Impact of Mobility on the Ad Hoc Network Performance (이동성이 Ad Hoc 망의 성능에 미치는 영향)

  • Mobile Ad Hoc Network(MANET) has highly dynamic topology, hence presents a great challenge on the network performance evaluation and network protocol design. We proposed total path break up time, $\sum_{i}T_i$, as a metric to measure the performance of the total system as well as an individual connection. In this paper, we evaluate and analyze the performance of three mobility models(Random Waypoint, Manhattan, Blocked Manhattan) by applying the total path break up metric, investigate why network parameters such as packet delivery ratio, end-to-end delay, etc. vary by mobility models. We also present analysis result how much AODV Buffer improve packet delivery ratio and increase the end-to-end delay in spite of the path break up.

  • Ad-Hoc networks consist of a set of mobile hosts that communicate using wireless links, without the use of other communicate support facilities (such as base stations). The topology of an Ad-Hoc network changes due to the movement of mobile host. which may lead to sudden packet loss. Recently, a large amount of research has focused on the routing protocols needed in such an environment. but researches about Internet traffic performance analysis were unexhausted. Accordingly, we have simulated Ad-Hoc mobile network that using AODV routing protocol and Ad-Hoc mobile network topology size and node speed as simulation estimation-factor to analysis traffic performance. As the result of the simulation, we identify that TCP /Reno was more sensitive than TCP/Sack about node speed and a number of the node.

An Efficient On-Demand Routing Approach with Directional Flooding for Wireless Mesh Networks

  • Current on-demand ad-hoc routing protocols are not appropriate for wireless mesh networks (WMNs), because flooding-based route discovery is both redundant and expensive in terms of control message overhead. In this paper, we propose an efficient on-demand routing approach with directional flooding (DF), which is suitable for the WMNs with limited mobility. In the route discovery process to reach a gateway, our DF scheme can reduce the number of route request (RREQ) packets broadcast by using a restricted directional flooding technique. Simulation results show that ad hoc on-demand distance vector (AODV) with DF (AODV-DF) can significantly reduce routing overhead by RREQ packets and enhance overall performance compared with the original AODV.

  • Ad-hoc 무선망은 각자의 이동 노드에 대한 제약이 없고, 유선망이나 기지국과 같은 기반구조를 필요로 하지 않기 때문에 병원, 전시장, 생산 현장과 같은 곳에서 사용되는 자치분산 네트워크이다. 최근 들어 이동 Ad-hoc 네트워크에서 사용되는 AODV, DSR, TORA, ZRP등의 라우팅 프로토콜 연구가 활발히 이루어지고 있는 실정이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 AODV 라우팅 프로토콜을 사용하여 다양한 네트워크 환경에서 성능평가와 라우팅 프로토콜의 문제점을 수정, 개선하였다.

Performance Variations of AODV, DSDV and DSR Protocols in MANET under CBR Traffic using NS-2.35

  • Basically Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET) is an autonomous system with the collection of mobile nodes, these nodes are connected to each other by using wireless networks. A mobile ad hoc network poses this quality which makes topology in dynamic manner. As this type of network is Ad Hoc in nature hence it doesn't have fixed infrastructure. If a node wishes to transfer data from source node to a sink node in the network, the data must be passed through intermediate nodes to reach the destination node, hence in this process data packet loss occurs in various MANET protocols. This research study gives a comparison of various Mobile Ad Hoc Network routing protocols like proactive (DSDV) and reactive (AODV, DSR) by using random topology with more intermediate nodes using CBR traffic. Our simulation used 50, 100, and 150 nodes variations to examine the performance of the MANET routing protocols. We compared the performance of DSDV, AODV and DSR, MANET routing protocols with the result of existing protocol using NS-2 environment, on the basis of different performance parameters like Packet Delivery Ratio, average throughput and average end to end delay. Finally we found that our results are better in terms of throughput and packet delivery ratio along with low data loss.

  • In this paper, the goal of our proposed algorithm is to reduce link -failure and route failure caused by dead nodes which consume all of the battery life. I propose an algorithm which provides a ability of changing mutes to neighbor nodes before some of intermediate nodes be shutting don to get the stable route maintenance. To achieve this goal, The proposed routing algerian uses additional new messages to check energy status for monitoring energy of neighbor nodes and to change the path to a neighbor node. From extensive simulations, results show that possibility of cut-offs and time-delay cause of packet-loss have been decreased and also the improvement of transmission effectiveness.

  • Lately, the MANET research has focused on providing routing services with security and previous schemes have been proposed for detecting malicious nodes in a MANET. However, they still include some problems which malicious nodes cannot be found when they falsely report other nodes as malicious. Accordingly, we propose a novel and efficient scheme for detecting malicious nodes using report messages and a report table which is consisted of node ID both for suspecting and reporting when the malicious nodes behave normally during the route discovery, but the other hand they drop and modify packets, or falsely report other nodes as malicious during the data transmission. Our proposed scheme is applicable to not only DSR but aiso AODV. And we provide some simulation results of our proposed scheme by comparing general AODV with our proposed scheme. Simulation results show that our Proposed scheme outperforms general AODV in terms of average packet loss ratio and packet delivery ratio.
