자동차 냉방기용 내부 풀리의 냉간 단조 공정 설계 (Process Design of Pulley for Automobile Airconditoner in Cold Forging)

  • The inner pulley is an automobile component used as air conditioner clutch assembly. In cold forging of inner pulley, the design requirements are to keep the same height of the inner rib and outer one, and to make uniform the hardness distribution in the forged product. In industry, the design of forging processes is performed based on experience-oriented technology, that is, designers experience and expensive trial and error. Using the rigid-plastic finite element simulations. we design the optimal process conditions, which has a preforming operation. Also the final product configuration of forging has to be designed again in view of metal flow involved in the operation, derived from the finite element simulations. The forged pulley is investigated by checking the hardness distribution and it is noted that distribution has improved to be even and high enough for industrial application.

  • By using a three-dimensional finite element program HydroFORM-3D based on a rigid-plastic model, the hydroforming process for automobile subfrmae is analyzed in this study. The goal of this study is to accomplish preform design and determine the level of internal pressure for producing final hydroformed subframe component. Prior to hydroforming, the initial tube blank must be bent to the approximate centerline of the final part to enable the tube to be placed in the die cavity, After then, a preforming operation like stamping is carried out to the prebent tube. Finally, hydroforming process is performed to the preformed tube to get the final production. And through ductile fracture theory, the failure, bursting, is predicted during hydroforming process for tube blank with different diameter.

  • The hydroforming processing is a relatively new technology in comparison with conventional stamping process. The hydroforming processing makes torsion beam in rear suspension of automobile. The durability of torsion beam is very important characteristic that operate in an automobile. In order to optimize the hydroforming process and satisfy the durability, the hydroforming simulation which could control an axial compression and high internal pressure with computer simulation has to be operated. This paper is about an optimum design to improve the kinematic and compliance characteristics of a torsion-beam of suspension system. The result from finite element analysis shows that the forming and the durability are optimized. If there is effect of First pressure in hydroforming processing that gap is in the die tool, the prototype of tube is not satisfied on the durability test.

  • Laser heat treatment is an effective technique used to improve the tribological properties and also to increase the service life of automobile components such as camshafts, crankshatfs, lorry brake drums and gears. High power $CO_2$ lasers and Nd:YAG lasers are employed for localized hardening of materials and hence are of potential application in the automobile industries. The heat is conducted rapidly into the bulk of the specimen causing self-quenching action to occur and the formation of matrensitic structure. In this investigation, the microstructrual features occurring in Nd:YAG laser hardening SM45C and $STD_11$ steel are discussed with the use of optical microscopic and scanning electron microscopic analysis. Moreover, This paper describes the optimisation of the processing parameters for maximum hardened depth of SM45C and $STD_11$ steel specimens of 10mm thickness by using CW:YAG laser.

  • Springback after draw and flange is the critical factor affecting the product quality. It is very difficult to predict the amount of springback not only because of complex geometry and material characteristics of the stamping product, but because the methodology has not been established. In this study, springback mechanism is introduced, and experimental tryout an automobile panel is carried out for die design of automotive hood panel. Further, introduce adapting design and field springback was verified by trial experimental with the measured tryout result. Finally, introduced about general method in order to predict springback in computer simulation.

  • Currently, in automobile industry. the efforts to reduce the manufacturing cost by changing the process of manufacturing are continually performed. In this paper, we proposed a new manufacturing process, the roll bending of a ring plate of automotive fuel tank instead of conventional press blanking process to reduce material loss and manufacturing cost. Finite element analysis was used to optimize the roll bending process to assure rectangular cross-section of the ring plate. Also, spring-back analysis after the roll bending was performed and dimension of the bending die considering spring-back was analyzed. Finally, we verified a possibility for realization of the proposed method shape with prototypes.

  • The design of experiments are used for optimal design of formed tools to machine automobile bearing rubber seal die, which is classified into the high precision rubber mold. The clearance angle, rake angle and the length cutting edge are considered as the factors. The cutting force is selected to be a characteristic value and compared with the mean tool wear and life by repeated experiments. The design of the experiment is based on the repeated one-way factorial design, which finds the significance of the factors and the best level to predict the tool life by using ANOVA and regression.

  • The high-speed machining technology of difficult-to-cut material is needed to achieve the high-efficiency of die manufacturing. The high-speed machining is applied in automobile, airplane and electricityㆍelectro industry etc, because it can improve machining efficiency and productivity with high speed, high power and high rotation. In this study, high speed machinability, tool wear characteristics and its monitoring, characteristics of damaged layer, machinability of difficult-to-cut material, characteristics of a free curved surface and method of CAD/CAM system were introduced to acquire the shortening of machining time, the improvement of machining efficiency and the high quality of machined surface. Therefore, we establish the stabilization condition of difficult-to-cut material machining and present the optimal cutting condition for high-efficiency cutting.

  • The potential for growth and the future impact of Rapid Prototyping that it will have on the product development cycle are enormous. Since making tools, precedes making parts, Rapid Tooling becomes widely used in automobile, aerospace, electronic, and other industries. In this study, master models formed by Rapid Prototyping of Stereolithography have been applied for vacuum casting to obtain silicone patterns which have transformed into epoxy models. The epoxy models have been measured to check dimension errors, and tested their functions. These checking and measurement have provided information on plastic injection possibilities and data for die design, Temporary die making with the materials of Aluminum/Epoxy and powder injection metal (PIM) has also been discussed in terms of hardness, surface roughness, and SEM microstructures.

  • The use of high strength steels are gradually increasing to reduce the weight of automobile to improve the environmental problems and collision safety. To encounter the traditional disadvantages of high strength steels like as a poor formability and high springback, hot press forming has been developed. By this method, the strength of steel sheet is increased about three times of original one through die quenching process. In order to the design of hot press forming tools by using numerical simulation, the knowledge of mechanical and microstructural characteristics are required. This study show the mechanical and microstructural characteristics of a high strength boron-alloyed steel according to the various quenching conditions.
