There are many studies on arbitrarily divisible load scheduling problem in a distributed computing network consisting of processors interconnected through communication links. It is not efficient to arbitrarily distribute the load that comes into the system. In this paper, how to schedule in case that arbitrarily indivisible load comes into the system is studied. Also, the cases of the divisible load mixed with the indivisible load that come into network were dealt with optimal load distribution in parallel processing system by scheduling applied to linear programming.
This study aims to quantitatively evaluate failure pressure of wall-thinned elbow under combined load along with internal pressure, by conducting real-scale burst test and finite element analysis together. For quantitative evaluation, failure pressure data was extracted from the real-scale burst test first, and then finite element analysis was carried out to compare with the test result. For the test, the wall-thinning defect of the extrados or intrados inside the center of 90-degree elbow was considered and the loading modes to open or close the specimen maintaining a certain load or displacement were applied. Internal pressure was applied until failure occurred. As a result, when the bending load was applied under the load control condition, the intrados of the defect was more affected by failure pressure than the extrados, and the opening mode was more vulnerable to failure pressure than the closing mode. When the bending load was applied under the displacement control, it was hardly affected by failure pressure though it was slightly different from the defect position. The result of the finite element analysis showed a similar aspect with the test. Moreover, when major factors such as material properties and pipeline thickness were calibrated to accurate values, the analytical results was more similar to the test results.
This paper deals with wear characteristics of ion-nitrided metal theoretically and experimentally in order to analysis of wear phenomena. Wear tests show that compound layer of ion-nitrided metal reduces wear rate when the applied wear load is mall. However, as th load becomes large, the existence of compound layer tends to increase wear rate. The residual stress at the surface of ion-nitrided metal is measured, and the internal stress distribution is calculated when the normal and tangential forces are applied to the surface of metal. Compressive residual stress is largeest at the compound layer, and decreases as the depth from the surface increases. Calculation shows that the maximum stress exists at a certain depth from the surface when normal and tangential force are applied, and that the larger the wear load is the deeper the location of maximum stress becomes. In the analysis, it is found that under small applied wear load the critical depth, where voids and cracks may be created and propagated, is located at the compound layer, as the adhesive wear, where hardness is an important factor, is created the existence of compound layer reduces the amount of wear. When the load becomes large the critical depth is located below the compound layer, and delamination, which may be explained by surface deformation, crack nucleation and propagation, is created, and the existence of compound layer increases wear rate.

The first part shows the optimal contact surface for T-shaped combined footings to obtain the most economical dimensioning on the soil (optimal area). This paper presents the second part of a new model for T-shaped combined footings, this part shows a the mathematical model for design of such foundations subject to axial load and moments in two directions to each column considering the soil real pressure acting on the contact surface of the footing with one or two property lines restricted, the pressure is presented in terms of an axial load, moment around the axis "X" and moment around the axis "Y" to each column, and the methodology is developed using the principle that the derived of the moment is the shear force. The classic model considers an axial load and a moment around the axis "X" (transverse axis) applied to each column, i.e., the resultant force from the applied loads is located on the axis "Y" (longitudinal axis), and its position must match with the geometric center of the footing, and when the axial load and moments in two directions are presented, the maximum pressure and uniform applied throughout the contact surface of the footing is considered the same. To illustrate the validity of the new model, a numerical example is presented to obtain the design for T-shaped combined footings subjected to an axial load and moments in two directions applied to each column. The mathematical approach suggested in this paper produces results that have a tangible accuracy for all problems.
While the external axial compressive load is applied to only the shell edge of stringer-stiffened shell in the most of numerical and analytical previous studies (entitled as conventional approach), a part of external load is applied to the stringers in real conditions. It leads to decrease the accuracy of the axial buckling load calculated by the conventional eigenvalue analysis approach performed in the most of previous studies. In this study, the distribution of stress in the pre-buckling analysis was enhanced by applying the axial external compressive load to both shell and stringers to perform an accurate eigenvalue analysis of the stringer-stiffened composite shell. In this regard, a model was developed in FORTRAN environment to simulate the laminated stringer-stiffened shell under axial compressive load using finite strip method. The axial buckling load of the shell was obtained through eigenvalue analysis. A comparison was made between the results obtained from the model and those available in the previous studies to evaluate the validity of the results obtained from the model. Through a parametric study, the effects of different parameters such as stringer properties and composite layup on the buckling load of the shell under different loading patterns were investigated. The results indicated that in some cases, the axial buckling load obtained for the conventional approach used in the most of previous studies is significantly overestimated or underestimated due to neglecting the stringer in distribution of external load applied to the stringer-stiffened shell. According to the results obtained from the parametric study, some graphs were derived to show the accuracy of the axial buckling load obtained from the conventional approach utilized in the literature.
Leading developed countries have studied energy self-sufficient houses such as zero or low energy buildings to reduce energy consumption for buildings since the early 1990s. Moreover, some developed countries have actually constructed self-sufficient houses and operated them for demonstration, expanding use of such houses. Korea has also established Zero Energy Solar House(ZeSH) and studied energy independence. Therefore, this study analyzed research result regarding ZeSH, self-sufficient energy house hold of Korea, found out technologies used for heating energy independence, used building interpretation program(ESP_r) to evaluate performance of each factors and analyzed energy reduction quantitatively. Results from the research are as follows: Reduction rate of actual detached house's heating load was also analyzed quantitatively depending on application of each technology. When each factor was applied step-by-step, annual reduction rate of heating load depending on increase in insulation thickness reached 6.6~22.2 %. Annual reduction rate of heating load depending on increase insulation thickness, and change in window heating performance and area ratio reached 31.5 %. Annual reduction rate of heating load through high-sealing and high-insulation depending on change in leakage rate reached 40.0~88.9 %. Annual reduction of heating load, when Mass Wall and attached sun space was applied were applied reached 28.5~39.2 %, respectively.
Some methods of calculation of test load value from design load data were investigated which will be applied at strap installed full-scale airframe of composite aircraft. These methods were applied to left wing of KC-100 composite aircraft and the calculated test load values were compared with each others. Generally since test load values are differently calculated according to each aircraft type and position of straps, all calculation methods mentioned at this study need to be applied and compared to each aircraft. Finally the most appropriate method needs to be selected.
Bearing is a mechanical component that supports loads and transmits rotation. As the application of high-value-added products such as semiconductors, aviation, and robots have recently become diverse and more precise, an accurate bearing performance prediction and evaluation technology is required. Bearing performance evaluation can be divided into evaluations based on bearing theory and on numerical analysis. An evaluation based on numerical analysis is a technique that has been highlighted because the problems that remained unsolved owing to time problems can be solved through recent developments in computers. However, current studies have the disadvantage of not considering the essential changes over time and bearing rotation. In this study, bearing performance evaluation based on rigid body dynamic analysis considering rotation and load over time is performed. Rigid body dynamic analysis is performed for deep groove ball bearing to calculate the load applied by the ball. The reliability of the analysis is verified by comparing it with the results calculated using bearing theory. In addition, rigid body dynamic analysis is performed for automotive wheel bearings to calculate the contact angle and load applied by the ball for cases where axial load and radial load are applied, respectively. The effect of rotation and load over time is evaluated from these results.
The present research deals with the time-harmonic deformation in transversely isotropic magneto thermoelastic solid with two temperature (2T), rotation due to inclined load and laser pulse. Generalized theory of thermoelasticity has been formulated for this mathematical model. The entire thermo-elastic medium is rotating with uniform angular velocity and subjected to thermally insulated and isothermal boundaries. The inclined load is supposed to be a linear combination of a normal load and a tangential load. The Fourier transform techniques have been used to find the solution to the problem. The displacement components, stress components, and conductive temperature distribution with the horizontal distance are computed in the transformed domain and further calculated in the physical domain using numerical inversion techniques. The effect of angle of inclination of normal and tangential load for Green Lindsay Model and time-harmonic source for Lord Shulman model is depicted graphically on the resulting quantities.

Residual stress is a dominant obstacle to efficient production and safe usage of device by deteriorating the mechanical strength and failure properties. Therefore, we proposed a new thin film stress-analyzing technique using a nanoindentation method. For this aim, the shape change in the indentation load-depth curve during the stress-relief in film was theoretically modeled. The change in indentation depth by load-controlled stress relaxation process was related to the increase or decrease in the applied load using the elastic flat punch theory. Finally, the residual stress in thin film was calculated from the changed applied load based on the equivalent stress interaction model. The evaluated stresses for diamond-like carbon films from this nanoindentation analysis were consistent with the results from the conventional curvature method.
