  • Aromatic pelybenzoxazoles(PBOs) display excellent thermal stability plus good solvent and chemical resistance. Wholly aromatic PBOs, in fact, are soluble only in strong acids(e.g., sulfuric, rmethanesulfonic, triflic, and polyphosphoric acids). However, fully heterocyclized polymers have shown some drawbacks in solubility and processing. This problem of processing is currently being exploited to obtain unusual combinations of physical properties in fibers and films. (omitted)

  • Several types of cannabinoids have been halogenated in the aromatic ring in good yields with metal halide in the presence of 18-crown-6 on oxidation with m-chloroperbenzoic acid. This reagent system effects the regiospecific halogenation of activated aromatic ring over olefinic double bond.

  • A new series of water-soluble conjugated aromatic polyimines containing sulfonate groups have been synthesized via polycondensation reaction between diamines and dialdehydes at room temperature. Self-assembled multilayer films consisting each polyimine as a polyanion and poly(diallyldimethylammonium hydrochloride) as a polycation were fabricated successfully by alternate deposition in corresponding aqueous solutions.

  • A short kinetic mechanism for premixed benzene/air flames was developed with a reduction method of Simulation Error Minimization Connectivity Method(SEM-CM). It consisted of 38 species and 336 elementary reactions. Flame speeds were calculated and compared with those from full mechanisms and experiments of other researcher. Those comparisons are in good agreement between the full mechanism and the short mechanism at high pressure condition. In numerical work the running time with the short mechanism was over 10 times faster than one with the full mechanism.

  • The flash point for flammable liquids (alcohol, aromatic compounds) were measured by Penskt-Martens's measuring apparatus with closed cup. As a result, it was observed that the flash points had the regular tendency according to the carbon number and the molecular structure. Consequently, the flash point for the alcohols were increased in proportion to the increase of the carbon number and branch number. The differences between the literature and experimental data are 14.6% for the relative error and 3.46$^{\circ}C$ in average for the measuring temperature.

  • A mechanistic study on the chemiluminescence resulting from the reaction between bis(2,4,6-trichlorophenyl)oxalate(TCPO) and hydrogen peroxide in the presence of fluorescent polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in a viscous phthalate medium has been conducted. The rate determining step, decay rate constants, and relative quantum efficiencies yielded by varying the concentration of reagents generally support an existing mechanism. However, a reaction between TCPO and sodium salicylate was not observed.

  • The excitation mechanism of fluorescers for the chemiluminescence arising from the reaction between bis(2, 4, 6-trichlorophenyl) oxalate (TCPO) and hydrogen peroxide in the presence of fluorescent polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons has been studied. A key intermediate is generated from the reaction of TCPO with $H_2O_2$ and then the excitation of fluorescer.

  • A kinetic study on the chemiluminescence resulting from the reaction between bis(2,4-dinitrophenyl) oxalate(DNPO) and hydrogen peroxide in the presence of fluorescent polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in a viscous phthalate medium has been conducted. The resultant data confirm that the reaction between DNPO and $H_2O_2$ is the rate determining step. Higher rate constants are obtained with DNPO than those with bis(2,4,6-trichlorophenyl) oxalate (TCPO).

  • Heterocyclic aromatic amines (HCAs) are established genotoxic human cancer risks, that display their activity also in a number of animal models and in vitro. They are formed during the trying or broiling of creatinine-containing foods, mainly fish or meat. We established that mixing soy protein with ground meat blocks the formation of HCAs. we also observed that coating the surface of meat with polyphenols green or from black tea gives a dose - related reduction of the formation of HCAs.(omitted)
