences of film stiffness and pocket size on the motion error of table are also analyzed theoretically Validity of the algorithm is verified experimentally from the test on the motion error of table with three types of rail which have different form profile. Experimental results show that the algorithm is very effective to analyze theoretically the motion error of hydrostatic table.
