  • In this paper, we introduced the adaptive spectral co-clustering, a spectral clustering for multiview data, especially data with more than three views. In the adaptive spectral co-clustering, the performance is improved by sharing information from diverse views. For the efficiency in information sharing, a co-training approach is adopted. In the co-training step, a set of parameters are estimated to make all views in data maximally independent, and then, information is shared with respect to estimated parameters. This co-training step increases the efficiency of information sharing comparing with ordinary feature concatenation and co-training methods that assume the independence among views. The adaptive spectral co-clustering was evaluated with synthetic dataset and multi lingual document dataset. The experimental results indicated the efficiency of the adaptive spectral co-clustering with the performances in every iterations and similarity matrix generated with information sharing.

  • Most existing clustering protocols have been aimed to provide balancing the residual energy of each node and maximizing life-time of wireless sensor networks. In this paper, we present the adaptive clustering strategy related to sink position for clustering protocols in wireless sensor networks. This protocol allows networks topology to be adaptive to the change of the sink position by using symmetrical clustering strategy that restricts the growth of clusters based on depth of the tree. In addition, it also guarantees each cluster the equal life-time, which may be extended compared with the existing clustering protocols. We evaluated the performance of our clustering scheme comparing to LEACH and EEUC, and observe that our protocol is observed to outperform existing protocols in terms of energy consumption and longevity of the network.

  • This paper concerns Fuzzy Radial Basis Function Neural Network (FRBFNN) and automatic rule generation of extraction of the FRBFNN by means of mountain clustering. In the proposed network, the membership functions of the premise part of fuzzy rules do not assume any explicit functional forms such as Gaussian, ellipsoidal, triangular, etc., so its resulting fitness values (degree of membership) directly rely on the computation of the relevant distance between data points. Also, we consider high-order polynomial as the consequent part of fuzzy rules which represent input-output characteristic of sup-space. The number of clusters and the centers of clusters are automatically generated by using mountain clustering method based on the density of data. The centers of cluster which are obtained by using mountain clustering are used to determine a degree of membership and weighted least square estimator (WLSE) is adopted to estimate the coefficients of the consequent polynomial of fuzzy rules. The effectiveness of the proposed model have been investigated and analyzed in detail for the representative nonlinear function.

  • In the past. as the environment of the established soft ware system changed, most Re-Engineering perforned clustering on the basis of logical operation, In contrast, this paper proposes a method to perfonn clustering efficiently using the infonmltion sharing of each modult, of source programs that constitute the software For the clustering of related modules using the information sharing. We evaluated the result after measuring the degree of clustering using similarity and uniqueness algorithm on the basis of heuristic method of measurement. Thus, we could manipulate and achieve the clustering of related modules and procedures, This paper also prests a method to reconstruct the software system efficiently through the clustering and shows the possibility of its realization through real example.

  • This paper presents an approach of the Gustafson-Kessel (GK) clustering algorithm's performance in fault identification on power transmission lines. The clustering algorithm is incorporated in a scheme that uses hybrid intelligent technique to combine artificial neural network and a fuzzy inference system, known as adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS). The scheme is used to identify the type of fault that occurs on a power transmission line, either single line to ground, double line, double line to ground or three phase. The scheme is also capable an analyzing the fault location without information on line parameters. The range of error estimation is within 0.10 to 0.85 relative to five values of fault resistances. This paper also presents the performance of the GK clustering algorithm compared to fuzzy clustering means (FCM), which is particularly implemented in structuring a data. Results show that the GK algorithm may be implemented in fault identification on power system transmission and performs better than FCM.

  • We propose a reproducibility (validity) assessment procedure of K-means cluster analysis by randomly partitioning the data set into three parts, of which two subsets are used for developing clustering rules and one subset for testing consistency of clustering rules. Also, as an alternative to Rand index and corrected Rand index, we propose an entropy-based consistency measure between two clustering rules, and apply it to determination of the number of clusters in K-means clustering.

  • Recently there are many bibliometric studies attempting to utilize Pathfinder networks(PFNets) for examining and analyzing the intellectual structure of a scholarly field. Pathfinder network scaling has many advantages over traditional multidimensional scaling, including its ability to represent local details as well as global intellectual structure. However there are some limitations in PFNets including very high time complexity. And Pathfinder network scaling cannot be combined with cluster analysis, which has been combined well with traditional multidimensional scaling method. In this paper, a new method named as Parallel Nearest Neighbor Clustering (PNNC) are proposed for complementing those weak points of PFNets. Comparing the clustering performance with traditional hierarchical agglomerative clustering methods shows that PNNC is not only a complement to PFNets but also a fast and powerful clustering method for organizing informations.

  • When a partitioned structure is derived from a data set using a clustering algorithm, it is not unusual to have a different set of outcomes when it runs with a different order of data. This problem is known as the order bias problem. Many algorithms in machine learning fields try to achieve optimized result from available training and test data. Optimization is determined by an evaluation function which has also a tendency toward a certain goal. It is inevitable to have a tendency in the evaluation function both for efficiency and for consistency in the result. But its preference for a specific goal in the evaluation function may sometimes lead to unfavorable consequences in the final result of the clustering. To overcome this bias problems, the first clustering process proceeds to construct an initial partition. The initial partition is expected to imply the possible range in the number of final clusters. We apply the data centric sorting to the data objects in the clusters of the partition to rearrange them in a new order. The same clustering procedure is reapplied to the newly arranged data set to build a new partition. We have developed an algorithm that reduces bias effect resulting from how data is fed into the algorithm. Experiment results have been presented to show that the algorithm helps minimize the order bias effects. We have also shown that the current evaluation measure used for the clustering algorithm is biased toward favoring a smaller number of clusters and a larger size of clusters as a result.

  • In this Paper, we present a new efficient algorithm that can segment an object in the image. There are many algorithms for segmentation and many studies for criteria or threshold value. But, if the environment or brightness is changed, their would not be suitable. Accordingly, we apply a clustering algorithm for adopting and compensating environmental factors. And applying labeling method, we try arranging segment by the similarity that calculated with the fuzzy algorithm. we also present simulations for searching an object and show that the algorithm is somewhat more efficient than the other algorithm.

  • The purpose of this paper is to show the clustering measurement way for Korean container terminals by using neural network based SOM(Self Organizing Map). Inputs[Number of Employee, Quay Length, Container Terminal Area, Number of Gantry Crane], and output[TEU] are used for 3 years(2002,2003, and 2004) for 8 Korean container terminals by applying both DEA and SOM models. Empirical main results are as follows: First, the result of DEA analysis shows the possibility for clustering among the terminals and reference terminals except Gamcheon and Gwangyang terminals because of the locational closeness. Second, the result of neural network based SOM clustering analysis shows the positive clustering in clustering positions 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. Third, the results between SOM clustering and DEA clustering show the matching ratio about 67%. The main policy implication based on the findings of this study is that the port policy planner of Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs in Korea should introduce the clustering measurement way for the Korean container terminals using neural network based SOM with DEA models for clustering Korean ports and terminals.
