A Study on Analysis Technique for Solenoid Valve Applicable to Military Vehicle Transmission (군용차량 변속기에 적용할 수 있는 솔레노이드밸브 해석기술에 관한 연구)

  • Electronic of military vehicle that had relied on pure machinery system is ongoing. A large part of electronic of small-sized military vehicle has been already commercialized, which will expand to large-sized military vehicle field. Design of solenoid valve for automatic transmission is significantly important for stable driving performance of military vehicle. This research aims to develop simulation method which is capable of predicting performance of solenoid valve quantitatively according to its variation of ATF temperature. The research has been conducted in line with Maxwell, a magnetic field analysis program, and AMESim, a hydraulic analysis program. After simulation, it turned out to have been very similar to the test result in temperature range which excludes high temperature (over $120^{\circ}C$) and extremely low temperature (below $-20^{\circ}C$).

The Effect of Using Massage Chair with Acupoint and Meridian Muscle Massage Program on Back Pain: A Single Arm Pre-post Comparison Study (경혈 및 경근 안마 프로그램이 적용된 안마의자 사용이 요통에 미치는 영향)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of acupoint and meridian muscle massage given by automatic massage chair. Methods : We recruited 30 patients with back pain who met inclusion criteria. Two weeks were given as a waiting period, and the massage intervention was applied 12 times for 4 weeks. The programmed automatic massage chair was used to provide effective stimulus on acupoints and meridians for 20 minutes. We used Visual analog scale(VAS) and Korean Oswestry Disability Index(KODI) to quantify pain and function. We also recorded patients' all of vital signs and abnormal reactions during the trial to asses to assess safety. Results : Two participants dropped out due to personal reasons and 28 participants completed the clinical trial. We found that the degree of back pain (VAS, KODI) decreased significantly after the trial. As a result, VAS score decreased from $6.44{\pm}0.85$(Visit 2) to $4.59{\pm}1.52$ (Visit 14)(p<0.001), and KODI score was also reduced from $14.79{\pm}5.13$(Visit 14) to $9.04{\pm}4.52$ (Visit 2) (p<0.001). Also, we did not find any adverse effects in this study. Conclusions : We found that the acupoint and meridian muscle massage can effectively decrease back pain. This proves that the massage program designed by Korean medicine can be a good option to patients with back pain. However, further study with controlled design is still needed to verify its effectiveness.

  • A growing attention has been paid to the optimum design of structures in recent years. Most studies on the optimum design of reinforced concrete structures has been mainly focussed to the design of structural members such as beams, slabs and columns, and there exist few studies that deal with the optimum design of large-scale concrete shell structures. The purpose of the present investigation is, therefore, to set up an efficient optimum design method for the large-scale reinforced concrete cylindrical shell structures like intake tower of reservoir. The major design variables are the dimensions and steel areas of each member of structures. The construction cost which is compo8ed of the concrete, steel, and form work costs, respectively, is taken as the objective function. The constraint equations for the design of intake-tower are derived on the basis of strength design method. The results obtained are summarized as follows 1. The efficient optimlzation algorithrns which can execute the automatic optimum design of reinforced concrete intake tower based on the strength design method were developed. 2. Since the objective function and design variables were converged to their optimum values within the first or second iteration, the optimization algorithms developed in this study seem to be efficient and stable. 3. When using the strength design method, the construction cost could be saved about 9% compared with working stress design method. Therefore, the reliability of algorithm was proved. 4. The difference in construction cost between the optimum designs with substructures and with entire structure was found to be small and thus the optimum design with substructures may conveniently be used in practical design. 5. The major active constraints of each structural member were found to be the 'bending moment constraint for slab, the minimum longitudinal steel ratio constraint for tower body and the shearing force, bending moment and maximum eccentricity constraints for footing, respectively. 6. The computer program developed in the present study can be effectively used even by an uneiperienced designer for the optimum design of reinforced concrete intake-tower on the basis of strength design method.

  • One of important factors for improving the learning achievement of students in computer programming education is to provide plenty of opportunities of problem-solving experiences through variety forms of assignments, However, for the most cases, evaluation of programming assignments is performed manually by instructors and automated tools for the accurate evaluation are not equipped at the present time. Under this restricted environment instructors need much work and time to grade assignments so that instructors could not deliver sufficient programming assignments to students, In order to overcome this problem. au automated programming assignment evaluation system is needed that would enable instructors to evaluate assignments easily in an effective and consistent way and also to detect any plagiarism activities among students in program source codes readily, Accordingly, in this paper we design and implement a Web-based programming assignment grading system that allows instructors to evaluate program performance automatically as well as to evaluate program styles and piagiarism easily with appropriate feedback.

Analytical Behavior Characteristics Analysis of Automatic Restoring Friction Slit Damper (자동복원 마찰슬릿댐퍼의 해석적 거동특성 분석)

  • In this study, we propose a self-restoring friction slit damper by combining the concepts of self-restoring dampers, friction dampers, and steel dampers that are currently used and researched. For this purpose, an innovative damper structure was designed using superelastic shape memory alloy for automatic recovery and combining the concepts of friction damper and slit damper. Afterwards, detailed design was carried out and variables such as material, with of strut, and bolt fastening force were set. Modeling was performed using the ABAQUS program for a total of 12 dampers, and finite element analysis was performed by substituting the designed loading protocol. As a result, the self-recovering friction slit damper using superelastic shape memory alloy was excellent in terms of load, but the energy dissipation ability was not significantly secured due to the excellent recovery performance. However, friction slit dampers made of Gr.50 steel have dramatically improved performance in terms of load and energy dissipation through innovative structural improvements. Through this, the innovative structure of the damper, which combines the mechanisms of a friction damper and a steel damper, was demonstrated.

  • The paper is concerned with application to develop the expert system, which structural analysis and design process for tower cranes. The system is organized into three groups. One is pre-processor for creating input data files, another is `model former' which combines knowledge-base with inference engine for automatic generating structural analysis models, a third is application group for final analysis checks. In this study, geometric subroutine of `model former' designates node positions, nodes, elements numbers and element types. Load data subroutine computes weight of tower crane and device, slewing force, cargo load, wind force form rules or equations in knowledge-base. Also, Property and boundary subroutine applies element properties and boundary conditions to suitable elements and nodes. Design and analysis expert system for tower crane integrates these subroutine, `model former' and pre-processor. RBR(Rule-Base Reasoning) was adopted for a reasoning strategy of this expert system. And this expert system can produce structural analysis model and data, which can be used in ordinary structural analysis program (SAP, ADINA or NASTRAN, etc.). In this paper, this expert system produces format of the analysis model data, which are used in MSC/NASTRAN. The main discussions included in the paper are introduction of the tower crane and structural analysis, composition of the design expert system for tower crane and structural analysis using the expert system.

  • The technical data for transmission line design and maintenance are calculated by a very complicated numerical formula so it is almost impossible to solve them by hand. Therefore the TOWER+ EXPERT SYSTEM was developed to systematically support technical data for transmission line design and maintenance. This system is able to calculate technical data which is applied to all conductors in our county, - that is 12 kinds of systems with 86 numbers of standard conductors, - and is programed to be user friendly by adopting dialogue windows, menu selection functions. Moreover, it minimizes input data by automatically providing standard transmission line design data, and it includes guidance of applicable work, program usage, data input process, help, explanation of terms and automatic error recovery functions that even a beginner can easily use.

  • A design collaboration system for a plant project is a set of complicated multidisciplinary processes in which a large number of various engineering fields are involved. Each subsystem is related to each other as they depend on information that other subsystems create, which leads to inefficient design iterations. This study presents an optimal design collaboration system for a plant project using Design Structure Matrix (DSM). Data regarding design subsystems, parameters, etc. were obtained by expert surveys and workshops. An automatic analysis program for DSM was developed using Visual Basic Application and Matlab to provide a partitioned DSM. A case study was conducted on a furnace project; consequently, the optimal design collaboration system with five crucial iteration groups was derived.

  • Some people who take a driver's license test retake it again because of license cancellation, but most of them take the test for the first time to drive the car. Driving a car is directly linked to life, and the initial correct driving habits are more important than anything else. In particular, it is very important to obtain a license by evaluating the correct driving ability based on objective and fair standards when learning the first driving, because many people acquire a driving license while entering the society for the first time. In this paper, we propose the S / W design and its main functions that can emit high quality drivers through efficient, fair and accurate automated scoring. Through this, it is proposed to improve the automatic grading driver's license system, to prevent traffic accidents, and to reduce traffic accidents through proper driving.
