  • In, this paper, we consider the relation between on-line monitoring and diagnostics on the one hand and high-voltage (HV) withstand and partial discharge (PO) on-site testing on the other. HV testing supplies the basic data (fingerprints) for diagnostics. In case of warnings by on-line diagnostic systems, off-line withstand and PO testing delivers the best possible information about defects and enables the classification of the risk. Because alternating voltage (AC) is the most important test voltage, the AC generation on site is considered. Frequency tuned resonant (ACRF) test systems are best adapted to on-site conditions. They can be simply combined with PO measuring equipment. The available ACRF test systems and their application to electric power equipment -from cable systems to power transformers - is described.

  • It is essential to analyze structural vibrations due to turbulent wall pressure fluctuations over a body surface which moves through a fluid, because the vibrations can be a severe source of noise affecting to passengers in airplanes and SONAR performance. Generally, this kind of problems have been solved for very simplified models, e.g. plates, which can be applied to the wavenumber domain analysis. In this paper, a finite element modeling of the walt pressure fluctuations is investigated, which can be applied to those over arbitrary smooth surfaces. It is found that the modeled wall pressure fluctuation at nodes becomes uncorrelated at higher frequencies and at lower flow speeds, and the response is over-estimated due to the aliased power. Then the frequency range available for uncorrelated loading model and two power correction schemes are presented.

  • It is expected that fully-implantable middle-ear hearing devices (FIMEHDs) will soon be available with the advantages of complete concealment, easy surgical implantation, and low power operation to resolve the problems of semi-implantable middle-ear hearing devices (SIMEHDs) such as discomfort of wearing an external device and replacement of battery. Over the last 3 years, a Korean research team at Kyungpook National University has developed an FIMEHD called ACRHS-1 based on a differential floating mass transducer (DFMT). The main research focus was functional improvement, the establishment of easy surgical procedures for implantation, miniaturization, and a low-power operation. Accordingly, this paper reviews the overall system architecture, functions, and experimental results for ACRHS-1 and its related accessories, including a wireless battery charger and remote controller.

  • The purpose of the present paper is to study the bending and free vibration of Functionally Graded Material (FGM) plate using user-defined material subroutine on the finite element software ABAQUS. The FGM plate is simply supported and subjected to sinusoidal and uniform load. The Poisson's ratio is kept constant. The results obtained compared to those available in the literature show the convergence, the exactitude and the efficiency of the method used with various power index of the materials.

  • The safety related heat exchangers have been evaluated for their performance during the operation of the nuclear power plant. The evaluation program for the safety related heat exchanger was developed in 2010 and used by KHNP based on EPRI TR-10739 algorithms. The spend fuel pool heat exchanger is one of the safety related heat exchanger in the nuclear power plant and also evaluated for their performance. Recently the performance evaluation for the spend fuel pool heat exchanger was not available because of the decreased heat in the spend fuel pool due to the long term overhaul. This paper analyzes the main cause of evaluation failure in the evaluation process and suggests the criteria for the heat exchanger performance evaluation during the long term overhaul.

  • Today, energy problem has become an important issue, and a development of renewable energy is urgent. In architectural fields, a research of the energy efficient lighting system using renewable energy is in progress. The energy efficient lighting system could be realized by integrating a daylight responsive LED lighting control system and a blind PV system. This system is able to save and generate electric energy. Efficiency of this system depends on control methods of blind PV. As a preliminary research, this research analyzed power generation and inflow of available daylight according to control method of blind PV.

  • Brushless DC motors have trapezoidal back-EMF waveform. Theoretically it should be fed with rectangular phase current in order to produce torque ripple free. Because it is drived by a voltage source inverter, perfect rectangular phase current can not available and therefore produce torque ripple. In this paper, the torque ripple due to commutation is analyzed and the practical method that can reduce the torque ripple is proposed. Experimental and simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • This paper provides the analysis of the differential amplifier using the insulated gate, metala-oxide-semiconductor type field-effect-transistor(MOS FET), for its active element and the power drift of the amplifer. From these analytical considerations some design standardsn were found for the MOS FET differential amplifier available for the measurement of the very small current (pico-ampare range). A differential amplifier was designed and built in the view of above considerations. Its equivalent input gate voltages of the thermal drift and the power drift were 0.57mV/.deg. C in the range 25.deg. C-60.deg. C and 8.8mV/V in the range of 20% drift of its orginal value, respectively.

  • 분산 송전송실정보에 의한 전력시스템의 경제운용=The transmission loss information produced in a line may be shared by both end buses connected to the line. Then, the loss may be seen as if it is discretely produced at both buses. Likewise, all transmission losses can be considered as if they are discretely produced at every bus distributed. The bus transmission loss equation can be defined, in which the loss information about connected lines are contained. This formulation can greatly enhance the computational efficiency for the economic control of both real powers and voltages. It requires solutions of two linear matrix equations, one for the calculation of incremental transmission losses and the other for the determination of voltage levels to be controlled. The Proposed approach is demonstrated through three sample systems and it is found that the solutions can be obtained after three iterations regardless of system sizes. This implies that only one-step search would be required for the solution if real informations would be available. Results are compared with those of optimal power flows.
