  • In this paper, we designed bluetooth module using 2.4 GHz ISM band. Bluetooth is wireless networking solution that connects PDA, cellular phone, printer, PC, etc each other. We integrated digital and RF part in one module. As a result, we can make low power consumption module that enables long battery life. In addition, we enlarged maximum available range of our module from 10m to l00m. This module satisfies bluetooth specification 1.0.

  • High current density Bi-2223 tapes have recently become commercially available. The ac loss is an important issue in the design of high-T$_{c}$ superconducting power cables. In such complicated devices, special caution is required in the placing of voltage leads for measuring the in-phase voltage. In this paper, the ac losses for different contacts and arrangements of voltage leads have been experimentally investigated in a single layer model cable and discussed.d.

  • The generic analysis method for core flow instability is suggested to confirm that the core flow instability would not occur on PWR conditions. For the confirmation, the stability criteria of each fuel type are provided. Instability investigations in various accident conditions prove that the locked rotor accident is the most limiting case to instability. Parametric Effects are surveyed and in good agreement with available studies. The effects of heat flux distribution become negligible as the subcooling number is decreased. The power margin to instability is calculated quantitatively in various accident conditions.

  • A passive power converter operating on the principle of parametric excitation, called Parametric transformer, is analyzed. The energy transfer from the input to the output is achieved through the double frequency variation of magnetic path reluctance to the input frequency without mutual flux coupling between two windings. Thus, output becomes available which is essentially independant of waveform of excitation. The mathmatical model of the device is developed and its solution is obtained. The outstanding characteristics of the device is explained from the analysis.

  • Soft switching was applied to the multi-level inverter to enhance the performance of the high-intensity discharge (HID) ballast used in vehicle headlights. The electrical properties were investigated and the available modeling of ballast in steady state was calculated using mathematical methods. The result was used in analyzing the power characteristics. The modeling was confirmed by the experiment.

The latest installations are based on fixed generator speed and motor speed control.   • In balanced design of experiment sample size is determined to detect a certain standardized size of effect with power 1-$\beta$ at the level of significance $\alpha$. Tables (Marvin, et al (1970) and Lorenzen and Anderson(1993) and charts (Odeh and Fox(1991)) are available to determine the sample size in balanced design of experiments. To simplify those tables and charts simple MATLAB program is used to find the minimal standardized detectable difference $\delta$ when $\alpha , \beta$ and sample size are given.

  • The implementation of the compact gearless elevator system with Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor is presented. For the purpose of the voltage suppression in the motor input side, the LRC filter is used. The automatic encoder alignment algorithm with rotor pole position is developed, and it is available in the full range of the load. The implemented system makes 11% energy savings comparing the system with the induction motor.

  • The study of confined liquid crystals flourished in the decade of the nineties. Liquid crystals properties have been probed after confinement in well-defined or interconnected geometries as those available in porous media and in polymer networks. In this work we emphasized the power of the nuclear magnetic resonance technique to determine the confined liquid crystal structures. We also present unexpected results on the dependence of the confined liquid crystal configuration on the chain length.

  • This paper describes design procedure of suboptimal control to minimize a performance index which is represented as sum of square output error and the heat input power in arc welding process. Heat input and temperature of a fixed point on the surface of the material are concerned as input and output of the process, repectively. The suboptimal control law considered here in is a proportional plus integral type and is implemented by using only the output variables available from sensor which is also optimally located in a fixed point w.r.t. a moving weld touch.
