  • Inside keys for the automobiles are the keys whose key teeth are engraved on the inside of the keys. These types of the keys are very effective in prohibiting making the copies of the keys for the criminal purposes and have excellent mechanical strenth comparing with the ordinary types of the keys. In this paper, a development of the control system for the milling machine which is used for cutting the teeth of the inside keys. This machine is controlled by a computer and the cutting is done automatically according to the key codes which are contained in the key code file. This work is presented to show an example of the industry-university cooperation.

The Combustion and Exhasut Emission Characteristics on the Low-temperature Combustion of Biodiesel Fuel in a DI Diesel Engine

  • The objective of this study is to investigate the effects of low-temperature combustion (LTC) on the correlations of combustion characteristics and reduction of exhaust emissions in a small DI diesel engine with biodiesel fuel. In order to analyze the combustion, exhaust emission characteristics and distribution of nano size particles for biodiesel were investigated. In addition, to evaluate the effect of LTC on the combustion and emission characteristics, 30 and 50% of cooled-EGR rates were investigated. From these results, it revealed that the influence of LTC on the combustion characteristics showed that the ignition delay significantly increased and reduces peak heat release rate of premixed combustion by lowering reaction rate. With 50% EGR and advanced injection timing, soot and $NO_x$ emissions were simultaneously reduced.

The Experimental Study on the Low-temperature Combustion Characteristics of DME Fuel in a Compression Ignition Engine

  • The aim of this work is to investigate the combustion and exhaust emission characteristics of low-temperature combustion (LTC) at various EGR test conditions using a single cylinder common-rail diesel engine. In high EGR rate combustion mode with DME fuel, 30% (${\Phi}=0.61$) and 50% (${\Phi}=0.86$) of EGR were respectively examined, and then the combustion, exhaust emissions, nano-particle characteristics of each cases were measured. From these results, it revealed that The ignition delay and combustion duration are prolonged as the increase of EGR rate. In addition, at an advanced injection timing (BTDC $30^{\circ}$), ignition delays were fairly increased because the dilution effect of EGR and also low charge in-cylinder temperature created a lean mixture, thus decreased the peak release rate.

  • This study carried out experimental on the cooling characteristics of clathrate compound including TMA(Tri-Methyl-Amine ; $(CH_3)_3N$) as a low temperature latent heat storage material. And additive was used for subcooling improvement of TMA-water clathrate compound. The conclusion of above study is as following ; TMA 25wt%-water clathrate compound is shown stable phase change and low subcooling degree. The subcooling was improved in the case ethanol($CH_3CH_2OH$) 0.5wt% is added to TMA 25wt%-water clathrate compound.

홀센서를 이용한 파워 윈도우용 안티핀치 시스템 (Anti-Pinch System for Power Window by Using Hall Sensor)

  • Recently the power window system is widely used in automobiles to increase convenience of passengers and drivers. However some accidents or injuries have been caused by malfunction or misusage of the system. Therefore safety regulations of the system to cope up with these accidents have been strengthened gradually in many countries. Especially in America, since 2005, all vehicles which had power window system should be contented with FMVSS 118-S5 regulations. We suggest very low-cost anti-pinch window control system satisfying the regulation in this paper. Hall sensors are used and installed around a motor rotor with ring magnet to detect motor speed for anti-pinch. The optimum number of hall sensor and location angel of them are mainly investigated to get sufficient speed resolution for anti-pinch. Through some experiments, the validity of the suggested system was verified to satisfy the regulation.

  • In these days it is important to secure the life and stability of the structure such as aircrafts, automobiles and building. So the structural health monitoring is needed. In conventional lamb wave techniques, damage is identified by comparing the measured data (baseline signals) and the current data. But this method can lead to high false signal in the intact condition of the structure due to environmental conditions of the structure. As a solution to resolve it, the structural health monitoring method which doesn't use baseline signals is necessary. Damaged structure has unusual elastic wave. This paper proposed a PC(pitch-catch) method which doesn't use baseline signal. New baseline signals can get from detection signal. Damage signals based on new baseline signals. This paper made an image includes damage information by applying damage-signals to beamformming.

  • The applications of the aluminum alloy sheets to the auto-body panels are dramatically increasing for weight reduction of the automobiles. However, low formability of the aluminum alloy sheet compare to the steel sheet can be obstacles in tool manufacturing process. Therefore, much of yield criteria for the anisotropic material such as the aluminum alloy sheet have been observed. In this study, the biaxial tensile test and FLD test for the aluminum alloy sheet are performed. The results are compared with Hill's 1948 and Hill's 1990 model by means of theoretical predictions. Finite element analysis also performed using the proposed method for the real panel.

  • In an attempt to optimize friction spot joining process of Al alloys for automobiles, effects of joining parameters such as tool rotating speed, plunging depth, and joining time on the joints properties were investigated. A wide range of joining conditions could be applied to join Al alloys for automobile without defects in the weld zone except for certain welding conditions with a lower heat input. For sound joints without defects, tensile shear strength of joints was higher than acceptable criteria of tensile shear strength of resistance spot welded joints for aluminum.

  • Almost every die fur automobiles must be corrected or remodeled for minor geometrical changes or for better hardness characteristics by arc welding process. Although many other kinds of arc welding processes have been automated with robots, this molten metal deposition process for die remodeling still depend entirely on experienced welders. In this study, the database for bead shapes with respect to welding parameters are constructed by experiments to automate the molten metal deposition by arc welding process. And the changes of welding parameters for inclined base metal are studied to consider the effect of die geometries fur the welding process.

  • To evaluate the applicability of dissimilar metal friction stir welding in automobile manufacturing process, friction stir welding trials were carried out for typical 5000 and 6000 series aluminum alloy sheets with 2mm thickness. The sound joints of A15052 and A16061-T6 alloys were successfully formed under a wide range of welding condition. Excellent weld ability has been obtained at a condition of rotating speed 2000rpm and travel speed 100mm/min, while a radiographic test also confirmed defect free joint for this condition. Through the Erichsen cup test, the plastic formability of the FSWelded joints was found to be about 83% of base metal.
