Moving Stereo Vision-based Motion Plan by Recognizing the Obstacle Height for Intelligent Mobile Robot

  • This paper describes the path planning of an autonomous mobile robot using one camera-based sequence image processing. As an assumption, all objects in front of the mobile robot are located on the same plane where robot moves. Using the moving camera grounded on the autonomous mobile robot, the robot extracts the angular points of obstacle objects, calculates the height using the assumption and discrepancy between two consecutive images. In the image processing, angular points of objects must correspond so that they deliver the size of objects.   • In this study, the concept of autonomous mobility is applied to a gait support mobile robot. The aim of the development of the service robot is to assist the elderly with gait rehabilitation. This study proposes an ergonomic service robot design parameter. The gait assistant path pattern is derived from analysis of the elderly gait. A lever is installed in the AMR in order to measure both the pulling force and the leading force of the elderly. The path generation of the mobile robot is developed through consideration and analysis of elderly gait patterns. The ergonomic design parameters (dimensions, action scope and working space) are determined based on moving scope of the elderly. The gait assistant mobile robot was offered the elderly guide service and internet service based on the ergonomic design parameters.

  • This paper describes a hardware structure and a communication system of a multiple autonomous robots system. Many studies have been devoted to the development of a single autonomous robot. It is, however, also necessary to investigate decentralized multiple autonomous robots system in order to make wider use of such robots. We have been studying a multiple autonomous robots system employing two mobile robots. In this paper, problems are overviewed on the developed multiple autonomous robots system from the viewpoint of hardware and communication, and an improved system is presented, which employs a new control strategy of a mobile robot and realizes reliable data communication between host computers.

  • With the development of techniques, robots are getting smaller, and the number of robots needed for application is greater and greater. How to coordinate large number of autonomous robots through local interactions has becoming an important research issue in robot community. Swarm Robot Systems (SRS) is a system that independent autonomous robots in the restricted environments infer their status from pre-assigned conditions and operate their jobs through the cooperation with each other. In the SRS, a robot contains sensor part to percept the situation around them, communication part to exchange information, and actuator part to do a work. Especially, in order to cooperate with other robots, communicating with other robots is one of the essential elements. Because Bluetooth has many advantages such as low power consumption, small size module package, and various standard protocols, it is rated as one of the efficient communicating technologies which can apply to small-sized robot system. In this paper, we will develop Bluetooth communicating system for autonomous robots. And we will discuss how to construct and what kind of procedure to develop the communicating system for group behavior of the SRS under intelligent space.

수중 초음파 거리 센서를 이용한 수중 로봇의 2차원 지도 확장 실험 (Experimental Result on Map Expansion of Underwater Robot Using Acoustic Range Sonar)

  • This study focuses on autonomous exploration based on map expansion for an underwater robot equipped with acoustic sonars. Map expansion is applicable to large-area mapping, but it may affect localization accuracy. Thus, as the key contribution of this paper, we propose a method for underwater autonomous exploration wherein the robot determines the trade-off between map expansion ratio and position accuracy, selects which of the two has higher priority, and then moves to a mission step. An occupancy grid map is synthesized by utilizing the measurements of an acoustic range sonar that determines the probability of occupancy. This information is then used to determine a path to the frontier, which becomes the new search point. During area searching and map building, the robot revisits artificial landmarks to improve its position accuracy as based on imaging sonar-based recognition and EKF-SLAM if the position accuracy is above the predetermined threshold. Additionally, real-time experiments were conducted by using an underwater robot, yShark, to validate the proposed method, and the analysis of the results is discussed herein.

라이다 센서 기반 소형 자율주행 로봇의 지하광산 현장실험 (Field Experiment of a LiDAR Sensor-based Small Autonomous Driving Robot in an Underground Mine)

  • 본 연구에서는 라이다 센서를 활용한 지하광산용 소형 자율주행 로봇을 개발하였다. 개발된 로봇은 라이다 센서를 사용하여 좌, 우 벽면까지의 거리를 측정하고, 지하광산 갱도의 중앙선을 따라 이동하도록 조향을 자동 제어한다. 개발된 로봇의 주행성능을 테스트하기 위해 지하 자수정광산에서 현장실험 수행하였다. 5번의 반복 실험에서 로봇은 전체적으로 안정적인 주행성능을 보여주었다. 광산 갱도 벽면과의 충돌 사고도 발생하지 않았다.

비전과 후각 센서를 이용한 이동로봇의 냄새 발생지 추적 (Odor Source Tracking of Mobile Robot with Vision and Odor Sensors)

  • 본 논문에서는 비전 시스템과 후각 센서를 이용하여 자율주행 이동로봇에 냄새 발생지 추적을 위한 기능을 구현하였다. 초기에 로봇에 부착된 후각 센서가 냄새를 탐지하지 못한 경우에는 비전 시스템을 이용하여 특정 지역 내를 운행을 하다가 시계 내의 한 물체에 접근하여 냄새를 방출하고 있는 지를 검사하게 된다. 만일 냄새를 방출하고 있다면 신경회로망을 이용한 냄새 구별 알고리즘을 이용하여 그 냄새가 찾고자 하는 것인지를 확인하게 된다. 실험을 위해 AMOR(Autonomous Mobile Olfactory Robot) 로봇을 구현하여 사용하였으며, 실험결과는 제안된 알고리즘이 냄새 발생지를 찾고 냄새를 구별해 내는데 효율성이 있음을 보여준다.
