A study on water-based epoxy coated on mild steel using the electroplating method was conducted to optimize the process parameters for dry film thickness to achieve superior paint quality at optimal cost in an automotive plant. The regression model was used to adjust various parameters such as electrode voltage, bath temperature, processing time, non-volatile matter, and surface area to optimize the dry film thickness. The average dry film thickness computed using the model was in the range of 15 - 35 ㎛. The error in the computed dry film thickness with reference to the experimentally measured dry film thickness value was - 0.5809%, which was well within the acceptable limits of all paint shop standards. Our study showed that the dry film thickness on mild steel was more sensitive to electrode voltage and bath temperature than processing time. Further, the presence of non-volatile matter was found to have the maximum impact on dry film thickness.
An analytic approach has been employed to study condensate film thickness distribution inside cave-shaped cavity of a flat plate heat pipe. The results indicate that the condensate film thickness largely depends on mass flow rate and local velocity of condensate. The increasing rate of condensate film for circular region reveals about 50% higher value than that of vertical region. The physical properties of working fluid affect significantly the condensate film thickness, such as the condensate film thickness for the case of FC-40 are 5 times larger than that of water. In comparison with condensation on a vertical wall, the average heat transfer coefficient in the cave-shaped cavity presented 10∼15% lower values due to the fact that the average film thickness formed inside the cave-shaped cavity was larger than that of the vertical wall with an equivalent flow length. A correlation formula which is based on the condensate film analysis for the cave-shaped cavity to predict average heat transfer coefficient is presented. Also, the critical minimum fill charge ratio of working fluid based on condensate film analysis has been predicted, and the minimum fill charge ratios for FC-40 and water are about Ψ$\_$crit/=3∼7%, Ψ$\_$crit/=0.5∼1.3% respectively, in the range of heat flux q"=5∼90kW/㎡.

The real area of contacts, average film thickness, mean real pressure, and mean hydrodynamic pressure are investigated numerically in this study, especially for the parallel thrust bearing. Model surface is generated numerically with given autocorrelation function and some surface profile parameters. Then the average Reynolds equation contained flow factors and contact factor is applied to predict the effects of surface roughness in mixed lubrication regimes. In this equation, flow factors are defined as correction terms to smooth out high frequency surface roughness and contact factor is introduced to relieve from obtaining the average film thickness. Therefore the computation time to obtain h can be reduced.

We developed an Al sputtering process by varying the plasma power, process temperature, and film thickness. We observed an increase of hillock distribution and average diameter with increasing plasma power, process temperature, and film thickness. Since the roughness of a film increases with the increase of the distribution and average size of hillocks, the control of hillock formation is a key factor in the reduction of Al corrosion. We observed the lowest hillock formation at 30 W and $100^{\circ}C$. This growth characteristic of sputtered Al thin films will be useful for the reduction of Al corrosion in the future of the electronic packaging field.

This paper describes the variation of lubricant's temperature effects on elastohydrodynamic lubrication. The Newton-Raphson technique was used to solve the simultaneous system of Reynolds and elasticity equations. To show effects of lubricant's temperature, average temperature across the oil film was calculated using the energy equation. Pressure distribution, film shape, and temperature distribution were obtained for fully flooded conjunctions, and various dimensionless speed parameters while load and material parameters were held constant. Minimum film thickness were obtained for various material properties while load and velocity were held constant. It is drawn that the thermal effects have a strong influence on a minimum film thickness under high rolling velocity and slip ratio.
When the ${\gamma}-ray$ of average energy 375KeV emitted by Ir-192 is exposed to each film through lead foil with various thickness, the film sensitivity will be different according to the thickness of lead foil and film type. The results on the study, different density and sensitive ratio appeared depending on exposed time and film type, but was made on the following common points. 1. The effect of film sensitivity by the front lead foil showed rapid increase up to the thickness of more or less 0.03mm, and the thicker lead foil was decreased more in the thickness of about $0.05{\sim}0.09mm$. 2. The effect of film sensitivity by the back lead foil was increased up to around of $0.03{\sim}0.08mm$ thickness, the maximum sensitivity was obtained in the thickness of more than $0.03{\sim}0.08mm$ without any change in the above effect. 3. The sensitivity of front lead foil was higher than that of back lead foil in thin lead foil with about 0.127mm thickness, but the sensitivity of back lead foil was higher than that of front lead foil when thickness became thicker.
This paper reports on the theoretical analysis of mixed lubrication for the piston ring. The analytical model is presented by using the average flow and asperity contact model. The cyclic variations of the nominal minimum oil film thickness are obtained by numerical iterative method. The total friction is calculated by using the hydrodynamic and asperity contact theory. The effect of the roughness height, pattern, and engine speed on the nominal minimum film thickness, friction force, ad frictional power losses are investigated. As the roughness height increases, the nominal oil film thickness and total friction force increase. Also, the effect of the surface roughness on the boundary friction is dominant at low engine speed and high asperity height. The longitudinal roughness pattern shows lower mean oil film pressure and thinner oil film thickness compared to the case of the isotropic and transverse roughness patterns.

Approximately 30 to 70 % of the mechanical losses in a reciprocating engine are contributed by the friction at the piston ring-cylinder interface. The friction characteristics of the piston ring during engine operation is known to as mixed lubrication experimentally. The mixed lubrication models based on the Average Reynolds Equation have been used by this time in order to study the tribological performance of the ring. However, the Average Reynolds Equation contains the expected value term(${\bar{h}}_r$) of local film thickness as well as nominal film thickness(h), so that the work of numerically solving ${\bar{h}}_r$ must be included to obtain the pressure in the oil film. The process of solving ${\bar{h}}_T$ causes a greater multiplying in the numerical solution. In this paper the mixed lubrication analysis using the Simplified Average Reynolds Equation in the piston ring is presented. This equation has only h as oil film thickness term. Therefore the tedious numerical procedure required to obtain ${\bar{h}}_T$ is not needed, and also, computation time can be reduced.
In examinations of the stomach roentgenography, it is imperative to obtain adequate film density throughout all its different regions. Therefore, it is necessary to use more sophiscated exposure techniques. In order to achieve these purpose, the radiologic technologists must be measured abdominal thickness in variations with patient positions. In consideration of these problem, the author was made an experiment on correction method of kVp and mAs by abdominal thickness in roentgenography of the stomach. The results were summarized as follws: 1. When the patient in erect position, abdominal thickness was the most thickened at the level of 3cm inferior to umbilicus without regard to body habitus and it was the most thickened at the level of 3cm superior to umbilicus in prone and supine position. 2. As a result of measuring film density for stomach, the adequate film density was represented from 0.70 to 2.49 in erect position and $0.28{\sim}1.18$ in supine position, $0.5{\sim}2.45$ in prone position. 3. In order to obtain uniform film density in 1.25, the correction factor for kVp by abdominal thickness was represented average ${\pm}4.5kVp\;per\;{\pm}1cm$ in a fixed 50 mAs, and average ${\pm}3.9kVp\;per\;{\pm}1cm$ in a fixed 100mAs. 4. In order to obtain uniform film density in 1.25, the correction factor for mAs by abdominal thickness was represented average ${\pm}30.9%\;per\;{\pm}1cm$ in a fixed 80 kvp and ${\pm}26.9%\;per\;{\pm}1cm$ in a fixed 100kVp.
