Automated parking systems, which automatically park and retrieve vehicles, have been steadily replacing conventional parking systems. The spiral parking system is a type of automated parking systems that has cylindrical parking tower. We develop an economic design model of spiral parking system based on a recursive optimization and simulation procedure in which the dynamic nature of the parking system can be integrated into the mathematical programming model. The optimal values of design parameters are found that gives the minimum total cost while complying with the desired performance of the system.

Path planning is one of the important technologies for automated parking. It requires to plan a collision-free path considering the vehicle's kinematic constraints such as minimum turning radius or steering velocity. In a complex parking lot, Rapidly-exploring Random Tree* (RRT*) can be used for planning a parking path, and Reeds-Shepp or Hybrid Curvature can be applied as a tree-extension method to consider the vehicle's constraints. In this case, each of these methods may affect the computation time of planning the parking path, path-tracking error, and parking success rate. Therefore, in this study, we conduct comparative analysis of two tree-extension functions: Reeds-Shepp (RS) and Hybrid Curvature (HC), and show that HC is a more appropriate tree-extension function for parking path planning. The differences between the two functions are introduced, and their performances are compared by applying them with RRT*. They are tested at various parking scenarios in simulation, and their advantages and disadvantages are discussed by computation time, cross-track error while tracking the path, parking success rate, and alignment error at the target parking spot. These results show that HC generates the parking path that an autonomous vehicle can track without collisions and HC allows the vehicle to park with lower alignment error than those of RS.

The system proposed in this paper is a fully automated parking control system that can even protect users' information through blockchain. Unlike conventional parking control systems, the system consists of a web page that is accessible to people of all ages and ages, directly to the parking lot. Such a system would also benefit managers in the parking lot business. This is because it can reduce soaring labor costs and maximize the sales it can generate by operating 24 hours a day. In order to implement these systems, the web page was first designed using HTML and the API was configured using JAX-RS to invoke the API required by the web page. As a result, it created a web page that was easily accessible to anyone, built a server that could be accessed by more than 200 people at the same time, focused on personal information protection by encrypting the information of users through blockchain grafts, and designed a system that enabled users to complete payments easily. It is planning to add QR codes and GPS functions in the future and implement a function that allows one-touch information on parking lots and their vehicle information.

This paper introduces an AVP (Automated Valet Parking) system which applies an autonomous driving concept into the current PAS (Parking Assistant System). The present commercial PAS technology is limited into vehicle. It means vehicle only senses and controls by and for itself to assist the parking. Therefore, the present PAS is restricted to simple parking events. But AVP includes wider parking events and planning because it uses infra-sensor network as well as vehicle sensor. For the realization of AVP, the commercial steering system of a compact vehicle was modified into steer-by-wire structure and various sensors like LRF (Long Range Finder) and camera were installed in a parking area. And local & global server decides where and when the vehicle can go and park in the testing area after recognized the status of environment and vehicle from those sensors. GPS solution was used to validate the AVP performance. More various parking situations, vehicles and obstacles will be considered in the next research stages based on these results. And we expect this AVP solution with more intelligent vehicles can be applied in a big parking lot like a market, an amusement park, etc.

This paper proposes an efficient method to locate the automated guided vehicle (AGV) into a specific parking position using artificial visual landmark and vision-based algorithm. The landmark has comer features and a HSI color arrangement for robustness against illuminant variation. The landmark is attached to left of a parking spot under a crane. For parking, an AGV detects the landmark with CCD camera fixed to the AGV using Harris comer detector and matching descriptors of the comer features. After detecting the landmark, the AGV tracks the landmark using pyramidal Lucas-Kanade feature tracker and a refinement process. Then, the AGV decreases its speed and aligns its longitudinal position with the center of the landmark. The experiments showed the AGV parked accurately at the parking spot with small standard deviation of error under bright illumination and dark illumination.
With the advent of autonomous cars, we explored the problems which will soon arise while parking in car parks. These include structure of parking lot suitable for autonomous cars, finding the closest parking slot available, and navigation to the location. We provide an initial solution, wherein we use a central server and the graph of the parking lot to guide cars to the closest parking slots available. Our experiments have shown that the proposed method is effective for the controlled parking for self-driving cars.

The term parking management system usually refers to the custom built hardware intensive systems installed in building and malls. However, there are many places where such expensive solutions cannot be installed due to various reasons, like cost and urgent/temporary setup requirements. This project focuses on developing a parking management system based on image processing to detect vacant parking slot in an area where automated systems are not installed. Camera images of the parking area are subjected to image processing algorithm which marks virtual slots in the area and extracts occupancy information to guide the incoming drivers about availability and position of vacant spaces. The application consists of two interfaces: one for the guidance of the incoming drivers and the other one for the administrator. The later interface also informs the administrator if a car is not parked properly in the virtual slot. This parking system would reduce the stress and time wastage associated with car parking and would make the management of such areas less costly.
The present annexed parking lot standards for buildings in Parking Act are categorized in 9 groups in terms of recreation, culture and assembly, housing, factory, and so on, in which same grouped facilities have uniform parking standards. The local governments have authority to itemize groups and adjust parking standards within ${\pm}50%$ ranges. These days diversity in building types and functions need more fractionated parking standards; however, most local governments focusing merely on applying strengthened parking standards in general without systematic rules of consistency. The current problem of parking standards being used is lack of regarding facility characteristics; expecially, a large sized high-tech manufacturing facility located in industrial site is still applied by same parking standards as normal manufacturing facility, even though most part of manufacturing process is automated and hence less manpower is employed. This paper presents a systematic method of analyzing parking generation unit for factory facilities in industrial site in terms of facility use and scale characteristics.

One way to increase public revenue from public parking spaces is by improving the way parking meters gather data. Improved parking meters have evolved that increase car park revenue as well as efficiency in service and operations. It provides parking meters with the capacity to provide real-time information. This information consist primarily of the status of parking spaces (it indicates which expired metered spaces have parked vehicles.) The technology consists of sensors located at meters that report on their condition (i.e. whether it is working or if it is expired). This information is processed by a microprocessor and then sent via an internal wireless modem to the server. This server then processes the information from all the parking meters and sends it to the public institution in charge of them. This system also provides verification of parking permits. For example, disabled people with special license plates can be automatically approved for parking in designated places.
