  • This paper summarizes an education and training system for the auto-reclosing of power transmission system using a real time digital simulator. The system is developed to understand the principle of reclosing and the sequence of automatic reclosing schemes, and practice the effects of reclosing actions to power system in real-time simulator. This study is concentrated into the following two parts. One is the development of real time education and training system of automatic reclosing schemes. For this, we use the RTDS(real time digital simulator) and the actual digital protective relay. The mathematical relay model of RTDS and the actual distance relay which is equipped automatic reclosing function are also used. The other is the user friendly interface between trainee and trainer. The various interface displays are used for user handing and result display. The conditions of automatic reclosing which is a number of reclosing, reclosing dead time, reset time, and so on, can be changed by the user interface panel. A number of scenario cases are reserved for the education and training. Through the test, we verified that the proposed system can be effectively used to accomplish the education and training of automatic reclosing.

  • Lots of forginfs used in automobile and aerospce industries are made in hot or cold working conditions, depending on the size and shape of a product. Usually the die design for new items has been first made on the basis of experiences and many know-hows accumulated in the company and then slightly modified through trial and error method to get the desired forgings without defects. Most of drawings at the die design stage have been manually drawn, butrecently some of forging companies have begun to apply a computer-aided drafting technique to the die design for reducing drafting time as well as repeatedly utilizing standardized parts form registerd data base. In this paper the automated die design technique for forward extrusion of axisymmetric forgings is developed by using AutoLISP language. For this study the representative die system is determined form the investigation of several types of forging dies being currently employed in the metal forming field and the design rules for cold extrusion die are summarized and programmed on a personal computer. A few design examples of forward extrusion die are given and discusses.

  • We propose an image segmentation method for auto-teaching system of PCB (Printed Circuit Board) assembly inspection machines. The inspection machine acquires images of all components in PCB, and then compares each image with its standard image to find the assembly errors such as misalignment, inverse polarity, and tombstone. The component window that is the area of component to be acquired by camera, is one of the teaching data for operating the inspection machines. To reduce the teaching time of the machine, we newly develop the image processing method to extract the component window automatically from the image of PCB. The proposed method segments the component window by excluding the soldering parts as well as board background. We binarize the input image by use of HSI color model because it is difficult to discriminate the RGB colors between components and backgrounds. The linear combination of the binarized images then enhances the component window from the background. By use of the horizontal and vertical projection of histogram, we finally obtain the component widow. The experimental results are presented to verify the usefulness of the proposed method.

  • This paper describes a research work of developing computer-aided design of lead frame, semiconductor, with blanking operation which is very precise for progressive working. Approach to the system is based on the knowledge-based rules. Knowledge for the system is formulated from pasticity theories, experimental results and the empirical knowledge of field experts. This system has been written in AutoLISP on the AutoCAD using a personal computer and in I-DEAS Drafting Programming Language on the I-DEAS Master Series Drafting with Workstation, HP9000/715(64). Transference of data between AutoCAD and I-DEAS Master Series Drafting is accomplished by DXF(drawing exchange format) and IGES(initial graphics exchange specification) methods. This system is composed of five modules, which are input and shape treatment, production feasibility check, strip-layout, data-conversion and die-layout modules. The process planning and Die design system is designed by considering several factors, such as complexities of blank geometry, punch profiles, and the availability of a press equipment and standard parts. This system provides its efficiecy for strip-layout, and die design for lead frame, semiconductor.

  • Recently, as researches and developments for milli-structure and micro machine are actively progressing, manufacturing technologies and skills for tiny small machine parts are getting more important. So, we have been trying to cut using high revolution air bearing spindle and micro-endmill, and studying for magnitude of cutting force, cutting force wave form and surface roughness. We figured out that in 60,000rpm is so slow that cutting is not perfact. Chatter occured to $2\mu{m}/rev\;at\;80,000rpm\;and\;4.4\mu{m}/rev$ at 100,000rpm. We confirmed that spindle run out increased surface roughness at high revolution.

  • The objective of this study is to optimize the section of RC box culvert and develop a CAD system for drawing. This paper consists of three parts. In the first part, the external load conditions are systematized by using the literatures and specifications. In the second one, the RC box culvert is optimized using the SUMT algorithm. Sizing variables, and steel ratio are taken as design variables, and a cost function as the objective function. The stress and side constraints are derived from the Korea Concrete Specifications for the ultimate strength design. Finally, a data base and CAD system is developed for the drawing of the optimized section of RC box culverts.

  • A low-stress organic polymer membrane is proposed as a deformable mirror that can be incorporated into a cellular phone camera to achieve auto focusing without motor-type moving parts. It is demonstrated that our fabricated device has an optical power of 20 diopters and can switch focus in 14 ms. The surface roughness of the organic membrane is measured around 15 nm, less than ${\lambda}$/20 of the visible light. With curve fitting, we found that the actuated membrane is almost parabolic in shape, which leads to less aberration than spherical surfaces. It is suitable for reflective-optics systems.

  • ADAS(Advanced Driver Assistance System) which is developed for alleviating driver's load has become improved with extending it's role. Previously, ADAS offered simple function just to make driver's convenience. However, nowadays ADAS also acts as Active Safety system which is made to release and/or prevent accidents. Longitudinal control system, as one of major parts of Active Safety System, is assessed as doing direct effect on avoiding accidents. Therefore, many countries such as Europe and America has pushed longitudinal control system as a government-wide project. In this paper, it covers the result of evaluation system and vehicle evaluation for development study in FCW, ACC and AEB.

  • We consider the irrational part of the basic pattern drafting of the Geo-Ko-ri so that we want to design it more scientically. So there are problems which is found after we considered with comparison about the existingly basic pattern drafting of Geo-go-ri. (1) there is a difference between the practical and Calculation. (2) The part of the curved line was mad indistinctly There is a difference betweence the calculating expression and calculating value. (4) There are some parts which lack objectivity about the reference size. (5) The calculating method of Collar-width and Neck-Nidth are not formative and rational. These are items that we must consider and study further. Especially if we can make up of the scientific form in consideration of the formativeness focused on "git" I think it will make a great contribution to not only the standardization of the basic pattern of Geo-go-ri and the use of the use of education but also the manufacture of individual clothing the production by Auto CAD. • This paper presents an automatic conversion of machining data from the orthographic views of press mold by feature recognition rule. The system includes following 6 modules : separation of views, function support, dimension text recognition, feature recognition, dimension text check and feature processing modules. The characteristic of this system is that with minimum user intervention, it recognizes basic features such as holes, slots, pockets and clamping parts and thus automatically converts CAD drawing details of press mold into machining data using 2D CAD system instead of using an expensive 3D Modeler. The system is developed by using IBM-PC in the environment of AutoCAD R12, AutoLISP and MetaWare High C. Performance of the system is verified as a good interfacing of CAD and CAM when applied to a lot of sample drawings.
