  • Millimeter waves can be used for high resolution ranging and imaging. As the necessity of high-speed multimedia communication increases, millimeter wave systems are being developed since they are useful for wide band communication considering the shortage of available spectrum bands. However, it is necessary to analyze the characteristics of millimeter propagation in the atmosphere to assess the performance of millimeter wave systems. MCF and intensity fluctuations describe atmospheric effects on millimeter wave propagation. Using the quasi-optical method, a method is investigated to obtain MCF from the intensity distribution of focal plane. Also, a practical method is proposed to compute MCF from the flux measurement in the antenna focal plane.

  • This paper presents channel measurements for wireless body area network(WBAN) and provides performance evaluation from the measurement. We measured the radio propagation in 2.45 GHz ISM band in an anechoic chamber according to various human movements and the position of transmit antennas. Two transmit antennas are mounted on different positions of human body for the purpose of comparing the diversity gain and correlation between the channels in $2{\times}1$ multiple-input single-output(MISO) systems. The experimental results show that the outage capacity is closely related with the correlation coefficient between channels in transmit diversity system.

  • Cable leakage criterion of technical regulations on CATV transmission system was reinforced considering interference against CDMA mobile communication system in 2007. The criterion is $3{\mu}V$/m(at 10m) over 824~849MHz. But generally it is difficult for us to decide if a given CATV transmission facilities conform to it or not through simple measurement methods. In this paper, the problems on measuring cable leakage is identified theoretically and the measuring model with spectrum analyzer, LNA, and antenna is proposed to settle the problems. Also, the model is proved to be useful by practically measuring outdoors and analysing the results and the process to decide to fit to the criterion or not is established.

  • This paper studied a method of estimating target information using a radar in wireless communication. Position information on the target can be estimated angle, distance and velocity. The velocity information can be estimated since the Doppler frequency is changed in the moving target. The signal incident on the receiving array antenna is multiplied by the delay time and the reference signal to represent the output signal. This output signal is estimated by applying FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) after calculating signal correlation through correlation integrator. Since the output signal must be calculated within the correlator, it should be processed with the Dwell time. The correlation signal of the correlation integrator outside this Dwell time is indicated by the velocity measurement error. The FFT is applied to the signal that has passed through the correlated integrator in order to estimate the distance of the signal. The Doppler resolution must be improved because the FFT estimates target information using the Doppler information. The Doppler resolution decreases with increasing the integration time. The velocity information estimation should have no spread of the velocity. As a result of the simulation, there was no spread of the target velocity in this study.

  • In this paper we present an indoor propagation model for indoor wireless LAN service in the ISM band. We primarily use a 3D ray tracing as well as a patch scattering model in order to take into account the indoor fixtures. Therefore input parameters such as indoor environment parameters and antenna's types, polarizations are considered. As the results, we present fading characteristics and rms delay spread from time delay spread. In order to investigate the accuracy of the presented model, comparisons of predictions with measurement and simulations are performed in indoor wireless LAN service environments. The results show that measurements and simulations are very similar. Therefore in this paper, the effect of presented indoor propagation model is confirmed.

  • In this study, The code-carrier divergence test was applied to GPS measurements, and the results were compared and analyzed. The GPS data used for the threshold determination were obtained from Global Navigation Satellite System permanent stations built by the Korea Aerospace Research Institute. At each permanent station, identical dual-frequency receiver and choke ring antenna with radome are installed. The analysis method, root mean square values were compared and analyzed for each permanent station and satellite. As a result, the root mean square value generally decreased as the satellite elevation angle increased although the trend was gentle. Threshold were finally selected based on the average and standard deviation of root mean square for each permanent station. For improving of availability and continuity in real-time operation when the threshold is over the limits, Code-Carrier divergence test values are initialized.

  • In recent, it became necessary to develop the technology about electrodeless fluorescent lamp according to demand of the electrodeless fluorescent lamp system that used higher efficiency and advantage of long lifetime. Inductively coupled plasma is commonly used for electrodeless lamp due to its ease of plasma generation. An electric power efficiency of electrodeless fluorescent lamp has big relative property of gas in lamp, gas pressure, lamp formation, ingredients of magnetic substance and shape and action frequency etc. We used magnetic substance that open self-examination material of electrodeless fluorescent lamp antenna. Ferrite that is used in this experiment was Mn-Zn type. We have examined temperature and flux characteristic by frequency. Considering using frequency 2.65[MHz], Frequency was changed from 2.05(MHz) to 3.05[MHz] to recognize flux and temperature change of lamp. I used LMS(Lighting Measurement System) to measure flux and IR Camera to measure temperature of lamp.

  • In the GPS attitude determination system, the baseline length constraints can be used efficiently to reduce the search space. It is possible by adopting the assumptions that the baseline length doesn't change and the true baseline length is precisely known. But in real situation, the baseline length might be changed by many reasons and it is impossible to measure the true baseline length because there exists measurement error and antenna phase centre movement. In order to analyze the effect of the baseline length accuracy, one needs to know the relation between the accuracy of the baseline length and success rates of the integer ambiguity resolution. In this paper, the effect of the baseline length accuracy to the integer ambiguity resolution in the attitude determination system is analyzed by empirical method. The results show that the margins in the baseline length accuracy is less than a few cm which implies that one should take great cares when applying the attitude determination system to the flexible structures.

  • RF and microwave power is a basic quantity in electromagnetic metrology which linked directly to major electro-magnetic quantities such as attenuation, RF voltage, antenna characteristics and field strength. This paper deals with a power meter and power sensor with associated theory for RF and microwave power measurement. We study the theory and the key aspects in design of a 3.5 mm coaxial microcalorimeter which works from 50 MHz to 26.5 GHz as a primary microwave power standard.
