  • Facility location problem is an important subject in many areas of modern business environment. In this paper, we deal with uncapacitated and multi-period facility location problem where the object is a maximization of total profit within predetermined cost. We assume that all demand have to be met. Particularly, we represent various types of customer based on four well-known urban spatial structures to represent a spread of customers. Those are concentric zone model, sector model, multiple nuclei model and star model respectively. We apply to the genetic algorithm to simulate a large scaled problem and develop simulator. We analyze both optimal numbers and locations of facilities for each urban structure. Furthermore, we examine the appropriate time to further expansion of the facilities in the planning horizon. The experimental results show that the developed algorithm can be applied effectively to the facility location problem in the various types of urban area.

  • This paper proposes a moving object extraction method using the contrast map and salient points. In order to make the contrast map, we generate three-feature maps such as luminance map, color map and directional map and extract salient points from an image. By using these features, we can decide the Attention Window(AW) location easily The purpose of the AW is to remove the useless regions in the image such as background as well as to reduce the amount of image processing. To create the exact location and flexible size of the AW, we use motion feature instead of pre-assumptions or heuristic parameters. After determining of the AW, we find the difference of edge to inner area from the AW. Then, we can extract horizontal candidate region and vortical candidate region. After finding both horizontal and vertical candidates, intersection regions through logical AND operation are further processed by morphological operations. The proposed algorithm has been applied to many video sequences which have static background like surveillance type of video sequences. The moving object was quite well segmented with accurate boundaries.

  • With the growth of wireless communication networks and mobile devices taking in GPS, Location-Based Service(LBS) is becoming an integral part of mobile applications. LBS can deal with location-aware features such as persons holding mobile phones or vehicles equipped with GPS, and provide the users with the location information of the features. Thus it is necessary to develop moving object database systems to store, manage, and query moving objects which change their locations continuously as time passes. In this paper, we design and implement a query processing component which deals with moving objects as a key data type. For this component, we define a new SQL-like query language(called MOQL) and as a consequence, design and implement modules that analyze and execute queries. It supports various types of operators that process range queries, infer topological relations, compute trajectories, and find k-nearest neighbors. It can be used as a subsystem if other application systems which deal moving objects and also supports ADO.NET interface that can be used to interact end-users.

  • The object of this study is to develope a program with proposed numerical techniques for an optimal seismic control of structures using active tendon systems. Ricatti closed-loop algorithm has been applied to control the active tendon systems with time-delay problem. The optimal control is formulated as an optimization problem which is finding optimal weighting matrices by minimizing the quadratic performance index by SUMT. In order to find the optimal location of active tendons in structures, controllability index has been introduced. From numerical examples, the current optimal control technique with optimal location of tendons was suitable to control the seismic response of structures.

  • Recently, location recognition technology has attracted much attention, especially for locating people or objects in an indoor environment without being influenced by the surrounding environment GPS technology is widely used as a method of recognizing the position of an object or a person. GPS is a very efficient, but it does not allow the positions of objects or people indoors to be determined. RFID is a technology that identifies the location information of a tagged object or person using radio frequency information. In this study, an RFID system is constructed and the position is measured using tags. At this time, an error occurs between the actual and measured positions. To overcome this problem, a neural network is trained using the measured and actual position data to reduce the error. In this case, since the number of read tags is not constant, they are not suitable as input values for training the neural network, so the neural network is trained by converting them into center-of-gravity inputs and median value inputs. This allows the position error to be reduce by the neural network. In addition, different numbers of trained data are used, viz. 50, 100, 200 and 300, and the correlation between the number of data input values and the error is checked. When the training is performed using the neural network, the errors of the center-of-gravity input and median value input are compared. It was found that the greater the number of trained data, the lower the error, and that the error is lower when the median value input is used than when the center-of-gravity input is used.

  • This study aims to establish a simulation method for CCTV (Closed Circuit Television) sight area. The simulation incorporates variables for computing CCTV sight area including CCTV specifications and installation. Currently CCTV is used for traffic, crime prevention and fire prevention by local governments. However, new locations are selected by administrator decision rather than analysis of the optimal location. In order to determine optimum location, a method to CCTV compute range is needed, which incorporates specifications according to CCTV purpose. For this purpose, limitations of previous research methods must be recognized and the simulation method must supplement these limitations. Here in this study, we derived CCTV sight area variables for realistic analysis to complement the limitations of previous studies. A total of eight elements were derived from image device sensors and installation: wide angle, height, angle, setting height, setting angle, and others. This research implemented a 3D simulation technique that can be applied to the derived factors and automate them using ArcObject and Visual C#. This simulation method can calculate sight range in accordance with CCTV specifications. Furthermore, when installing additional CCTVs, it can derive optimal allocation position. The results of this study will provide rational choices for specification selection and CCTV location by interagency collaborative projects.

  • The missing child problem is no more a personal problem. It became a social problem that all parents must consider. To this, this study applies USN/RFID technology integrated with GIS for the prevention of missing child. Although RFID is not designed for location sensing, but now it is regarded as a device to facilitate real time location awareness. Such advantages of RFID can be integrated with 4S(GIS/GPS/LBS/GNSS) achieving much synergy effects. In order to prevent kidnapping and missing child, it is necessary to provide a missing child preventing system using a ubiquitous computing system. Therefore, the missing child preventing system has been developed using high-tech such as RFID, GPS network, CCTV, and mobile communication. The effectiveness of the missing child prevention system can be improved through an accurate location tracking technology. This study propose and test a location sensing system using the active RFID tags. This study verifies technical applied service, and presents a system configuration model. Finally, this paper confirms missing child prevention system utilization possibility.

  • The World Wide Web has become the largest virtual system that is almost universal in scope. In recent research, it has become effective to utilize idle hosts existing in the World Wide Web for running applications that require a substantial amount of computation. This novel computing paradigm has been referred to as the advent of global computing. In this paper, we implement and propose a mobile object-based global computing framework called Tiger, whose primary goal is to present novel object-oriented programming libraries that support distribution, dispatching, migration of objects and concurrency among computational activities. The programming libraries provide programmers with access, location and migration transparency for distributed and mobile objects. Tiger's second goal is to provide a system supporting requisites for a global computing environment - scalability, resource and location management. The Tiger system and the programming libraries provided allow a programmer to easily develop an objectoriented parallel and distributed application using globally extended computing resources. We also present the improvement in performance gained by conducting the experiment with highly intensive computations such as parallel fractal image processing and genetic-neuro-fuzzy algorithms.

  • A detail design of overhead catenary system can be divided into a pegging plan and a design of MD(mounting diagram). In the pegging plan, the mast location, staggering and tension length are determined in the longitudinal point of view according to track condition, location of substation and etc. In the MD, a transversal diagram including masts, all of wires, cantilever, foundation and etc. and materials used are shown. This study presents a development of a software to design the MD for a conventional catenary system automatically. In the program, thin walled steel pole, foundation, cantilever, all of wires and etc. are automatically drawn according to the input and catenary conditions. And materials used in the MD and the section can be also managed respectively in the program. This application of the program is developed using C# for input/calculating and using C++(ObjectARX) for drafting the MD, respectively.
