Performances of Taekwondo fabrics were evaluated in respect of fiber component. yarn count, weave structure and wearing comfort. As a beginning step, we investigated the present situation of Taekwondo wears by questionnaire from pro and amateur Taekwondo players. Samples employed in this study were cotton/nylon blend fabric that was newly woven for this study as well as fabrics of current Taekwondo wears for sale in the market. Their fundamental properties measured were such as air permeability, water vapor transport. wickability, absorption rate, Qmax values, thermal conductivity, durability, hand value, and etc. In addition, subjective wearing sensations were evaluated using Taekwondo wears made of those fabrics. From the results of the objective measurement and the subjective wearing test, we estimated the total fitness of fabrics as a Taekwondo wear. From the questionnaire we could see that pro players and amateurs wanted highly absorbing, quick drying, and soft-tough and complained abrasive surfaces and static elasticity of current fabrics. In view of the results so far achieved, nylon blended fabrics newly woven in this study, showed better comfort-related properties from both of the objective and subjective tests. It was also represented that finer yams enhanced water absorption and touch, and fabrics with rough surface such as honeycomb weave was superior in wearing comfort as well as aesthetic appearance.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the wearing satisfaction of highschool girls’summer uniforms, and to evaluate the comfort-related properties of fabrics used in the uniforms. The subjects were 441 female high school students attending three different schools in Chongju city. The data was collected using self-administered questionnaires to measure the wearing satisfaction of summer school uniforms. Factor analysis, t-test, and F-test were used for data analysis. The heat and moisture transfer properties and air permeable properties of their fabrics were evaluated to measure as comfort-related properties. 1. Most students were wearing blouses made of polyester/rayon blended fabrics and skirts made of 50% wool and 50% polyester blended fabrics. 2. Clothing care and management, and appearance of summer school uniform were assessed positively, while style and design, and the level of comfort were assessed negatively. 3. The subfactors of wearing satisfaction varied according to school, style and design, and fabrics of high school girls’summer uniforms. 4. PET fabrics were rated as having a lower value of thermal retention and a higher value of air permeability than other blouse fabrics. 5. There were not differences significantly in thermal properties according to skirt materials.
In the variation of physical properties of adhesive fabrics, the objective of this study is to analyze fitness of fusible interlining to four sorts of fabrics for men's suit with various structural parameters. Four fusible interlinings are used for adhering to fabrics for men's suit. Mechanical properties of these 16 adhesive fabrics fused with these interlinings are measured by KES-FB system for analysing appearance and wearing properties of garments and for examining the fitness of fusible interlining to the fabrics for men's suit. The variation of bending property for adhesive fabrics are found to be higher in the order of interlining 1(Cotton30/Rayon70, plain), interlining 2(Polyester30/Rayon70, warp knit), interlining 4(Polyester, shingosen fabrics with drawing textured yarn) and interlining 3(Polyester, double dot coating interlining). The variation of adhesive effect shows the same results with bending property and shows negative relation with extensibility in weft direction per extensibility in warp direction(EM2/EM1). The variation of peel strength of adhesive fabrics, woolen fabrics in the case of face fabrics and interlining 3 in the case of interlining shows the largest value respectively.

To determine the change of the mechanical properties of the wool/polyester blend fabrics in proportion to blend ratio, 10 mechanical properties were measured on 6 blend fabrics by KES-F system. Blend ratio on the 6 blend fabrics was increased by $20\%$, and the structure of the fabric were plain, 2/2 twill, respectively. And wearing performances in propoetion to blend ratio on the 6 blend fabrics were investigated. In this experiment. the following conclusions were obtained with the increase of blend ratio of polyester. 1) The values of WT, RT in tensile properties. tensile energy and elongation, and RC in compressional properties were decreased. 2) The values of B, 2HB in bending properties, 2HG. 2HG 5 in shearing properties were increased. 3) Putting on clothes, wearing performance was bad because crumbling of shape and wrinkle were easily made an appearance. Particularly it was remarkably bad as blend ratio of polyester was expressed $60\%$.

Functions of interlinings to the shell fabric are to improve the garment formability for a beautiful silhouette and elastic potential to the deformed fabric during wearing, and also are to enhance appearance and wearing properties of garment. The objective of this study is to analyse the thermal properties of nonwoven fusible interlining to the thin worsted fabric with various fabric structural parameters. For the purpose fo this study, eight specimens with various weft yarn twists and weft densities of thin worsted fabrics are prepared. Three nonwoven fusible interlinings with different structure which were made by Nylon/Polyester were used for adhering to the thin worsted fabrics. Thermal properties of these 24 adhesive fabrics fused with 3 nonwoven interlinings are measured by KES-F7 System for analysing the thermal suitability of nonwoven fusible interlinings to the thin worsted fabrics with various fabric structural parameters. And air permeability, which was measured by KES-F8-API, of 24 nonwoven adhesive interlining fabrics was also analysed and discussed with the various kinds of nonwoven interlinings and fabric structural parameters.
This paper is related to a new technology allowing a user to have a 360 degree viewpoint of the virtual wearing object, and to an object VR(Virtual Reality)-based 2D virtual textile wearing system using viewpoint vector estimation and textile texture mapping. The proposed system is characterized as capable of virtually wearing a new textile pattern selected by the user to the clothing shape section segmented from multiview 2D images of clothes model for object VR, and three-dimensionally viewing its virtual wearing appearance at a 360 degree viewpoint of the object. Regardless of color or intensity of model clothes, the proposed system is possible to virtually change the textile pattern with holding the illumination and shading properties of the selected clothing shape section, and also to quickly and easily simulate, compare, and select multiple textile pattern combinations for individual styles or entire outfits. The proposed system can provide higher practicality and easy-to-use interface, as it makes real-time processing possible in various digital environment, and creates comparatively natural and realistic virtual wearing styles, and also makes semi -automatic processing possible to reduce the manual works to a minimum. According to the proposed system, it can motivate the creative activity of the designers with simulation results on the effect of textile pattern design on the appearance of clothes without manufacturing physical clothes and, as it can help the purchasers for decision-making with them, promote B2B or B2C e-commerce.
This paper is related to an Object VR-based virtual textile wearing system carrying out textile texture mapping based on viewpoint vector estimation and intensity difference map. The proposed system is characterized as capable of virtually wearing a new textile pattern selected by the user to the clothing shape section segmented from multi-view 2D images of clothes model for Object VR(Object Virtual Reality), and three-dimensionally viewing its virtual wearing appearance at multi-view points of the object. Regardless of color or intensity of model clothes, the proposed system is possible to virtually change the textile pattern with holding the properties of the selected clothing shape section, and also to quickly and easily simulate, compare, and select multiple textile pattern combinations for individual styles or entire outfits. The proposed system can provide higher practicality and easy-to-use interface, as it makes real-time processing possible in various digital environment, and creates comparatively natural and realistic virtual wearing styles, and also makes semi-automatic processing possible to reduce the manual works.
This study investigated the formability and appearance performance of 20 women's worsted fabrics. For this purpose, 10 foreign fabrics (9 Italian + 1 Japan fabrics) were prepared and 10 domestic worsted fabrics for women were made in Cheil woolen textile company for comparing with foreign fabrics. The mechanical properties of the 20 fabrics were measured using KES-FB and FAST systems; subsequently, fabric formability (F) and total appearance value (TAV) were calculated and compared with a virtual 3-D simulation silhouette by i-designer CAD system. The fabric formability of the domestic fabrics, calculated by KES-FB system, was lower than foreign fabrics, which was assumed to be caused by the stiff tactile property. The result was similar to that of the FAST system. Good wearing performance of the foreign worsted fabric was assumed to be caused by high extensibility and the compressibility of the fabrics. The TAV's of the domestic fabrics were also lower than foreign fabrics. Both the correlation between TAV and formability by the KESFB system and the correlation between TAV and formability by FAST system showed a good correlation coefficient. Fabric formability between KES-FB and FAST systems also showed a good correlation. The 3-D simulation silhouette of the foreign fabric by i-designer CAD system appeared superior to the domestic one, and assumed to be attributed to the low extensibility of the weft direction, stiff bending and high shear properties of the fabric.
The purpose of this study was to develop disposable diapers for the elderly in need by experimenting with wearing disposable diapers and analyzing the properties of materials of these diapers. The diapers were of two different types: one was a panty type for the elderly who were bed ridden, and the other was a pad type for the elderly who had incontinence. The subjects for the wearing test of the panty type were forty who were bed ridden, and there were forty subjects for the wearing test of the pad type who had incontinence. The disposable diapers for these experiments were chosen from those already found in the market place. Four panty types and three pad types were selected. From these experiments for the disposable diapers, the first prototypes were developed, and the second prototypes were proposed by experimenting with the first prototypes. The first panty prototype was designed to improve absorbing power, and we added waist rubber bands to prevent evacuation from back leaking and a frontal tape to prevent waistline film from tearing. The first pad prototype was designed to improve absorbing power also, and we added side rubber bands to prevent the side leaking and an adhesive tape on the fore part of the bottom to prevent the diapers from moving, and made the outline of the back area curved and thin to help hide the diaper from detection thus making the wearer feel better. From these test cases and analyzing the properties of materials with the first prototypes, we gained some success, but several points on further improvements were proposed to refine the final prototypes. The second panty prototype we proposed was to make 1he length longer, especially in the crotch area to prevent excess leaking and to fit the body more snugly. Also, the second pad prototype was proposed to reduce the total thickness of the diaper, and to improve the feeling and appearance.

This study was carried out to suggest a new swimsuit fabric with improved durability, comfort and appearance, by employing PTT(polytrimethylene terephthalate). Objective and subjective performances of newly woven PTT/PU (polyurethane) blend fabric were estimated and compared with nylon/PU(80/20) which is currently used for swimsuit. According to the questionnaire, the most serious problems of swimsuit fabrics were such that they were easily degraded by chlorinated water and this made fabric inelastic and transparent. After exposure to the chlorinated water, PTT blend fabrics showed higher retention of breaking strength, bursting strength, elastic recovery and crystallinity. suggesting that PTT/PU(87/13) was the most excellent material in durability. PTT blend fabrics absorbed less water and dried faster than nylon/PU and thus PTT/PU(87/13) was shown to be the best in respect of comfort. All of the specimens used in this study exhibited satisfactory colorfastness to sea water, chlorinated water and light except that nylon/PU(80/20) represented weak colorfastness to chlorinated water. From the subjective wearing sensation test, PTT/PU(82/18) was shown to posess the best wearing sensation. From the overall evaluation or objective and subjective properties, PTT blend fabrics exhibited superior performances to nylon/PU(80/20), suggesting that they can be successfully used as a new durable and comfortable swimsuit fabric.
