  • Nuclear myocardial perfusion imaging is very effective in the evaluation of patients with suspicious acute coronary syndrome (ACS), for adequate diagnosis and treatment. There have been many clinical evidences to support the efficacy and cost-effectiveness. In addition, many authoritative guidelines support the utility of myocardial perfusion imaging in ACS with an appropriate diagnostic protocol. However, with the development of other cardiac imaging modalities, the choice of modality for the diagnosis of suspicious ACS now depends on the availability of each modality in each institute. Newly developed imaging technologies, especially including molecular imaging, are expected to have great potential not only for diagnosis but also for primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention of ACS.

  • This study compared generative fathering and parenting styles of 90 Korean and 73 American fathers who had a child 3 to 5 years of age. The data were collected through questionnaires on generative fathering, parenting styles, and father-child relationships. Results showed that Korean fathers were more involved in child rearing and perceived their parental responsibilities more strongly than American fathers; American fathers showed authoritative parenting and Korean fathers showed authoritarian parenting styles; among American fathers, the warmth factor contributed to the closeness between father and child; among Korean fathers, the control factor showed a negative relationship with conflict between father and child. These results suggest that the function of father's control in child development might vary by cultural contexts.

Fifteen evaluation documents for WWW are collected, analyzed from digital sources of U. S. academic libraries and common criteria for evaluating WWW resources are developed. Also several practical steps were made to overcome the quality problems.

  • The structure of fears was identified and measured by Q methodology. Subjects were 40 school-aged children with emotional and behavioral problems. Subjectivity of children's fears was classified into 3 types by the QUANL program. Three types occupied 52% of all variance and correlations ranged between .31 and.52. The first type is "imaginative-sensitive perception" where children are fearful about unreal and imaginative objects related to death. The second type is "rational-empirical perception" where children are concerned about the impact of fearful objects and authoritative figures based on their own personal experience. The last type is "realistic-egocentric perception" where children are fearful of possible violence, crime, and disease.

A survey was given to 281 pharmacists who enrolled in 16-week clinical pharmacy educating program in continuous education center for advanced pharmacy at Seoul National University. Three main questions that pharmacists were asked to answer were: (1) difficulties on dispensing prescription, (2) difficulties on communicating with doctors, (3) most difficult disease on patients counseling. The response rates for the survey were more than 60 % for each three questions (62.63 %, 63.7 %, and 64.41 %, respectively). The top three barriers to dispensing prescription were lack of professional knowledge about medications, prescription error and its solving ability and patient counseling. The top three barriers to communicating with doctors were lacking of opportunity to discuss about patients' medication due to unavailability of doctors, doctors' attitude using authoritative manner, and a pharmacist's lack of knowledge. • This study examined the relationships between parenting styles, academic achievement, and behavioral adjustment of adolescents in Korea. Using a sample of 181 parents and their children (13-15 years old), parents completed the Parental Authority Questionnaire and adolescents filled out the Youth Behavior Checklist (CBCL) and provided their school grades. Factor analysis was conducted on the PAQ to confirm the psychometric properties. Hierarchical regression analysis was computed to determine the relationship between maternal and paternal parenting styles, academic performance, and children's internalizing and externalizing behaviors. Regression analysis revealed that mother's authoritative parenting style was positively related with adolescents' grades in English. However, father's permissive was negatively related with adolescents' grades in English, Mathematics, and Science. Mother's permissive parenting styles showed negative effects of internalizing and externalizing behavior problems whereas father's permissive parenting styles showed positive effects of internalizing and externalizing behavior problems.
