노인들의 구강관리 실태 및 치과공포 수준 (Actual oral condition and dental fear level of the elderly)

  • Objectives: The purpose of the study was to investigate the actual oral health status and dental fear level in the elderly. Methods: Data were collected by questionnaire interview method from June 15, 2013 to December 14, 2013. The subjects were elderly over 65 years old in Jeonbuk province. The study instrument was structured questionnaire including general characteristics of the subjects(3 questions), oral health management status(16 questions), Dental Fear Survey(DFS, 9 questions). Cronbach alphas were 0.804 and 0.959 in the study. Higher score of oral health management status showed good oral health care and higher DFS showed higher level of dental fear. Data were analyzed by t-test, one way ANOVA, post-hoc Scheffe test, and Pearson correlation analysis. Higher dental fear was defined below 33.3%. Results: Women tended to have better oral health than male. Women brush their teeth more frequently than male. Most of the elderly answered that it was important to brush teeth for 3 minutes, to use dental floss and to have oral health education(p<0.05). Score of dental fear level was similar in men and women. Those who were above 69 years old tended to have dental fear. Poor oral health condition was closely related to dental fear. Conclusions: The oral care in the elderly showed considerable differences between the groups and affected the dental fear. It is important to implement the nationwide dental care for the elderly in the future.

중등 예비 과학교사들의 지구과학영역 탐구문제 개발 능력 분석 (Exploring Preservice Secondary Science Teachers' Abilities of Developing Inquiry Questions in the Content of Earth Science)

  • 과학교육의 목적은 과학적 소양의 함양이며 이를 달성하기 위해서는 학교현장에서는 과학탐구의 실행을 중요한 목표로 삼고 있다. 이때 과학탐구의 단계는 문제제기, 가설설정, 자료수집 및 변환, 자료해석 및 결론도출로 이루어져 있다. 하지만 학교에서 학생들의 과학탐구단계는 자료수집 및 변환에 해당하는 단계에 치중되어 있으며, 문제제기는 나머지 단계를 결정하는 가장 중요한 시작의 단계임에도 불구하고 학교현장에서는 학생들에게 문제제기 기회가 거의 주어지지 않고 있다. 이 연구에서는 지구과학을 가르치는 예비교사들의 탐구문제 개발 능력 실태를 파악하고, 연구팀에서 개발한 과학탐구 문제 개발 가이드(IQDG)를 경험 후에는 탐구문제 개발 능력이 향상되었는지, 그리고 이러한 탐구문제개발 능력은 탐구설계 능력과는 어떤 관계가 있는지를 알아보았다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 지구과학 예비교사들에 의해 제안된 탐구문제의 수준과 정교성은 IQDG를 통해서 향상되었다. 둘째, 가장 높은 빈도수를 보인 탐구문제의 유형은 실험상황에서 나타난 결과들 사이에 무슨 관계가 있는지를 파악하는 '관계-탐구문제'와, 두 번째의 빈도수를 보인 유형은 결과에 대해서 원인을 찾는 '왜-어떻게 탐구문제'인 것으로 파악되었다. 마지막으로, 수준 및 정교성이 높은 탐구문제는 역시 높은 수준의 탐구설계 능력을 보여줌에 따라 탐구문제 개발 능력은 곧 전체적인 탐구과정의 성공에 영향을 미치는 중요한 요소임을 결론 내릴 수 있다.

일부 경찰공무원에게 실시한 심폐소생술 교육의 효과 (The Effectiveness of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Training Targeted for Policeman)

  • The purpose of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness and competence level of trainees of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation training targeted for policeman. Data were collected from 113 policemen by questionnaire on Feb, 2001. The data were analyzed by percentage, mean, paired t-test using SPSS program. The results of this study were as follows : 1. 17 questions score increase, and 1 question score decreased. 2 questions didn't change their score. 2. In post test, knowledge level of trainees increased compared to that of pretest(t=-13.055, p= .000). 3. Competence level also increased(t=-13.055, p= .000).

제천지역 학부모와 어린이 보육시설 원장들의 어린이 기호식품 품질인증에 대한 인식 및 소비행동 조사 (Study on Recognition and Consumption Behavior of Quality-Certified Children's Preferred Foods of Nursery Directors and Parents in Jecheon Area)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to identify the perception of quality-certified children's preferred foods as well as consumption behaviors of nursery directors and parents. Methods: A total of 243 nursery directors and parents of preschool children were surveyed using questionnaires. Results: Parents' perception scores were lower than directors' scores for many of the questions. Parents showed significantly higher scores for food safety standard questions and nutritional fortifying questions than directors (p<0.001 each). On the other hand, directors showed significantly higher scores for questions about products nutrition and safety (p<0.001, p<0.01). When buying children's favorite food items, food additives and hygiene level of vendors were the most important, in that order. Parents' scores for questions on purchasing behaviors of quality-certified children's preferred foods were significantly higher than those of directors'. Further, respondents with nutritional education experience showed high behavior scores. Conclusion: It can be concluded that promotion of quality-certified children's preferred foods is insufficient. The nutrition education group showed high scores for perception and positive consumption behaviors of quality-certified children's preferred foods. It is important to cooperate with nursery directors and parents of preschoolers to further children's nutritional education.

지역사회결속력(Community Solidarity)에 대한 탐색적 연구 (A Study of Community Solidarity-An Exploration for Effective Community Practice)

  • This paper examines the level of community solidarity in an administrative district in Seoul, Korea. This paper focuses on the following questions: what is the level of community solidarity in the district? and what are the major predictors of community solidarity?. Using the data from the 2000 community survey about residents' needs conducted by the welfare administration office of the district, this paper attempts to answer the above research questions. In analyzing the effect of community solidarity, this paper focuses on the following four predictor categories: individual characteristics; community related characteristics such as degree of marginalization; community participation, and community problems. Results are as follows: (1) the average of community solidarity is 3.1, using 5 points scale; and (2) the variables such as marginalization and community problem have a negative effect on the level of community solidarity; and (3) community participation has a positive effect on the level of community solidarity. Through the empirical analysis. this paper provides valuable knowledge about the level of community solidarity and effects of community participation, marginalization, and community problem on community solidarity. Finally, this paper discusses implications for effective community practice on the basis of the exploratory findings about community solidarity in Korea.

미혼 여성의 골다공증 인지정도와 자기효능감에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Level of Awareness and Self-Efficacy of Osteoporosis in Young Women)

  • Purpose: This study was done to determine the level of awareness and self-efficacy and their relationships to osteoporosis among young women. Methods: The participants were 309 young women living in Seoul. The data were collected using questionnaires from July to September 2009. The Osteoporosis Awareness Scale consists of five areas with a total of 31 questions and the Self-efficacy Scale consists of 18 questions. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe' test and Pearson's correlation coefficients. Results: The average level for osteoporosis awareness was 2.22, of a possible 4.00 and significant difference were related to participants' previous encounter with any information about osteoporosis, behavior to prevent osteoporosis, experience of weight control, and frequency of vegetable and calcium-rich foods intake. The average level of self-efficacy for osteoporosis was 2.81, of a possible 4.00 and significant difference related to participants' educational level, occupation, behavior to prevent osteoporosis, smoking, method of weight control, regular exercise, and frequency of vegetable and calcium-rich foods intake. There were significant positive correlations among awareness and self-efficacy about osteoporosis. Conclusion: This study suggests that health care professionals need to provide effective interventions for young women to enhance their osteoporosis awareness and self-efficacy for preventing osteoporosis.

초등학교 어린이 교통안전 행동지수 검사도구 개발연구 (Development of Traffic Safety Behavioral Index on Elementary School Children)

  • 그동안 어린이 교통안전 관련 자료 및 정책수립은 교통사고 발생 후 교통사고 건수 및 발생현황 중심으로 이루어져 왔으나 개별 어린이의 교통사고 노출 가능성 정도를 미리 진단함으로써 전체 어린이 가운데 위험정도가 높은 어린이들을 분류하여 이들에 대한 교통사고 예방교육에 주의를 기울일 필요가 있다. 이에 어린이의 교통안전행동을 측정함으로써 위험에 노출될 가능성 정도를 미리 파악할 수 있는 측정도구를 개발하는데 연구의 목적을 두고 있다. 예비검사용 문항(259문항)으로 서울시와 광역시 소재 초등학교 2곳을 임의 선정하여 총 600명을 대상으로 예비검사를 실시하였으며, 본검사는 약 3,500명을 대상으로 저학년은 53문항을, 고학년은 72문항을 사용하여 실시하였다. 연구결과 저학년용은 4개요인(행동통제부족성향, 공격성향, 자기 조절성향, 충동성향)으로 44문항을 추출하였고, 고학년용은 4개요인(행동통제부족성향, 우울성향, 자극추구성향, 공격성향)으로 69문항을 추출하였다. 교통안전행동에 문제를 지닌 학생과 문제를 가지지 않은 학생을 구분하기 위한 기준점수 산출시 남녀간 성별 차이를 고려하였다. 이로써 산출된 저학년용의 남자 어린이 기준점수는 63점, 여자 어린이 기준점수는 50점이다. 그리고 고학년용 남자 어린이 기준점수는 110점, 여자 어린이 기준점수는 99점이다.

소음발생 산업장에서의 청력보존프로그램 평가 (Evaluation on Hearing Conservation Program in the Noisy Industries)

  • This study was performed to assist the employer to establish the effective program for hearing conservation of noisy industry. The study subjects were health care managers of an industry and the study industries were devided into two groups(Group I, 37 industries; have the workers diagnosed as noise-induced hearing loss, Group II, 41 industries; not have the workers diagnosed as noise-induced hearing loss) and the question method carried out through the face to face interview. The contents of questionnaire for OSHA's hearing conservation program(HCP) consisted of seven components: 5 questions of monitoring of employee noise exposures(component 1), 6 questions of the institution of engineering, work practice, and administrative controls for excessive noise(component 2), 8 questions of the provision of each overexposed employee with an individually fitted hearing protector with an adequate noise reduction rating(component 3), 14 questions of employee training and education regarding noise hazards and protection measures(component 4), 9 questions of baseline and annual audiometry(component 5), 3 questions of procedures for preventing further occupational hearning loss by an employee whenever such an event has been identified(component 6), and 1 question of recording keeping(component 7), thus total numbers of questions was 46. The numbers of statistially significant difference(p<0.05) between two groups were 2(25.0%) among 8 questions of component 3, 10(71.4%) among 14 questions of component 4, 3(33.3%) among 8 questions of component 5, 2(6.7%) among 3 questions of component 6, and 17(37.0%) among total 46 questions of questionnaire. Above results showed that the level of HCP acceptance in group I was lower than in group II. Thus employer's understanding about HCP should be precede for the effective hearing conservation program of employee and the adequate hearing protector, training and education, baseline and annual audiometry, and procedures for preventing further occupational hearning loss for hearing conservation would be more emphasized.

  • 웹기반 교수 학습이 효과적으로 이루어지기 위해서는 교수-학습 활동이 학습 목표에 도달되었는지를 평가하는 일이 필수적이라 할 수 있다. 기존의 HTML 형식과 파일 형식의 문제은행 시스템은 관리하기가 어렵고, 다향한 형태로 문제를 생성할 수 없으며, 공유를 할 수 없다는 단점이 존재한다. 또한 학습자 수준에 맞는 평가 문제를 제공하기가 힘들다. 이에 반해, XML 문서는 구조화된 정보를 체계적으로 생성하고 관리할 수가 있으며, 기존의 파일 형태 정보에 비하여 의미적인 정보 단위를 구조화하여 표현하기 때문에 문서의 관리 및 검색, 저장에 효과적으로 이용할 수 있다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 XML을 기반으로 한 웹기반 문제은행 시스템을 설계 및 구현하였으며, 학습자 수준을 분석하여 적절한 평가 문항을 제시함으로서 수준별 개별학습을 지원할 수 있도록 하였다.

Contextual and Individual Determinants of Mental Health: A Cross-sectional Multilevel Study in Tehran, Iran

  • Objectives: Our aim was to answer the following questions: (1) Can mental health variance be partitioned to individual and higher levels (e.g., neighborhood and district); (2) How much (as a percentage) do individual-level determinants explain the variability of mental health at the individual-level; and (3) How much do determinants at the neighborhood- or district-level explain the variability of mental health at the neighborhood- or district-level? Methods: We used raw data from the second round of the Urban Health Equity Assessment and Response Tool in Tehran (in 2012-2013, n=34 700 samples nested in 368 neighborhoods nested in 22 districts) and the results of the official report of Tehran's Center of Studies and Planning (in 2012-2013, n=22 districts). Multilevel linear regression models were used to answer the study questions. Results: Approximately 40% of Tehran residents provided responses suggestive of having mental health disorders (30-52%). According to estimates of residual variance, 7% of mental health variance was determined to be at the neighborhood-level and 93% at the individual-level. Approximately 21% of mental health variance at the individual-level and 49% of the remaining mental health variance at the neighborhood-level were determined by determinants at the individual-level and neighborhood-level, respectively. Conclusions: If we want to make the most effective decisions about the determinants of mental health, in addition to considering the therapeutic perspective, we should have a systemic or contextual view of the determinants of mental health.
