Collision prevention education, which takes up the longest time among officer training courses, is one of the most important training and practice courses for trainees. The purpose of this study is to investigate the trainees' perception of collision risk in order to develop a systematic and quantified collision prevention training course. For this, factors for judging collision risk were derived from previous studies, and each trainee's perspective on collision risk was derived for each scenario through a questionnaire survey for trainees. Using the PARK Model, the same was compared with the collision risk perceived by the officer. Resultingly, it was found that trainees and of icers consider the distance to other ships the most important among collision risk factors. Additionally, although the risk trends of two groups for each scenario were similar, the average risk of trainees (5.39) was higher than that of officers (5.20). However, the trainees perceived a lower level of risk than the officers in certain scenarios, and this is judged to be the result of the trainees' lack of navigational experience. This study is expected to be used as basic data for the development of collision prevention practice education by quantitatively suggesting the difference between the collision risk of trainees and officers respectively.

The increase in the use time of tunnel users due to the lengthening of the road tunnel may increase the evacuation time in case of fire, resulting in a large number of casualties. In order to reduce the casualties caused by fire, the "Road Tunnel Design Manual, Part 6 Tunnel" and "Road Tunnel Disaster Prevention Facility Installation and Management Guidelines" stipulate that ventilation facilities should be installed along with the extension of the tunnel. The ventilation system design factor considers the wind speed of the external natural wind to be at least 2.5 m/s, and it is applied upward according to the characteristics of the tunnel. As a result of analyzing the five-minute average wind speed data in the Daegwallyeong region for the past 6 years, it was analyzed that 15.8% of the windy days were winds of 10 m/s or more, and the maximum was 20 m/s. Therefore, in this study, when a fire occurs in a tunnel, the pattern of natural wind flowing into the tunnel and the backlayering distance of the tunnel fire smoke according to the maximum wind speed were analyzed. As a result, it was analyzed that a backflow of up to 490 m occurs when a gust of 20 m/s blows.
Background: As trade increases, the influx of various alien species and their spread to new regions are prevalent and no longer a special problem. Anthropogenic activities and climate changes have made the distribution of alien species out of their native range common. As a result, alien species can be easily found anywhere, and they have nothing but only a few differences in intensity. The prevalent distribution of alien species adversely affects the ecosystem, and a strategic management plan must be established to control them effectively. To this end, hot spots and cold spots were analyzed according to the degree of distribution of invasive alien plants, and major environmental factors related to hot spots were found. We analyzed the 10,287 distribution points of 126 species of alien plants collected through the national survey of alien species by the hierarchical model of species communities (HMSC) framework. Results: The explanatory and fourfold cross-validation predictive power of the model were 0.91 and 0.75 as AUC values, respectively. The hot spots of invasive plants were found in the Seoul metropolitan area, Daegu metropolitan city, Chungcheongbuk-do Province, southwest shore, and Jeju island. Generally, the hot spots were found where the higher maximum temperature of summer, precipitation of winter, and road density are observed, but temperature seasonality, annual temperature range, precipitation of the summer, and distance to river and sea were negatively related to the hot spots. According to the model, the functional traits accounted for 55% of the variance explained by the environmental factors. The species with higher specific leaf areas were more found where temperature seasonality was low. Taller species preferred the bigger annual temperature range. The heavier seed mass was only preferred when the max temperature of summer exceeded 29 ℃. Conclusions: In this study, hot spots were places where 2.1 times more alien plants were distributed on average than non-hot spots (33.5 vs 15.7 species). The hot spots of invasive plants were expected to appear in less stressful climate conditions, such as low fluctuation of temperature and precipitation. Also, the disturbance by anthropogenic factors or water flow had positive influences on the hot spots. These results were consistent with the previous reports about the ruderal or competitive strategies of invasive plants instead of the stress-tolerant strategy. The functional traits are closely related to the ecological strategies of plants by shaping the response of species to various environmental filters, and our result confirmed this. Therefore, in order to effectively control alien plants, it is judged that the occurrence of disturbed sites in which alien plants can grow in large quantities is minimized, and the river management of waterfronts is required.
The appearance of larvae of a rare species, Peristedion liorhynchus, in Korean waters is suggestive of spawning or adult intrusion. We conducted high-throughput sequencing (HTS) on 31,776 pelagic fish eggs collected from 123 stations off the Korean Peninsula during May to August in 2013, 2014 and 2017. A total of 21,621,874 HTS reads were mapped onto the P. liorhynchus COX1 reference sequence. Three consensus sequences (313 bp) were constructed from the three samples, respectively, off Uljin and Goeje Islands in May and off Ulsan in July. These samples were formed a clade with P. liorhynchus in the maximum likelihood tree of Peristedion. The average genetic distance within the P. liorhynchus clade (0.0054±0.0046) was less than that among clades (0.1475±0.0396). The results indicate that the HTS analysis of mixed fish eggs is useful for monitoring the intrusion of rare species such as P. liorhynchus in Korean waters.
Purpose: The objective of this study was to determine the effects of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) on the volume of trauma patients, the number of orthopedic trauma operations, and the severity of injuries. We also investigated the correlations between social distancing and these variables. Methods: This was a retrospective review of trauma patient cases at a single focused training center for trauma in Korea from January 2017 to April 2021. The COVID-19 group included patients treated from January 1 to April 30 in 2020 and 2021, and the control group included patients treated during the same months from 2017 to 2019. The volume of trauma patients according to the level of social distancing was evaluated among patients treated from August 2, 2020 to November 23, 2020. Results: The study included 3,032 patients who presented to the emergency department with traumatic injuries from January to April 2017 to 2021. The average number of patients was 646.7 and 546.0 in the control and COVID-19 groups, respectively. The percentage of patients injured in traffic accidents (TAs) decreased from 25.0% to 18.2% (P<0.0001). The proportions of in-car TAs and pedestrian TAs also decreased from 6.7% and 10.8% to 3.5% and 6.0%, respectively (P=0.0002 and P<0.0001). The percentage of bicycle TAs increased from 2.4% to 4.0% (P=0.0128). The proportion of patients with an Injury Severity Score above 15 and the mortality rate did not change significantly. As the level of social distancing increased, the number of trauma patients and the number of trauma injuries from TAs decreased. The number of orthopedic trauma operations also depended on the social distancing level. Conclusions: The number of trauma patients presenting to the emergency department decreased during the COVID-19 period. The volume of trauma patients and orthopedic trauma operations decreased as the social distance level increased.

In this study, we tried to confirm whether the mechanical sequential elevation method of the body pressure measuring bed actually induces segmental motion for each part of the spine. To this end, a lateral X-ray examination was performed, and it was confirmed that the sequential pressure device induces a step-wise segmentation of the spine by mechanically lifting each part of the spine vertically. Then, pain, walking ability, and depression scale were measured and analyzed in subjects who were aware of back pain. VAS(p<0.05) and ODI(p<0.05) for 10 days tended to decrease in average after bed use. In the gait ability test(p<0.05), as the number of times of bed use increased, the moving time in the test decreased and the moving distance increased. In addition, GSDDF(p<0.05) decreased after bed use. As a result, it was confirmed that the spinal segmentation caused by the heat and acupressure provided by the bed affected gait and depression as well as pain relief.

The purpose of this study was to confirm the reduction of pain and symptom relief of Parkinson's disease by vertically stimulating the spine through the application of a mechanical bed capable of thermal and massage stimulation. For this purpose, after confirming the segmental motion of the spine due to the use of a medical combination stimulation bed for Parkinson's disease patients, VAS, ODI, gait ability, and spiral drawing tests were performed, and the relationship between the variables was identified. In the 10-day visual analog scale and evaluation of low back pain dysfunction, the average trend of decreasing after bed use was confirmed. For walking ability, a decrease in the moving time and an increase in the moving distance were observed. In the spiral drawing test, the mean test time after using bed was significantly lower than before. As a result, it suggested the possibility of using it as an auxiliary method for recovery and pain relief of Parkinson's disease patients due to spinal segmental movement with mechanical heating and massage. However, this study is a preliminary study, and there is a small number of subjects, so additional research is needed that considers the number and condition of future subjects in detail.

Portable and vehicle thermal fogs were tested using etofenprox, bifenthrin, and deltamethrin diluted with diesel oil, kerosene, and water against domestic vector mosquitoes, Aedes albopictus, Anopheles sinensis s.l., Culex pipiens, and Culex tritaeniorhynchus. The female mosquitoes were confined in small cages suspended on poles at progressively greater distances from the fog release point at an open field. The average mortality rates of four vector mosquitoes to the three insecticides were 52.0% and 64.0% at a portable thermal fogs diluted with diesel oil and water within a 10 m distance, respectively. A vehicle thermal fog had a mean mortality of 34.8% of the females to the insecticides diluted with diesel oil within 50 m. The mortality rates were not significantly different among all the tested distances. At a dilution solvent test, the mortality of the females to the insecticides diluted with kerosene was 1.9 times higher than that of diesel oil.

Recently, as underground facilities buried under roads in Korea are aging, the amount of underground facility maintenance work is rapidly increasing. For the maintenance and management of such underground facilities, the cutting work of the road pavement should be preceded. However, the conventional road pavement cutters used in Korea are not eco-friendly, and the reality is that they generate a lot of noise and cutting sludge (scattering dust). Therefore, in this study, the concept of the cutting sludge recovery device was derived, and an eco-friendly pavement cutter including this function was designed and manufactured. The developed equipment took about 20 to 30 seconds to cut 1m to a depth of 100 to 150mm. Also, the sludge suction performance was good in most sections, and the noise level of the equipment briefly measured at a distance of 2m was 82.7dB on average. However, due to the limitation that the developed equipment was at the level of the first prototype, the driving stability was somewhat low, and equipment abnormalities such as engine shutdown and sludge recovery performance decreased in some cases. The cutting performance and sludge recovery function will be more stable through tuning and improvement of the developed prototype in the future. In addition, we plan to quantitatively compare and analyze productivity by applying the improved prototype to actual field conditions.

This study uses the 'S-align' function to present a reference value of the X-ray tube angle for the realization of an image similar to that of the chest PA image during chest AP radiography. This study targeted dummy phantom and used a 17"×17" DR image receptor. The irradiation conditions were 110 kVp, 160 mA, 50 ms, and the distance between the central X-ray and the image receptor was set to 180 cm and 110 cm, respectively. The end of the catheter was placed at the 11th thoracic height to indicate the nasogastric tube. In the case of lung apex length measurement, the mean value of measurement was 30.53±0.47 in PA. T 0°, TCA 5~25°, TCE 5~15° were 21.07±0.29, 27.60±0.21, 34.13±0.44, 39.86±0.31, 45.96±0.61 mm, 54.13±0.37 mm, 16.16±0.46 mm, 9.81±0.35 mm, 2.75±0.30 mm, respectively. For the depth of the catheter end, the average value measured at PA was 6.70±0.31 mm. T 0°, TCA 5~25°, TCE 5~15° were 15.72±0.38 mm, 24.10±0.50 mm, 29.24±0.86 mm, 34.35±0.35 mm, 41.06±1.08 mm, 48.07±0.38 mm, 12.85±0.25 mm, 7.92±0.36 mm, 3.01±0.39 mm, respectively. The length of the lung apex was similar to that of chest PA when the angle of incidence was adjusted from 5° to 10° in the leg direction, and the depth of the catheter tip was most similar when the X-ray tube angle was incident at 10° in the head direction. Therefore, To change the X-ray tube angle according to the purpose of the examination during the chest AP radiography using 'S-align' function is considered necessary.
