New Adaptive Linear Combination Structure for Tracking/Estimating Phasor and Frequency of Power System

  • This paper presents new Adaptive Linear Combination Structure (ADALINE) for tracking/estimating voltage-current phasor and frequency of power system. To estimate the phasors and frequency from sampled data, the algorithm assumes that orthogonal coefficients and speed of angular frequency of power system are unknown parameters. With adequate sampled data, the estimation problem can be considered as a linear weighted least squares (LMS) problem. In addition to determining the phasors (orthogonal coefficients), the procedure estimates the power system frequency. The main algorithm is verified through a computer simulation and data from field. The proposed algorithm is tested with transient and dynamic behaviors during power swing, a step change of frequency upon islanding of small generators and disconnection of load. The algorithm shows a very high accuracy, robustness, fast response time and adaptive performance over a wide range of frequency, from 10 to 2000 Hz.

The Effect of Chamber Bottom Shape on Die Elastic Deformation and Process in Condenser Tube Extrusion (접합실 바닥형상이 컨덴서 튜브 직접압출 공정 및 금형탄성변형에 미치는 영향)

  • In case of hollow cylinder extrusion using porthole die, the effects of extrusion parameters-temperature, the speed of extrusion, the shape of the die and mandrel-on metal flow in porthole die extrusion of aluminum have been investigated. However, there have been few studies about condenser tube extruded by porthole die. Original metal flow of condenser tube by porthole die extrusion is similar to hollow cylinder extrusion but the estimation of metal flow for extrusion parameters is different. For example, variation of chamber length in hollow extrusion only affects the welding pressure, however, the welding chamber length in condenser tube extrusion influences to the welding pressure as well as the deflection of mandrel. This study was designed to evaluate metal flow, welding pressure, extrusion load, tendency of mandrel deflection according to angular variation in the bottom of chamber in porthole die. Estimation was carried out using finite element method in as non-steady state. Analytical results can provide useful information the optimal design of porthole die.

  • In this paper, a nonlinear controller based on adaptive back-stepping method is proposed for high performance operation of Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (IPMSM). First, in order to improve the performance of speed tracking, a nonlinear back-stepping controller is designed. In addition, since it is difficult to achieve the high quality control performance without considering parameter variation, a parameter estimator is included to adapt to the variation of load torque in real time. Finally, for the efficiency of power consumption of the motor, controller is designed to operate motor with the minimum current for the required maximum torque. The proposed controller is tested through experiment with a 1-hp Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (IPMSM) for the angular velocity reference tracking performance and load torque volatility estimation, and to test the Maximum Torque per Ampere (MTPA) operation. The result verifies the efficacy of the proposed controller.

  • In order to obtain good driving performance in motor control, measurement of the state required for control is necessary. It must also be able to compensate for nonlinear elements of the mathematical model of the motor and disturbances such as load variation. In this study, we design a Kalman filter that can effectively remove noise included in measurements. Kalman filters are effective in estimating the state of linear systems. The system model is feedback linearized by estimating nonlinear terms and load variation as disturbances and compensating them for the system control input. It can be shown that the Kalman filter and the disturbance observer can converge stably independently of each other. As a result of the state estimation, an angular velocity estimation error of within approximately 0.3 [%] and a constant load estimation error of within approximately 4 [%] were obtained.

  • This paper is proposed an adaptive fuzzy controller of induction motor drive. The adaptive fuzzy controller approach for an estimate of the rotor time constant which is used to adjust the estimate of the slip angular speed. An estimate of the rotor time constant was obtained using an model reference adaptive system(MRAS) in a fuzzy control scheme. The rotor time constant was estimated by utilizing the rotor nut estimates. This paper is proposed the theoretical analysis as well as the simulation results to verify the effectiveness of the new method.

A Study on the Accelerometer for the Acceleration and Inclination Estimation of Structures using Double-FBG Optical Sensors (이중 FBG 광섬유센서를 이용한 구조물 가속도 및 기울기 측정 장치에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, an acceleration sensor that has optical fibers to measure the inclination and acceleration of a structure through contradictory changes in two-component FBG sensors was examined. The proposed method was to ensure precise measurement through the unification of the deformation rate sensor and the angular displacement sensor. A high sensitivity three-axis accelerometer was designed and prepared using this method. To verify the accuracy of the accelerometer, the change in wavelength according to temperature and tension was tested. Then, the change in wavelength of the prepared accelerometer according to the sensor angle, and that of the sensor according to the change in ambient temperature were measured. According to the test results on the FBG-based vibration sensor that was developed using a high-speed vibrator, the range in measurement was 0.7 g or more, wavelength sensitivity, 2150 pm/g or more, and the change in wavelength change, $9.5pm/^{\circ}C$.

The proposed controller is applied through simulation to the a 2-hp IPMSM for the angular velocity reference tracking performance and load torque volatility estimation, and to test the MTPA(Maximum Torque per Ampere) operation in constant torque operation region. The result verifies the efficacy of the proposed controller.

Norm-referenced criteria for strength of the elbow joint for the korean high school baseball players using the isokinetic equipment: (Focusing on seoul and gyeonggi-do) (등속성 장비를 이용하여 한국고교야구선수 주관절 근력 평가기준치 설정: (서울 및 경기도 중심으로))

  • The purpose of this study was to establish norm-referenced criteria for the isokinetic strength of the elbow joint in Korean high school baseball players. Two hundred and one high school baseball players participated in this study, none of whom had any medical problem with their upper limbs. The elbow flexion/extension test was conducted four times at a speed of $60^{\circ}/sec$. The HUMAC NORM (CSMI, USA) system was used to obtain the values of the peak torque and peak torque per body weight. The results were presented as norm-referenced criterion valuesusing the 5-point scale of Cajori which consists of five stages (6.06%, 24.17%, 38.30%, 24.17%, and 6.06%). In the results of this study, the peak torques of the elbow (flexor and extensor?) at an angular velocity of $60^{\circ}/sec$ were $37.88{\pm}8.14Nm$ and $44.59{\pm}11.79Nm$, and the peak torque per body weight of the elbow (flexor and extensor?) were $50.06{\pm}8.66Nm$ and $58.28{\pm}12.84Nm$, respectively. The reference values of the peak torque and peak torque per body weight of the elbow flexor and extensor were setat an angular velocity of $60^{\circ}/sec$. On the basis of the results analyzed in this study, the following conclusions were drawn. There is a lack of proper studies on the elbow joint strength, even though the most common injury in baseball players occurs in the elbow joint. Therefore, we need to establish a standard muscle strength in order to prevent elbow joint injuries and improve their performance. The criteria for the peak torque and peak torque per body weight established here in will provide useful information for high school baseball players, baseball coaches, athletic trainers and sports injury rehabilitation specialists in injury recovery and return to rehabilitation, which can beutilized as objective clinical assessment data.
