In this paper, a method for estimating the illuminant chromaticity of a scene for an input image is proposed. The illuminant chromaticity is estimated using the illuminant reference region. The conventional method uses a certain number of reference lighting information. By comparing the chromaticity distribution of pixels from the input image with the chromaticity set prepared in advance for the reference illuminant, the reference illuminant with the largest overlapping area is regarded as the scene illuminant for the corresponding input image. In the process of calculating the overlapping area, the weights for each reference light were applied in the form of a Gaussian distribution, but a clear standard for the variance value could not be presented. The proposed method extracts an independent reference chromaticity region from a given reference illuminant, calculates the characteristic values in the r-g chromaticity plane of the RGB color coordinate system for all pixels of the input image, and then calculates the independent chromaticity region and features from the input image. The similarity is evaluated and the illuminant with the highest similarity was estimated as the illuminant chromaticity component of the image. The performance of the proposed method was evaluated using the database image and showed an average of about 60% improvement compared to the conventional basic method and showed an improvement performance of around 53% compared to the conventional Gaussian weight of 0.1.

Objective : Cubital tunnel syndrome, the most common ulnar nerve entrapment neuropathy, is usually managed by simple decompression or anterior transposition. One of the concerns in transposition is damage to the nerve branches around the elbow. In this study, the location of ulnar nerve branches to the flexor carpi ulnaris (FCU) was assessed during operations for cubital tunnel syndrome to provide information to reduce operation-related complications. Methods : A personal series (HJY) of cases operated for cubital tunnel syndrome was reviewed. Cases managed by transposition and location of branches to the FCU were selected for analysis. The function of the branches was confirmed by intraoperative nerve stimulation and the location of the branches was assessed by the distance from the center of medial epicondyle. Results : There was a total of 61 cases of cubital tunnel syndrome, among which 31 were treated by transposition. Twenty-one cases with information on the location of branches were analyzed. The average number of ulnar nerve branches around the elbow was 1.8 (0 to 3), only one case showed no branches. Most of the cases had one branch to the medial head, and one other to the lateral head of the FCU. There were two cases having branches without FCU responses (one branch in one case, three branches in another). The location of the branches to the medial head was 16.3±8.6 mm distal to the medial epicondyle (16 branches; range, 0 to 35 mm), to the lateral head was 19.5±9.5 mm distal to the medial epicondyle (19 branches; range, -5 to 30 mm). Branches without FCU responses were found from 20 mm proximal to the medial condyle to 15 mm distal to the medial epicondyle (five branches). Most of the branches to the medial head were 15 to 20 mm (50% of cases), and most to the lateral head were 15 to 25 mm (58% of cases). There were no cases of discernable weakness of the FCU after operation. Conclusion : In most cases of cubital tunnel syndrome, there are ulnar nerve branches around the elbow. Although there might be some cases with branches without FCU responses, most branches are to the FCU, and are to be saved. The operator should be watchful for branches about 15 to 25 mm distal to the medial epicondyle, where most branches come out.
The N-value from the Standard Penetration Test (SPT), which is one of the representative in-situ test, is an important index that provides basic geological information and the depth of the bearing layer for the design of geotechnical structures. In the aspect of time and cost-effectiveness, there is a need to carry out a representative sampling test. However, the various variability and uncertainty are existing in the soil layer, so it is difficult to grasp the characteristics of the entire field from the limited test results. Thus the spatial interpolation techniques such as Kriging and IDW (inverse distance weighted) have been used for predicting unknown point from existing data. Recently, in order to increase the accuracy of interpolation results, studies that combine the geotechnics and deep learning method have been conducted. In this study, based on the SPT results of about 22,000 holes of ground survey, a comparative study was conducted to predict the depth of the bearing layer using deep learning methods and IDW. The average error among the prediction results of the bearing layer of each analysis model was 3.01 m for IDW, 3.22 m and 2.46 m for fully connected network and PointNet, respectively. The standard deviation was 3.99 for IDW, 3.95 and 3.54 for fully connected network and PointNet. As a result, the point net deep learing algorithm showed improved results compared to IDW and other deep learning method.

Objective: To provide reliable prediction models based on dentoskeletal and soft tissue variables for customizing maxillary incisor positions and to optimize digitalized orthodontic treatment planning. Methods: This study included 244 Chinese women (age, 18-40 years old) with esthetic profiles after orthodontic treatment with fixed appliances (133 in group I: 1° ≤ The angle between the nasion [N]-A point [A] plane and the N-B point [B] plane [ANB] ≤ 4°; 111 in group II: 4° < ANB ≤ 7°). Dental, skeletal, and soft tissue measurements were performed on lateral cephalograms of the participants. Correlation and multiple linear regression analyses were used to determine the influence of dentoskeletal and soft tissue variables on maxillary incisor position. Results: The ideal anteroposterior position of the maxillary incisor varied between sagittal skeletal patterns. The position of the maxillary incisor correlated with the sagittal discrepancy between the maxilla and the mandible (ANB), protrusion of the midface, nasal tip projection, development of the chin, and inclination of both the maxillary and mandibular incisors. Distance from the maxillary central incisor to nasion-pogonion plane predicted using multiple linear regression analysis was accurate and could be a practical measurement in orthodontic treatment planning. Conclusions: Instead of using an average value or norm, orthodontists should customize a patient's ideal maxillary incisor position using dentoskeletal and soft tissue evaluations.

Stress concentrations around discontinuities, such as a hole in cross section of a structural member, have great importance because the most materials failure around the region may be occurred. Stress on the point applied by concentrated load reaches much larger value than the average stress in structural member. In this paper, stress analysis was performed for the plate with a partial through-hole to find the difference of the principal stress distribution. The difference between maximum principal stress and minimum principal stress in photoelasticity is equal to the value obtained by multiplying the isochromatic fringe order by the fringe constant of the material divided by the distance through which the light passes, that is, the thickness of the specimen. Since the difference of principal stress is proportional to the photoelastic fringe order, the distribution of the principal stress difference by the finite element analysis can be compared with the photoelasticity experimental result. ANSYS Workbench, that is the finite element software, is used to compute the differences of principal stresses at the specific points on the measured lines. The computation values obtained by ANSYS are compared with the experimental measurements by photoelasticity, and two results are comparable to each other. In addition, the stress concentration factor is obtained using the stress distribution analyzed from the variation of hole depth. Stress concentration factor is increasing, as the depth of hole increase.

Bikes have recently emerged as an alternative to carbon neutrality. To understand the demand for public bikes, we endeavored to estimate travel frequency of public bike by considering the intermediate stops. Using the GPS trajectory data of 'Ttareungyi', a public bike service in Seoul, we identified a stay point and estimated travel frequency reflecting population, land use, and physical characteristics. Application of map matching and a stay point detection algorithm revealed that stay point appeared in about 12.1% of the total trips. Compared to a trip without stay point, the trip with stay point has a longer average travel distance and travel time and a higher occurrence rate during off-peak hours. According to visualization analysis, the stay points are mainly found in parks, leisure facilities, and business facilities. To consider the stay point, the unit of analysis was set as a hexagonal grid rather than the existing rental station base. Travel frequency considering the stay point were analyzed using the Zero-Inflated Negative Binomial (ZINB) model. Results of our analysis revealed that the travel frequency were higher in bike infrastructure where the safety of bike users was secured, such as 'Bikepath' and 'Bike and pedestrian path'. Also, public bikes play a role as first & last mile means of access to public transportation. The measure of travel frequency was also observed to increase in life and employment centers. Considering the results of this analysis, securing safety facilities and space for users should be given priority when planning any additional expansion of bike infrastructure. Moreover, there is a necessity to establish a plan to supply bike infrastructure facilities linked to public transportation, especially the subway.
We investigated the possibility of a bio-monitoring system for detecting hypoxic water in coastal area using shell valve movements of Pacific oyster (Crassostrea gigas), which showed most aquaculture production in Korea, with Hall element sensor. In filtrating water to confirm shell valve movement (SVM) under normal condition, it showed spikes which mean a relatively fast closing condition after opened condition of average 5~12 mm, and then the SVM showed back to opening condition slower than closing speed SVM numbers during light period were similar to that of dark period (p<0.05). When dissolved oxygen (DO) concentration was reduced from 7 mg l-1 to 3 mg l-1, SVM numbers were increasing with decreasing of DO, and showed abnormality SVMs as compare with normal condition. Moreover, in the condition of 2 mg l-1, Distance between light and left shell showed gradually decreased, and then we could not detected SVMs due to closed condition. Thus, if we quickly detect abnormal environmental variations as hypoxia water using bio-monitoring of SVM, it may be contribute to increased productivity by dramatically reducing damages in aquaculture.

This paper proposes the methodology about advisory safety speed based on real-time vehicular data collected from highway. The proposed model is useful information to drivers by appling seamless wireless communication and being collected from ECU(Engine Control Unit) equipment in every vehicle. Furthermore, this model also permits the use of realtime sensing data like as adverse weather and road-surface data. Here, the advisory safety speed is defined "the safety speed for drivers considering the time-dependent traffic condition and road-surface state parameter at uniform section", and the advisory safety speed model is developed by considering the parameters: inter-vehicles safe stopping distance, statistical vehicle speed, and real-time road-surface data. This model is evaluated by using the simulation technique for exploring the relationships between advisory safety speed and the dependent parameters like as traffic parameters(smooth condition and traffic jam), incident parameters(no-accident and accident) and road-surface parameters(dry, wet, snow). A simulation's results based on 12 scenarios show significant relationships and trends between 3 parameters and advisory safety speed. This model suggests that the advisory safety speed has more higher than average travel speed and is changeable by changing real-time incident states and road-surface states. The purpose of the research is to prove the new safety related services which are applicable in SMART Highway as traffic and IT convergence technology.
CCTV is used for various purposes such as crime prevention, public safety reinforcement, and traffic management. However, as the range and resolution of the camera improve, there is a risk of exposing personal information in the video. Therefore, there is a need for new technologies that can identify individuals while protecting personal information in images. In this paper, we propose histogram-based singular value decomposition for object identification and tracking. The proposed method distinguishes different objects present in the image using color information of the object. For object recognition, YOLO and DeepSORT are used to detect and extract people present in the image. Color values are extracted with a black-and-white histogram using location information of the detected person. Singular value decomposition is used to extract and use only meaningful information among the extracted color values. When using singular value decomposition, the accuracy of object color extraction is increased by using the average of the upper singular value in the result. Color information extracted using singular value decomposition is compared with colors present in other images, and the same person present in different images is detected. Euclidean distance is used for color information comparison, and Top-N is used for accuracy evaluation. As a result of the evaluation, when detecting the same person using a black-and-white histogram and singular value decomposition, it recorded a maximum of 100% to a minimum of 74%.
In this study, the linear cutting tests of pick cutters were carried out on a granitic rock with the average compressive strength over 100 MPa. From the tests, the correlation between the cutter acting force and the temperature measured by infrared thermal imaging camera during rock cutting was analyzed. In every experimental condition, the maximum temperature was measured at the rock surface where the chipping occurred, and the temperature generated in the rock was closely correlated with the cutter acting force. On the other hand, the temperature of a pick cutter increased up to only 36℃ above the ambient temperature, and the correlation with the cutter force was not obvious. This can be attributed to the short cutting distance under laboratory conditions and the high thermal conductivity of the tungsten carbide inserts. However, the relatively high temperature of the tungsten carbide inserts was found to be maintained. Therefore, it is recommended that a reinforcement between the insert and the head of a pick cutter or the quality improvement of silvering brazing in the production of a cutter is necessary to maintain the high cutting performance of a pick cutter.
