  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors influencing of separation and the time of separation for middle and old aged self-employed workers. The cox proportional hazards model was used in the first survey of KLoSA, 684 persons who were over 40 years old in 2006, using data up to the 5th period of 2014. The main findings of this study are as follows. First, the average duration of job for middle and old aged self-employed workers in 2005 was 15.5years. Of the total 684 workers, 214(31.3%) person was found to have lost their job during survey period. Second, gender, age at start up, and education level have significant effects on job separation of them. When women, when they were older at start up, when they were graduate the university or higher, increased their risk of leaving their businesses. Third, in the characteristic of their work, the type of job and job satisfaction were found to affect to job desertion. When people are engaged in accommodation and food business rather than agriculture and forestry fishery, when the satisfaction of the work is lower, the risk was high. Based on these conlusions, the following implications are suggested. First, it is necessary to establish a support strategy for female middle-aged and old self-employed and older workers who start their own business after their 60s. Second, it is necessary to support them to enter into various fields by utilizing their own aptitude and experience rather than establishing them in industries with low entry barriers. Third, it is necessary to develop policies to help improve job satisfaction in the working environment. In particular, it is necessary to ensure that high educated self-employed workers are satisfied with various compensations by self-employed.

  • As jobless growth became the new norm and the average life expectancy continues to increase, it is difficult to find quality jobs regardless of gender. In this situation, entrepreneurs who can take charge of creating quality jobs have begun to gain attention from governments. As a result, many startup support programs have been introduced and operated. In Korea, various government-sponsored startup support programs have been in operation since the late 2000s, and the number of startups has increased since. However, there are many cases where they are not able to maintain their business for a long time because such programs often lack expertise and experience. Mentoring programs for startup founders is becoming an attractive solution to these problems. However, when we look at the responses of entrepreneurs, they found the mentoring program beneficial only when it was well planned and operated. Otherwise, they found the program unhelpful. Although there are many startup mentoring programs in various fields, there is little research on whether customized mentoring that matches the characteristics of startups and entrepreneurs are effective. In this study, we study the effects of startup mentoring on mentoring satisfaction. Our model also intends to identify the moderating effects of entrepreneurs' characteristics and provide guidance to future startup mentoring.

  • Korea's average annual working hours are among the highest in the OECD. Such long-term work has been a factor that reduces the quality of life by discouraging workers' productivity and interrupting the compatibility of work and family, prompting the government to encourage flexible work systems, such as increasing part-time jobs, but a lack of quality part-time jobs. Part-time work enables flexible labor for workers, but at the same time, workers will involuntarily opt for part-time work as they have poor working conditions and negative social views. In this respect, the effect of the working type on an individual's life is expected to be different. In addition, for women, gender gaps exist in the labor market and the impact of part-time work on life satisfaction is expected to differ from men in terms of working and family alike. Using the data from the 2017 "Seoul Survey Urban Policy Indicator Survey", the ordered logistic regression model was used to analyze the cross-effect of working type and sex on satisfaction. The analysis of the study showed that when other factors were controlled, life satisfaction was high in the order of fulltime female, full-time male, part-time female, and part-time male. In addition, further analysis shows that the parttime female workers have the highest probability of choosing low life satisfaction, while the probability of choosing high life satisfaction is the lowest, and full-time male workers have the lowest probability of choosing low life satisfaction, while the highest probability of choosing high life satisfaction is the highest.

  • The efficiency of sewage treatment was analyzed by statistical method based on the water quality and operation data of the sewage treatment plant applying the oxidation method. The obtained water quality data were pH, temperature, BOD, SS, T-N, ${NH_4}^+-N$, and T-P of influent and discharge water. Data analysis was performed by correlation analysis, ANOVA analysis, and cluster analysis. As a result of the statistical analysis, the influent flow rate in the sewage treatment plant was the highest in summer. The average inflow flow rate was $3.000m^3/s$. According to Box plot results, COD, and T-P concentrations of effluents were not significantly different from season to season. The Pearson correlation analysis showed strong positive correlation between BOD, COD, T-N, and T-P in influent flow. Seasonal BOD and T-N concentrations were highest in winter and COD and T-P in seasonal influences. BOD showed a strong negative correlation with the water temperature, but showed a positive correlation with other operating factors such as HRT, SRT and C/N. The higher the influent temperature, the lower the BOD concentration. Therefore, retention time was shortened and BOD treatment efficiency was lowered. It was found that T-N had a higher retention time and a higher concentration than DO concentration. On the other hand, T-P did not show a significant correlation with operating factors.

  • This paper provides the numerical results for the self-propulsion performance in waves of a car ferry vessel with damage in one of its twin-screw propulsion systems without flooding the engine room. The numerical simulations were carried out according to the Safe Return to Port (SRtP) regulation made by the Lloyd's register, where the regulation requires that damaged passenger ships should have an ability to return to port with a speed of 6 knots in a Beaufort 8 sea condition. For the validation of the present numerical analysis study, the resistance performance and the self-propulsion performance of the car ferry in intact and damaged conditions in calm water were calculated, which showed a satisfactory agreement with the model test results of Korea Research Institute of Ship and Ocean engineering (KRISO). Finally, the numerical simulation of self-propulsion performance in waves of the damaged car ferry ship was carried out for a normal sea state and for a Beaufort 8 sea state, respectively. The estimated average Brake Horse Power (BHP) for keeping the damaged car ferry ship advancing at a speed of 6 knots in a Beaufort 8 sea state reached about 47% of BHP at MCR condition or about 56% of BHP at NCR condition of the engine determined at the design state. In conclusion, it can be noted that the engine power of the damaged car ferry ship in single propulsion condition is sufficient to satisfy the SRtP requirement.

  • The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the effects of job training program satisfaction on objective training performance such as employment rate. In addition, the NCS(National Competency Standards) level was considered as a moderating variable in order to clarify the boundary conditions between job training program satisfaction and employment rate. The data used for the analysis of the research model are 513 job training programs that provide employment rate information among job training programs of 2016 Gwangju area on HRD-Net. The results of the analysis are summarized as follows. First, The satisfaction score of the job training programs calculated on the basis of the six dimensions of satisfaction is 4.46. The NCS level of the job training programs ranged from 2 to 6. The average score of the programs was 3.32. Second, satisfaction with the job training programs has no statistically significant effect on the employment rate, but the NCS level of the job training programs was found to be statistically significant in the interaction effect. Finally, policy implications, limitations, and further research directions are mentioned through this study.

  • The yaw and interference effects of blades affect aerodynamic performance of large wind turbine system significantly, thus influencing wind-induced response and stability performance of the tower-blade system. In this study, the 5MW wind turbine which was developed by Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA) was chosen as the research object. Large eddy simulation on flow field and aerodynamics of its wind turbine system with different yaw angles($0^{\circ}$, $5^{\circ}$, $10^{\circ}$, $20^{\circ}$, $30^{\circ}$ and $45^{\circ}$) under the most unfavorable blade position was carried out. Results were compared with codes and measurement results at home and abroad, which verified validity of large eddy simulation. On this basis, effects of yaw angle on average wind pressure, fluctuating wind pressure, lift coefficient, resistance coefficient, streaming and wake characteristics on different interference zone of tower of wind turbine were analyzed. Next, the blade-cabin-tower-foundation integrated coupling model of the large wind turbine was constructed based on finite element method. Dynamic characteristics, wind-induced response and stability performance of the wind turbine structural system under different yaw angle were analyzed systematically. Research results demonstrate that with the increase of yaw angle, the maximum negative pressure and extreme negative pressure of the significant interference zone of the tower present a V-shaped variation trend, whereas the layer resistance coefficient increases gradually. By contrast, the maximum negative pressure, extreme negative pressure and layer resistance coefficient of the non-interference zone remain basically same. Effects of streaming and wake weaken gradually. When the yaw angle increases to $45^{\circ}$, aerodynamic force of the tower is close with that when there's no blade yaw and interference. As the height of significant interference zone increases, layer resistance coefficient decreases firstly and then increases under different yaw angles. Maximum means and mean square error (MSE) of radial displacement under different yaw angles all occur at circumferential $0^{\circ}$ and $180^{\circ}$ of the tower. The maximum bending moment at tower bottom is at circumferential $20^{\circ}$. When the yaw angle is $0^{\circ}$, the maximum downwind displacement responses of different blades are higher than 2.7 m. With the increase of yaw angle, MSEs of radial displacement at tower top, downwind displacement of blades, internal force at blade roots all decrease gradually, while the critical wind speed decreases firstly and then increases and finally decreases. The comprehensive analysis shows that the worst aerodynamic performance and wind-induced response of the wind turbine system are achieved when the yaw angle is $0^{\circ}$, whereas the worst stability performance and ultimate bearing capacity are achieved when the yaw angle is $45^{\circ}$.
