섬유강화 복합재료와 자동차 (Composite applications to automobiles)

  • 현재 자동차용 복합재료를 생산하는데 유리한 제조방법으로는 압축성형 (Compression Molding), 액상성형(Liquid Molding), 인발성형(Pultrusion), 필라멘트 와인딩성형(Filament Winding)등이 있다. 압축성형은 현재 자동차 외장부품 성형에 널리 알려져 있는 SMC(Sheet Molding Compound)성형, 최근에 많은 연구가 되고 있는 LMPC(Low Pressure Molding Compound)성형, GMT(Glass Mat Reinforced Thermoplastics)성형 등이 있다. 액상성형은 RTM(Resin Transfer Molding)과 VARI (Vacuum Assisted Injection Molding), SRIM(Structure Reaction Injection Molding) 등이 있으며, 자동차 산업뿐만 아니라 일반 산업에서도 최근 많은 각광을 받고 있다. 그러므로 본 소고에서는 자동차용 복합재료의 제조에 널리 사용되는 성형공정에 대하여 간단히 살펴보고, 자동차 부품에 있어서의 복합재료 응용 현장과 최근 환경문제가 대두되면서 관심의 초점이 되고 있는 자동차용 복합재료 재활용 기술에 대하여 고찰하고자 한다.

디젤기관의 대체연료로서 미장유의 특성 연구(I) (A Study on Characteristics of Rice Bran Oil as an Alternative Fuel in Diesel Engine(I))

  • Lately, our world is faced with very serious problems related to the increased air pollution of the exhaust emissions from automobiles. In particular, the exhaust emissions of diesel engines are recognized as a main cause which strongly influence environment. Lots of researchers have attempted to develop various alternative fuels to reduce these harmful emissions in diesel engine. The purpose of this investigation is to evaluate the possibility of esterfied rice bran oil for diesel fuel substitution in a naturally aspirated D. 1. diesel engine, and also find means to reduce smoke emissions in esterfied rice bran oil combustion. The smoke emission of esterfied rice bran oil is reduced remarkably in comparison with commercial gas oil, that is, it was reduced approximately 58.2% at 2500rpm. But, power, torque and brake specific energy consumption didn't have no large differences. It was concluded that esterfied rice bran oil can utilize effectively as an alternative and renew- able fuel fur diesel engine.

국내의 휘발성유기화합물(VOC) 현황 및 관리기술 (Trends and Control Technologies of Volatile Organic Compound)

  • Volatile organic compound (VOC) has been well-known to Korea since the end of 1990's however, it has not been well documented until now. In this study, present ambient VOC levels, VOC emission sources, and VOC control technologies were reviewed and discussed. In addition, VOC management strategies to cut down ozone concentrations were suggested based on the present VOC database. For anthropogenic VOC reduction, VOC emitted from painting processes and automobiles should be controlled in the first place in large cities such as Seoul, Daegu, and Incheon. For natural VOC management, low emission trees need to be planted in those cities. It is also very significant to keep updating present and future VOC emission inventories for efficient VOC control strategies. As a conclusion, more systematic VOC control road-map based on BACT (best available control technology) needs to be made up. and more economical and efficient VOC control techniques have to be developed under strong national support in order to lower toxic VOC and photochemical oxidant levels.

AZ31마그네슘합금의 프레스포징시 FE해석 (FE Analysis on the Press Forging of AZ31 Magnesium Alloy)

  • Magnesium alloys have been widely used for many structural components of automobiles and aircraft because of high specific strength and good castability in spite of hexgonal closed-packed crystal structure of pure magnesium. In this paper, FE analysis was executed about the formability of AZ3l magnesium alloy on press forging process. For this, the variation of sheet temperature, distribution of punch force and the effect of heat transfer and friction between punch and sheet on the forming characteristics during press forging of AZ31 has been analyzed by finite element analysis. In order to obtain temperature dependence of material characteristics, uniaxial tension tests at elevated temperature were done under temperature of $100^{\circ}C\~ 500^{\circ}C$.

자동차 기관의 최신기술 (Technological Development of Engine for Automobiles)

  • 이상 최근 10년 사이 현저하게 보여준 엔진관계의 신기술과 그 배경 등을 돌아 보았을 때 발전하 는 가운데 특히 4륜차용 2사이클 엔진의 몰락이나 엔진의 주요 부품인 기화기의 쇠태는 그 어느 것이나 시대의 요구에 대한 기술의 한께 혹은 신기술의 개발 템포에 추종키 여려웠던 때문인 것 으로 생각된다. 2사이클 엔진은 비출력이 높고 밸브기구가 없어서 구조가 간단한 등의 장점이 있는 반면 배출가스대책(특히 HC), 경부하시의 부정연소 등의 문제를 가지고 있어 4륜차용으로 서는 배출가스규제를 계기로 SAAB(스웨덴), DKW(서독)의 2사이클 엔진이 자취를 감추게 되었 고 현재 남아있는 것은 일본의 경트럭용 엔진에 지나지 않는다. 또 기화기에 대해서도 배출가 스규제에 대한 대응에 밀려 공연비의 제어성, 고도에 대한 보정성, 내열신뢰성, 제어성, 고도에 대한 보정성, 내열신뢰성, 운전성 등의 요구에 엄해진 반면 흡기포트내(PI), 혹은 흡기관 중양부 내(SPI) 가솔린분사방식에 눌려서 가변벤투리식 등도 미국(1982), 일본(1983)에서 발표되었으나 1985년형의 미국차 엔진에는 기화기의 정착율이 50%에 지나지 않는등승용차용 분야에서는 그 사용이 점차 줄어두는 추세에 있다.

  • Recently, The world is faced with the very serious problems related to the increasing use of the conventional petroleum fuels. The air pollutions in big cities have been occurred by the exhaust emissions from automobiles. Many researchers have been attracted various oxygen-enriched for the measure of these problems. In this study, Oxygen-enriched air supplied to a diesel engine has significant benefits in reducing the particulate matter emission but detects in increasing the NOx. This study concluded that the oxygen-enriched and cooled-EGR might be a good measure to reduce smoke, particulate emission and NOx in diesel engine.

대형버스 바디모델의 후류특성 및 후미 스포일러 효과에 관한 해석적 고찰 (A Numerical Investigation on the Wake Flow Characteristics and Rear-Spoiler Effect of a Large-Sized Bus Body)

  • The aerodynamic characteristics of automobiles have received substantial interest recently. Detailed knowledge of the vehicle aerodynamics is essential to improve fuel efficiency and enhance stability at high-speed cruising. In this study, a numerical simulation has been carried out for three-dimensional turbulent flows around a commercial bus body. Also, the effect of rear-spoiler attached at rear end of bus body was investigated. The Wavier-Stokes equation is solved with SIMPLE method in general curvilinear coordinates system. RNG $k-\varepsilon$ turbulence model with the MARS scheme was used for the evaluating aerodynamic forces, velocity and pressure distribution. The results showed details of the three-dimensional wake flow in the immediate rear of bus body and the effect of rear-spoiler on the wake structure. A maximum of 14% reduction in drag coefficient was achieved for a model with a rear-spoiler.

네트워크 기반 Steer-by-wire 시스템을 위한 지능형 엑츄에이터 제어 (Control of smart actuators for networked steer-by-wire system)

  • This paper presents a control algorithm for smart actuators that can be used in a 'steer-by-wire' system for next-generation intelligent automobiles. 'Steer-by-wire' is a network-based mechatronic steering system in which mechanical linkages and hydraulics are replaced by electric motors and a digital communication network. The algorithm is designed not only to achieve the capabilities of following the desired steering angles while minimizing the discrepancy between two steering wheels, but also to tolerate an actuator with faults. The proposed algorithm is based on a simple proportional control so that it can be implemented in real-time with a low-cost embedded microcontroller. The effectiveness of the control algorithm is examined using a hardware-in-the-loop simulator consisting of two DC motors and a CAN bus network.

  • Thanks to the development of applications, many people are using a smart phone cradle these days. But it has some problems. First of all, it is hard to fix on automobiles. Also, it is vulnerable to external vibration. Recognizing these problems, we decided to improve this device by using FreeCAD and ANSYS. Because FreeCAD is newly invented software, we used another 3D modeling software to cover shortages of tools in FreeCAD. Also, we used famous analysis software 'ANSYS' to analyze bending deformation, modal analysis, and harmonic analysis.

  • In order to detect the ultrasonic that is generated by the partial discharge of the heavy electric machinery, a Laser Doppler Vibrometer (LDV) was developed. A Michelson type interferometer which employed heterodyne signal process technique was built to measure the frequency and amplitude of vibration. The output signal of the fast photodetector was a frequency modulated signal centered at 40 MHz. The signal from the detector was amplified and downconverted to intermediate frequency centered at 1 MHz after mixing process. The voltage output that was proportional to the velocity of the moving surface(PZT) was obtained using PLL. The spectrum of the FM signal was analyzed and integration method was introduced to obtain amplitude information. This LDV can be used to measure the vibration of MEMS devices, automobiles, HDD and CDP.
