In this paper, we investigate the performance of Signal to Leakage and Noise Radio (SLNR) based user scheduling in uplink of multi-cell with large-scale antenna system. Large antenna array is desired to improve the performance in future system by providing better beamforming capability. However, some studies have found that the signal channel is 'hardened' (becomes invariant) when the antenna number goes extremely large, which implies that the signal channel aware user scheduling may have no gain at all. With the mathematic tool of order statistics, we analyzed the signal and interference terms of SLNR in a homogeneous multicell network. The derived distribution function of signal and interference shows that the leakage channel's variance is much more influential than the signal channel's variance in large-scale antenna regime. So even though the signal channel is hardened, the SLNR-based scheduling can achieve remarkable multiuser diversity (MUD) gain due to the fluctuation of the uplink leakage channel. By providing the final SINR distribution, we verify that the SLNR-based scheduling can leverage MUD in a better way than the signal channel based scheduling. The Monte Carlo simulations show that the throughput gain of SLNR-based scheduling over signal channel based scheduling is significant.
Spatial correlation is a result of insufficient antenna spacing among multiple antenna elements, while temporal correlation is caused by Doppler spread. This paper compares the effect of spatial and temporal correlation in order to investigate the performance of multiuser scheduling algorithms in multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) broadcast channels. This comparison includes the effect on the ergodic capacity, on fairness among users, and on the sum-rate capacity of a multiuser scheduling algorithm utilizing statistical channel state information in spatio-temporally correlated MIMO broadcast channels. Numerical results demonstrate that temporal correlation is more meaningful than spatial correlation in view of the multiuser scheduling algorithm in MIMO broadcast channels. Indeed, the multiuser scheduling algorithm can reduce the effect of the Doppler spread if it exploits the information of temporal correlation appropriately. However, the effect of spatial correlation can be minimized if the antenna spacing is sufficient in rich scattering MIMO channels regardless of the multiuser scheduling algorithm used.

In this paper, a multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) hybrid-automatic repeat request (HARQ) algorithm with antenna scheduling is proposed. It retransmits the packet using scheduled transmit antennas according to the state of the communication link, instead of retransmitting the packet via the same antennas. As a result, a combination of conventional HARQ systems, viz. chase combining (CC) and incremental redundancy (IR) are used to achieve better performance and lower redundancy. The proposed MIMO-OFDM HARQ system with antenna scheduling is shown to be superior to conventional MIMO HARQ systems, due to its spatial diversity gain.
This paper proposes a new multiuser scheduling algorithm that can simultaneously support a variety of different quality-of-service (QoS) user groups while satisfying fairness among users in the same QoS group in MIMO broadcast channels. Toward this goal, the proposed algorithm consists of two parts: a QoS-aware fair (QF) scheduling within a QoS group and an antenna trade-off scheme between different QoS groups. The proposed QF scheduling algorithm finds a user set from a certain QoS group which can satisfy the fairness among users in terms of throughput or delay. The antenna trade-off scheme can minimize the QoS violations of a higher priority user group by trading off the number of transmit antennas allocated to different QoS groups. Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed QF scheduling method satisfies different types of fairness among users and can adjust the degree of fairness among them. The antenna trade-off scheme combined with QF scheduling can improve the probability of QoS-guaranteed transmission when supporting different QoS groups.

Given the unpredictability of the space environment, satellite communications are manually performed by exchanging telecommands and telemetry. Ground support for orbiting satellites is given only during limited periods of ground antenna visibility, which can result in conflicts when multiple satellites are present. This problem can be regarded as a scheduling problem of allocating antenna support (task) to limited visibility (resource). To mitigate unforeseen errors and costs associated with manual scheduling and mission planning, we propose a novel method based on a genetic algorithm to solve the ground support problem of multiple satellites and antennae with visibility conflicts. Numerous scheduling parameters, including user priority, emergency, profit, contact interval, support time, remaining resource, are considered to provide maximum benefit to users and real applications. The modeling and formulae are developed in accordance with the characteristics of satellite communication. To validate the proposed algorithm, 20 satellites and 3 ground antennae in the Korean peninsula are assumed and modeled using the satellite tool kit (STK). The proposed algorithm is applied to two operation modes: (i) telemetry, tracking, and command and (ii) payload. The results of the present study show near-optimal scheduling in both operation modes and demonstrate the applicability of the proposed algorithm to actual mission control systems.

In this paper, we propose a deep learning-based scheduling scheme for user selection in multi-user multi-antenna networks which is considered one of key technologies for the next generation mobile communication systems. We obtained 90,000 data samples from the conventional optimal scheme to train the proposed neural network and verified the trained neural network to check if the trained neural network is over-fitted. Although the proposed neural network-based scheduling algorithm requires considerable complexity and time for training in the initial stage, it does not cause any extra complexity once it has been trained successfully. On the other hand, the conventional optimal scheme continuously requires the same complexity of computations for every scheduling. According to extensive computer-simulations, the proposed deep learning-based scheduling algorithm yields about 88~96% average sum-rates of the conventional scheme for SNRs lower than 10dB, while it can achieve optimal average sum-rates for SNRs higher than 10dB.

In this paper, we propose a scheduling algorithm to improve the performance of IEEE 802.16 based wireless mesh networks using directional antenna. The performance is presented in terms of throughput of system and delay between each node by varying number of users. The result show that proposed scheduling algorithm improving the performance by reducing the delay of mesh network system. Our work may be useful as a guideline to control the fairness between SSs for multi-hop systems such as multi-hop relay and mesh networks.

We introduce a hybrid scheduling in a multi-path poor scattering full-duplex (FD) system, which consists of one multi-antenna FD base station and a large number of single-antenna half-duplex mobile stations. Our hybrid scheduling utilizes partial channel state information at the transmitter. In particular, unlike the conventional scheduling method using opportunistic transmission for both uplink and downlink, the proposed scheme combines a random transmit beamforming for downlink and a zero forcing beamforming for uplink. As our main result, via computer simulations, it is shown that the proposed scheme has a superior sum-rate performance than that of the conventional scheduling method beyond a certain signal-to-noise ratio regime.
In this paper, we assume the uplink multiuser MIMO system based on FDD. Considering the implementation of practical system, Antenna selection and Transmit Beamforming scheme are suggested. System model of both two schemes are introduced and the scheduling algorithm which approaches the optimal performance with affordable computational complexity is proposed for each transmission scheme. Simulation results show that the sum-rate of the proposed low complexity scheduler approaches the performance of brute-force scheduler which is believed to be the optimal scheme.

In this paper, we propose efficient scheduling strategy for Multi-user MIMO systems that find advantageous trade off solution between multiuser diversity and spatial diversity, spatial multiplexing technique. Specifically, we suggest P-SFS(Pseudo-SNR Fair scheduling) algorithm that consider throughput and fairness problem. also we propose channel aware Antenna deployment that decide how to use assigned multiple antennas by the information of each user's channel condition.
