  • This study is concerned on computerized analysis of COG, torques and EMG amplitudes in weight-lifting motion. The results show that; (1) torques on major joints show a rather consistent relationship with respect to the sequence of four distinct motions in weight-lifting, (2) analysis of EMG amplitudes is a sensitive measure of both athlete's skill and his potential capability, and (3) range of COG variations can be used as indicator of motion stability, existence of undesirable posture, and target muscle for intensive training. A computerized routine, which includes analyses on COG, EMG and torque, is a scientific tool for coaching athletes. In addition, an Expert System which includes CAD routine was developed in order to promote better understanding for athletes and coaches.

  • In view of the importance of muscle-specific creatine kinase (CKMM) gene as a genetic factor for athletic performance, we investigate the relationship between elite athletic performance and two restriction fragment length polymorphisms (Ncol and Taql RFLPs) in the CKMM gene. Genomic DNA was extracted from white blood cells of 98 unrelated male Korean elite athletes and 04 sedentary controls, respectively. Two genetic polymorphisms in the CKMM gene were detected by the polymerase chain reaction and the digestion with restriction endonucleases, Ncol and Taql, respectively. There were no significant associations between two genetic polymorphisms in the CKMM gene and elite athletic performance or clinical parameters in our subjects. Therefore, these findings suggest that two genetic polymorphisms in the CKMM gene may not be useful as genetic markers to predict the athletic performance in male Koreans.

  • In the previous studies, some genetic polymorphisms in the human mitochondrial DNA have been associated with athletic performance in several populations. To investigate the relationship between mitochondrial DNA 5178A/C polymorphism and athletic performance in Korean population, blood samples were collected from 100 male Korean elite athletes and 64 sedentary controls. There was no significant difference in allele frequency of mitochondrial DNA 5178A/C polymorphism between two groups (P > 0.05). However, 5178A allele frequency in Korean population was very higher than those in other populations studied. Because it has been reported that this genetic polymorphisms is associated with longevity, further study will be needed to clarify the relationship between this genetic polymorphism and life expectancy of Korean population.

Seoul School Health Center Hospital Upon comings of 1986 Asian Games and 1988 Olympiad in Seoul , Korean people have more enthusiasm for sports than any other time .It's very desirable that student athletes are doing thier best to train skills and to improve records for the coming 2 international sports events .I concluded as followings from the statistical analysis of 159 student athletes about sports injury who had been received Physiotherapy in School Health Center Hospital in Seoul from Jan.8 1982 to Dec,4 1984Track & field is the most common team among school sports team in Seoul.47 Students(30%) were injuried during football game, Career of sports injury: 88 students(55.3 %) were injured for the first time .Location of injury: More than 30% in both sexs were injuried in the Lumbar Frequency in injury in lower limb is higher than that of upper . Frequency of injury in upper right limb and lower left limb are higher than of counterparts6. Diagnosis: 32% of students were diagnosed as lumbago. Treatment period: 42.7% of students were healed within a week and 76.8% within 2 weeks

  • The purpose of this study were to investigate the effects of knee brace on the knee muscular neuro-biomechanical variables during the rebound in female highschool basketball players. Twelve high school female ($17.9{\pm}0.8years$) basketball players rebound jumped for maximal vertical height to sufficiently stress the anterior cruciate ligament with and without knee brace. Kinematic data were collected to estimate the knee flexion, abduction angles and jump height. The EMG data from the biceps femoris and rectus femoris was used to estimate the ratio of quadriceps muscle activity. Female athletes with knee brace showed more reduced the knee abduction angle and the ratio of quadriceps muscle activity at foot contact phase than without knee brace. In conclusion, Female athletes with brace reduced knee anterior cruciate ligament loads.

  • Serum lipid and lipoprotein levels are influenced by genetic factors, and exorcise increases the concentrations of cardio-protective parameters such as high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-cholesterol) and apolipoproteinAI (apoAI) in human serum. In the present study, we tested the effect of adaptation to endurance exercise on the association of a genetic polymorphism (Pst 1 RFLP) in the apoAI gene with these biochemical parameters. The genotype and allele frequencies for the Pst 1 RFLP were not significantly different between the elite athletes and sedentary controls (P>0.05). There were also no significant associations between the Pst 1 RFLP of the apoAI gene and the biochemical parameters in elite athletic group. Thus, our results suggest that the Pst 1 RFLP of the apoAI gene was not significantly associated with the serum apoAI and HDL-cholesterol concentrations as well as athletic performance in Koreans.

  • A variety of theories have been reported as causes of shoulder pain in overhead throwing athletes. Recently, an explanation with microinstability of the shoulder and internal impingement has been proposed. The concept of the microinstability is that pathologic laxity of the anterior capsule caused by repeated abduction and external rotation of the shoulder leads to abnormal glenohumeral biomechanics and causes internal impingement of the shoulder. Based on the understanding of the pathology, it is recommended to identify the causes of shoulder pain in the overhead throwing athletes and perform appropriate rehabilitation or surgical treatment.

  • Physical education bodybuilders compete by means of external appearance, and more and more people are starting bodybuilding with an interest in improving their individual constitution and diet. However, some of the bodybuilders in sports for life started using banned substances to show off their appearance or to expect good results in bodybuilding competitions. Prohibited drugs only have a short-term positive effect on the subject, and the seriousness of side effects was greater when taking the drug for a long time. An education program that can provide professional education and information on drugs to bodybuilding athletes for life sports should be preceded, and a system that can check regular health should be introduced if necessary. A periodic doping education program for bodybuilders for sport for life is needed to focus on the positive changes in bodybuilding through banned substances and to educate and understand the side effects and damage to life that occur later. Therefore, in order to prevent doping, it is essential to educate various aspects of doping, and it is required to expand the scope not only to elite athletes but also to participants as sports for all

  • This study discusses application of the storm water management model (SWMM) to designing the sponge city facilities in the Athletes Village of Military World Games in Wuhan in October 2019. The SWMM was used to simulate the runoff processes and reduction efficiencies of the sponge city facilities. The runoffs of the sponge city facilities were compared with those of traditional drainage system for the design rainfall of 35.2mm and the rainfalls with different recurrence periods. The results show that the hign density sponge city facilities could meet the requirements for 80% of annual runoff control rate, SWMM can determine the scales of the sponge city facilities and effectively simulate the hydrological processes for different layout schemes. The simulation model is also helpful to making optimization of the sponge city facility layout.
